Yes. How did you know? That part was meant to be kept secret till after the staff signing tonight.

I think the new owners are building up the suspense because they have managed to sign up a real blockbuster team, bringing back Doyle and Sayfutdinov, backed up by Lindgren, Robert Lambert, Zmarzlik, Lebedevs with Tai Woffinden as rising star. The 37 points limit was waived….or else! As the new owners said.

I think the Northampton Norbolds has quite a catchy ring to it.

But not sugar, salt or honey.

Bristol had a long history of speedway (1920s-1960s), though its last season before the late 70s was 1961.

If Ipswich don't run, won't Nortthampton have the chance to pick up the riders Ipswich would have had?

What about Northampton?

Northampton? -
Sad news. George Barclay has died at the age of 90. He began his speedway career quite late in life at the age of 31 in 1967, making his debut for my team, West Ham. I got to know him very well after he had retired when I worked with him in the early days of the Speedway Museum in Paradise Wildlife Park. He put a tremendous amount of work into it and it was due to him and his wife Linda, along with Pete Sampson, that it happened at all, going on to become the success it has undoubtedly become today. In addition, as his nickname said, he was a true gentleman. R.I.P. George and thank you.

Does that mean Kelvin won't have Chris at his side to correct him during the GPs ?

Graham Warren had the potential to be World Champion. Third in the 1950 World Championship but a bad accident in New Zealand early in 1951 left him with a fractured skull and, although he returned to the saddle and became a reasonably good rider, he never quite returned to the heights he had reached before his accident, even though he did come 5th twice in the World Championship in 1952 and 53. But he was certainly a case of what might have been. 1963 was his final season before retirement.

That sounds like me. Mind you, the worse "stop start" meetings are the televised ones. I avoid them like the plague! One good by-product of no televised meetings this year!

Official update promised by the end of the week.

Perhaps all us Forum members could chip in a bit to open up a former track: Fleetwood Forumers? -

I remember Olle Nygren, being Wimbledon captain, was enemy no.1 at my team, West Ham. We then signed him up and he became a hero for the Hammers. -
Thanks, Bluey. However, are you sure it's not all just some sort of deep state conspiracy?

One thing I am not clear about here. There seems to be a feeling that CL has received two offers but neither are as much as he wanted. Ok, fine, so he doesn't undersell. What then? Instead of making some money out of a sale, he makes nothing at all. Is that where we are at the moment, or am I missing something?

Nor was Vic Huxley, Tom Farndon, Bluey Wilkinson, Vic Duggan, Jack Young, Ove Fundin, Barry Briggs, Ivan Mauger....it's just impossible to compare riders from different eras and although it gives us fans hours of endless fun speculating, it really is an impossible task to say who was the greatest rider ever. The greatest you've actually seen maybe, but not of all time.

One of whom is Jason Doyle!

Hear hear. Always a highlight that brought in the crowds. -
Now that he's lost his commentating job, how about a comeback for Kelvin Tatum as Ipswich's new no.1?

I have an appointment with my NHS dentist next Wednesday for a check up.

I was going to ask if you'd looked at the Speedway Researcher page......but then I saw that it was you who had compiled it! 😁
