meetings should not be allowed to be cancelled by home promotions on the prediction of a forecast.Cost should be thought about pre season at the promoters piss up and a solution should be sought, Somerset can't be short of a few bob the amount of riders heads they turn ( allegedly) -

A lot of crashes at Newcastle seem to be bend 2 and to a lesser extent bend 3.... I think it's the track shape rather than the surface myself, we often see visiting rides come in to bend 1 to fast then have to almost lock up to avoid drifting to the fence, all tracks are different though and some of these riders have been around Newcastle lots and lots of times.... Simon stead used to always look ill at ease, but this year he attacked the track and used his loaf and was very impressive, it's mainly visitors that get caught out, yet when guesting for us seem to do ok, which is strange. Riders have to learn and remember you simply will not get around bend 2 if you don't loosen the throttle a little or use your head...I don't think the track can be changed, so the riders will have too. We always have a load of dirt down so maybe riders arnt used to it with a lot of slick tracks around??

agreed, it's the fans with the brown noses and constant rolling out of old chestnuts and excuses that I can't understand??Pay your money every week to watch rubbish but keep your mouth shut and be thankful!! They do it for our entertainment how dare we criticize True fans will speak up good or bad because they care, not just tow the line. -

its an easier decision to make when you have a few riders missing aswell, happening too often nowadays IMO....if a track is waterlogged then fair enough, but on the strength of a forecast is getting dafter and of course is open to abuse. -

just like some big tracks, some riders are beat before they warm the bike up.... The shape of the track means you have to come off the throttle riding certain lines, for example josh auty has ridden the place umpteen times but nearly always comes down on the 2nd bend at least once a meeting, yet the likes of aaron fox who's never seen the place before can go round and pick up points, you simply can't go flat out, you have to use your loaf...It's ok being a Scunny fan with a purpose built track with many lines.... Unfortunately with the stadium being owned by a bookie and primarily for greyhound racing there's nothing that can be done. The surface in the main has been pretty good with a few exemptions, still young riders have came and flourished over the years... Kerr and Richie to name 2 and it has been the starting point for many world class riders and indeed world champions. Speaking to a current GP rider a few years ago he said he loved the place because it made him have to think. We tend to have loads of muck down and it seems most riders want concrete slick roads in this day and age.... I know what I'd rather watch though. Good riders can adapt to any track surely?. -

Never ever watch the pre meeting entertainment in the stadium, prefer to watch the street carry on and stay in boozer until as late as possible -
