  1. Money talks. He also was happy to accept a guest booking for us a few weeks back at Belle Vue. Had a stinker mind you, but apologised for his performance on Twitter and thanked the Witches promotion for the opportunity so not sure there’s any ongoing issues there.
  2. We’ll give them a run for their money when/if both sides run their normal 1-7. Allen ain’t getting the points Sedgmen did tonight and Barker fills his boots at reserve instead of Nicol who is proving a disaster as a regular guest.
  3. I agree with Steve here, I think the part in bold is part of the problem these days to be honest. The sport is crying out for something a bit different. Not sure if you were there or not but if you weren’t, maybe your opinion on it would soften if you were there and caught up in the moment? Then again probably not, think your mind is well and truly made up on this one. I can honestly say i can’t remember ever leaving the stadium with the same buzz I felt on Thursday evening..
  4. I’d argue that was because it secured the super heat and gave us the chance of winning it. Would it have been the same if it was just the draw with no super heat to follow? I personally doubt it. I also disagree that the atmosphere was just as good after 15 as it was for the super heat. Certainly wasn’t where I was standing.
  5. Two quick things I haven’t mentioned, agree with Baldy about the track. Was good last night which must have been very tough to prep with the dry warm weather so credit where it’s due. And was also not only good to see King looking much better, but he actually rode some good inside lines to good effect in 15 and 16 which we don’t often see so good on him. Hopefully the start of better form for the second half of the season.
  6. I think there’s also weight behind the theory that he starts meetings well (particularly in the championship) and then seems to completely fizzle out in the later stages of meetings. Does he have a fitness issue? Although he did do the business with Doyle in heat 15 for us against Wolves to pinch the points. I still think he was a good signing personally. People forget he was signed as a 5 pointer and he’s good value for that.
  7. See I’m on the fence a bit with this new rule. I agree with Sully, the away team really should be rewarded more for Drawing an away meeting which is notoriously difficult to do. But on the other hand, numerous people over the years have been complaining about the lack of drama and entertainment at meetings and falling crowd levels and that those in charge need to come up with things to freshen the sport up. They bring one in, and suddenly everyone seems to be cry arsing about it. Whether you think it’s unfair or not, anyone who was there last night surely couldn’t help but be drawn in by the drama of those last two heats. When was the last time you saw an atmosphere like that at Foxhall? I saw people around me shouting at the top of their lungs encouraging Doyle and King home for the points, and then the pure joy on peoples faces high fiving each other as they crossed the line. Would you get that kind of reaction from nicking a draw? Of course not. This is the sort of stuff you don’t mind paying your money for surely? It was box office it’s as simple as that. As I said I understand the point that it seems unfair on the away team and that’s valid, the Panthers fans were obviously annoyed on here last night and that’s fair enough, but they were on the victorious end of the “super heat” last week and didn’t seem to mind it then. Whether you like the rule or not, we all know that a drawn meeting isn’t enough to take 2 points anymore. It’s not as if Panthers thought they had 2 points in the bag and then boom, out steps Noel Edmunds with a gotcha and drops it on them that they actually haven’t got 2 points and they now need to negotiate a super heat. They could have got themselves the 3 or even 4 points from the meeting by winning in the 15 heats but ultimately didn’t do enough. It could well be our turn to be on the receiving end of a super heat before the season is out and I’m sure we’ll be annoyed! But I’m also sure that whichever set of home fans win it will absolutely love it just like we did last night and Peterborough did last week against Lynn.
  8. It has to be that way though to ensure a result in the extra one heat, otherwise you could get another half dozen 3-3’s and be there all night waiting for a heat advantage. The only other way and my preference, is a simple run off with a nominated rider from each team.
  9. Well it’s quite possible you’re more sober than me mate. Been on the ale all day so I’ll go with yours
  10. All about opinions mate. You saw it from the opposite side to me so it might have looked completely different from your view point
  11. Sorry mate agree to disagree. Stood in front of the garden bar pretty much same view as Babs would have had and Starke left Doyle nowhere to go and took him out. The boos around the stadium would back that up. Baffling decision.
  12. Good old Barb. Starke wiped out Doyle and she excluded Doyle LOL
  13. Love your positive attitude Lovey that’s the spirit
  14. He’ll be snapped up pretty quickly if he isn’t already.
  15. Oh ffs! Came across this tweet this morning Absolutely shocking.
  16. To be fair he’s only ridden 2 away meetings before last night, 6+1 at Wolves, and 4+1 at Lynn. Was expecting more last night as he did hit 11+1 there in the League Cup but blowing an engine in his first heat explains that one. Still surprised at the figures mind! Bar Doyle he seems to have been comfortably our best rider
  17. Not sure to be honest. Andersen and presumably 3 for Basso doesn’t look a lot in it. Andersen still rides Foxhall brilliantly.
  18. I agree. Starke the biggest worry for me, looked way off last night. Can’t afford to carry passengers. Riss has been brilliant this season, but he was a concern last night as well, the poorest I’ve seen him. Hopefully just a one off!
  19. https://ipswichwitches.co/raceday-preview-peterborough-premiership-h/ Broc Nicol guests for Barker, NOT Heeps. R/R for Nicholls for Panthers.
  20. Damn that’s a blow. Was starting to ride very well.
