There may not be enough fixtures for stand alone NL clubs though, Kent & Mildenhall struggling financially, with the doubling up clubs not wanting many fixtures.
-
No idea of the finances, just pointing out they didn't have to drop Laguta for Lambert due to points limit.
-
Part of that is because of lack of riders, often the only riders available to strengthen a team are ones dropped from other teams.
-
But Buster didn't drop Laguta to get Lambert, he could have used them both? But what are the alternatives, using guests even more so riders don't swap clubs? Not allowing promoter's to run more than one club, meaning more clubs close down?
-
Happens all the time tbh teams making transfers before the averages change & they're no longer allowed. i.e Sheffield signing Pickering before the end of June as the July averages wouldn't allow the change.

In place of who? He couldn't replace Cook! -

r/r wasn't particularly strong though, Harris, Sedgmen & the two reserves available to take the rides. Although that looks decent now we've seen Batchelor & Cook struggle, it didn't look a strong option at the time. Of course dropping Harris has been the biggest mistake & it's hard to justify it. One other issue Leicester have was their insistence on using Morris at 5, when he wasn't one of their top 3 riders. Had he been at 3 or 4 with Harris or Lawson at 5, then his average would likely be higher (no heat 13s) & possibly better replacement options would have been available? -
But Peterborough fans have been non-stop complaining, that Lynn have made all the good signings & Peterborough left in the lurch. Seems Buster can't win, no matter what he does?
-
Why is it a farce, if a rider is dropped by one club, he's allowed to sign for another, has been done many times probably every season since I can remember. Was it a farce when Hook went from Edinburgh to Berwick, when Clegg went from Scunthorpe to Edinburgh, when Pearson went from Birmingham to Plymouth, Joe Thompson - Scunthorpe to Birmingham to Poole, Dan Thompson - Birmingham to Plymouth, Starke - Plymouth to Birmingham?
-
I don't know why people keep suggesting that Sheffield would let Leicester win (they've certainly been proved wrong) but even if Sheffield would have preferred Leicester to make the play-offs, I can't see riders willingly throwing matches.
-
Probably only if it makes them stronger? I don't think Brummies fans will be bothered given the scores being posted by the guests they're using

Maybe he was before he got involved in Speedway, but not now?

Poole v Glasgow 23/8/23 Championship
szkocjasid replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Maybe it's not so bad, as these 4 teams can lose every week & still entice fans with "we've got a chance of the play-offs if we win next week" in normal seasons, they couldn't have said that! -
To me the priority should be ensuring the top 6 clubs are in the play-offs, rather than worrying about 1st / 2nd. After all, to be Champions you have to be able to beat any club over 2 legs, so why would you need an easier path to the final? That being said, given the fuss Poole would make of they missed out on top spot through no fault of their own, the BSPL may find themselves siding with Poole / extending the cut-off date again?

Imagine Oxford planned a home Champ match the same day as the Chargers were at Leicester in the NL play-off, to stop Boughen racing against them lol!

25.08.2023 Scunny v Glasgow League

I've said many times, Brennan at 5 leaves the team looking weak in his heats (especially now Complin is struggling) & I certainly would have put Basso at 5. It's been suggested before that Brennan & Vissing don't race well together, to which I replied - try Vissing at 2, Brennan with Nowak. But since Cami out Brennan at 3 with Claus at Poole & used Richie Worrall at 5, I can only assume Basso doesn't like number 5 / Cami doesn't want to split a successful Basso / Vissing pairing? Of course now Tarasenko is in the team, they have another option for the more difficult number 5 spot. -
I'm pretty sure it would be 6.00 (4.00 x 1.5) regardless of his "actual" average his MA is 4.00. So no chance he could have replaced Roynon

How do you know that team won't win the league? We don't know the points limit yet!
-
Last year Tolley said they had a play-off team, this year Tolley said they had a play-off team. Maybe he rates some riders too highly, or underestimates opposition teams. But most considered Birmingham has a weak team signed this year. If I was a Brummies fan, I'd take any talk of a play-off side with a pinch of salt & just be happy to have a club to support. Hopefully enough fans feel that way to keep the club alive?

I'm 99% sure Connor won't be doing NL next year. Prem (RS), Champ & U-24 league should provide him with enough racing. However we don't know the league formats, so hard to predict anything really

There's always a chance any speedway meeting could be called off, weather forecasts aren't always accurate. Likewise clubs calling off matches due to forecasts, doesn't guarantee rain & matches might be cancelled unnecessarily
