Peterborough V Ipswich 20th June
Arch Stanton replied to Arch Stanton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I said at the start of this thread I can see Panthers winning both meetings. Pretty much every rider bar maybe Harris (who has got better recently) ride Foxhall very well. Their task will be made that little bit easier if Starke rides as he looked nowhere near it last night after injury, and Barker is missing. Wouldn’t even back against a big 4 pointer either, then Panthers will be right back in the mix for 4th. Stuffed us comfortably in the cup earlier in the season. -
It is at the moment, that’s undeniable.

https://ipswichwitches.co/raceday-preview-peterborough-premiership-a/ Starke possibly returning for this, still no team changes for Peterborough. Panthers have the Indian sign over us the last few seasons and also have riders that go very well at Foxhall so wouldn’t be in the least surprised if Panthers won both meetings next week. I’d take a point here if offered right now.

Think those that preferred the old circuit have got short memories. Was ridiculously narrow. Not even sure how we got away with that to be honest!

It’s proving a problem everywhere let’s have it right and not make out this is just an Ipswich thing. I’ve seen two meetings at Peterborough this season, and both haven’t been a patch on what the Showground has served up in previous years. Same with Lynn and Wolves. Both these tracks have produced excellent racing in the past, but these days those good meetings are few and far between according to those who attend regularly at least on here. The opening two meetings live on Eurosport were shocking at Wolves and Peterborough. The third meeting, ours against Sheffield at Foxhall, was an improvement on both although hardly a classic either by any means. Seems to be an ever increasing issue with tracks here in the UK with the exception of Belle Vue. Having said that, most of the GP’S have been shockers as well on pretty crap tracks!
-
Well that’s just not true. The Belle Vue meeting in particular had a great outside line that even Batchelor used to good effect. That outside line then disappeared the next meeting against Sheffield and the fastest route was again definitely up the inside. It’s very inconsistent which is frustrating. We have one of the most experienced track men around who certainly knows what he’s doing, but you can only work with what’s at your disposal. Budget allowing, perhaps they need to try something different for next year.

Disagree about the old circuit providing better racing. It was simply far far to narrow to allow any decent racing to take place. There’s nothing wrong with the current shape as seen in the picture. They’ve made it much wider and more circular in shape. The problem is the preparation and Baldyman is right, the stocks are a real problem where this is concerned

11+1 in the League cup back in April. Was on a paid max until Doyle asked him nicely to move over in heat 15

His starting is his biggest asset. Normally razor sharp from the gate is Lawson.

None I’d say. In fact crowd levels have been up if anything, even early in the league campaign after getting stuffed in all the opening cup fixtures. I just think personally in your position, rather than sign a Holder or a Kildermand I’d rather see my club add to the asset base, and sign a couple of the talented crop of youngsters we’ve seen in the under 21 qualifiers lately who haven’t yet got the big gigs in Poland. Berwick signed one today in the talented young Dane Jonas Knudsen. Put a couple of bricks in the wall so to speak with an eye on next season and beyond. Even if they don’t hit the ground running and help you to victories, I think this kind of strategy would get the backing of most supporters. -

Another home defeat surely means Peterborough are out of contention for 4th? Any meaningful changes would cost the club money, is it worth the investment just to win a few home meetings? -
King's Lynn v Ipswich 09/06
Arch Stanton replied to Bald Bloke's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Pretty irrelevant as R/R for him here managed 4 points. Not exactly fanciful thinking that he might have at least managed that although of course we’ll never know. Matters not anyway. Only thing that matters and counts, are points on the board and we took another three -

Haven’t really studied the table, but are Peterborough that far out of reach for 4th? Forget coming first or second that really doesn’t matter. If these changes really make a difference, winning the remaining home fixtures is a given, then pick up a couple of 4 point away wins and surely they could sneak in. IF they get there, could even then be favourites! -
Sheffield vs Wolves 9/6/22
Arch Stanton replied to LisaColette's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I’ve said this before, but none of us know why certain riders are picked/not picked for heat 15. Many things can dictate selections that we’re just not privy too. -

We’ll never know Col. think he’d have been good for that 5 personally but all guesswork. -

Wolves will feel frustrated here. Any kind of contribution from Kemp and that’s more points on the board. Wonder if he’s on borrowed time.. -

Lynn were lucky Starke was missing. A measly 5 points for R/R when he hit paid 16 here last year. Could have been a big 4 pointer… -

Starke got paid 16 here last year so obviously likes the place so shame he’s missing. R/R looks ok for covering him though so let’s see what his R/R rides accumulate. Another point will do here. -

Foxhall nowhere near as tight as Monmore these days. Speaking to an ex Witches rider a few weeks back, compared to the old circuit Foxhall is now “very easy to get around”. Whether that’s a good thing or bad thing from an Ipswich perspective is up for debate, but it’s a fact that a large number of riders used to be beaten before they’d even got to Foxhall and some weren’t prepared to even give it a go because of how narrow and tight it was. On the flip side you had top riders who loved it. Nielsen and Crump used to name it as their favourite track. -

Feel for King, it isn’t just tonight he hasn’t been on it all season. Need to support him though because he’s a damn good rider at this level. On another note, what a class act Doyle is. Dragged us out of a hole more than once. Is there another rider around that’s not just as good as him, but gives his all every time in our country? Worth his weight in gold this fella.
