I agree with you Buttons, this team squeezes in to the play offs for me as well but it isn’t a title winner IMO. That is where the frustration comes in that we’re a shade under 2 points under. The team could easily have been even better than it is and realistic challengers for silverware. It just feels like a massive missed opportunity as things stand.

He got rider of the night a few times because he scored decent points and rode well for a spell, particularly at reserve, not in my view because he was entertaining. No problem with anyone disagreeing, that’s what opinions are all about. My main gripe is more with Louis than Starke. Either of Heeps or Starke stick out like a sore thumb in this team because of the wasted points that should never have happened. Of the two, it’s Starke who shouldn’t be in this team for me, Heeps down at reserve and a better rider than both in the main body.
-
Unlike others I don’t have a problem with Heeps, I like watching him. I’ve more of a problem with Starke. Nothing personal as he comes across as a lovely lad, but unlike Heeps I don’t find him the least bit entertaining and he’s never going to get any better than he is now. Ok, some say the same about Heeps where improvement is concerned, but at least Heeps is a racer and entertains. Using the points available and getting a rider above Heeps’ 5 point average thus getting him down at reserve, was the way to go IMO. I also still believe there’s a point increase in Cam’s average.

Hard to argue against that really. I personally wouldn’t swap Rowe for Brennan as a rising star and I’m pretty confident Rowe will have a more productive season down there of the two. But I also tipped the Witches for the wooden spoon a couple of seasons ago and we finished runners up, and I also tipped Peterborough for the spoon this year and they won the damn thing so my predictions are horrendous.
-
Anyone know Brennan’s average from last season?
-
Don’t give Ritchie Hawkins more thinking to do please it’s more than enough already
-
Just worked it out that you can afford to miss one meeting and break even. But that’s on this years admission price of 19 quid. As far as I can see they haven’t mentioned the admission cost for next year, just the season ticket costs. Maybe the admission will increase..
-
Some nights I just can’t be ar$ed though and make my mind up on the day. I do like the idea of paying up front and getting it done for the season, but can’t justify it really as I know I’ll end up out of pocket.
-
Oh. Not quite so good then.. Edit: Still makes it better than Wolves offering, just! 17.33 a meeting. If Wolves don’t make the final of the cup, or make the play offs, they’ll have to include a couple of individual meetings to allow fans to use the 15 tickets. I know they normally do the Olympique, but they’ll have to do another one
-
So 10 home league fixtures, plus however many this “new competition” contains, plus a premiership pairs round, for a season ticket value of £205 this year. That’s pretty good value compared to previous years isn’t it? Need to have confirmation of the fixture list to see exactly how many fixtures you’re getting for that though, as the amount for this new comp isn’t yet clear from what I see. When you compare to Wolves, who have replaced their season ticket with a book of 15 tickets for 260 quid, ours looks like it could be great value

Take your point about Brennan they could have named him I suppose, but Batchelor clearly stuffed up their plans at the 11th hour so the make up of the team has had to be changed. May take a little while yet.
-
That reminds me of the time Reading rocked up with a couple of riders missing, we had Rory as a guest, he took off his Witches bib, jumped over to the other side of the pits and put on a Reading bib, and both clubs then ran R/R to make it a bit of a contest
-
Even in place of the rising star? Hume is arguably a stronger rider currently than Rowe, not even sure if Hume was on the rising star list? Surely clubs can’t replace their RS for meetings with their number 8’s..
-
Anyone know the rules regarding the number 8’s? Are they simply drafted in to cover absent riders, or do they travel to every meeting as part of the squad and can be used to replace misfiring riders at will?
-
Gone under the radar a bit this. Don’t think you’ll see many better number 8’s if any.
-
To be fair he’s had a fair few seasons in the 7 plus average, none in the 5’s for many years. Is it the start of a permanent decline? Possibly, only time will tell. But 5 and a half looks ridiculously cheap to me..
-
The team is a decent one. If none of us had the figures you’d look at it and be satisfied. It’s the frustration that it could, and SHOULD have been even stronger and feels like a massive missed opportunity. That’s where the disappointment comes for me. It isn’t a title winner, but I wouldn’t bet against it being a top 4 one. A few need to name theirs, but if it’s as rumoured then I think there will be a couple below us in the table.
-
They probably think us fans are stupid and don’t bother with the figures and will just be blinded by the fact Doyle is in the side. I bet you wont find a single mention of averages on any of the article on the official site or social media channels.
-
No idea what that speedway star article was all about then! Can someone get Louis a calculator for Christmas please, his appears to be broken!!
-
Bit bizarre to name all 6, and then leave yourself no wiggle room by having to find a rider with the points you have left. So is it Batchelor or Riss announced in the morning..
-
Interestingly in the speedway star, they say the club will announce one more signing Thursday morning, which will leave the club needing one more to complete the team. So perhaps we may still get closer to the limit after all.
-
Never a doubt Heeps would be in was there?
-
We’ll see.
-
Bit of a difference though isn’t there? Crump was assessed after how many years out? Batchelor achieved his near 9 average season before last and isn’t 46.
-
Has to be doesn’t it? Although I was told Riss was a certainty
