  1. As Midland Red has said, the only person that does the race talking, usually third entering into the 4th bend, is Peter York. He obviously does it at Coventry, but I recall he used to do it also at Reading. It is only of some use if it is audible, but that is almost impossible when the bikes are passing in front of you. I think it can be useful to build it up, but it has to be done in the right way, right volume and by someone without a home bias of course.
  2. Great change in the weather, with the forecast for this Sunday is 10 degrees with no rain. We will be first refixing the cleaned panels on the 1st and 2nd bends, and we will then start washing and refixing as much of the third and forth bends as we can get done. With a good turn out we could even finish all the bends. If you can make it, please do, it will be a big help. Biccies and hot drinks on all day See you then, starting at 9.00am Dave R
  3. Looks like it. I think there was talk of just renting the stadium like most other speedway stadia.
  4. I remember in 1963. my pal and me were on a speedway a night car holiday, and we visited New Cross. Being Northern boys we were not used to coloured immigrants at that time, and we were amazed and shocked to see practically everyone was foreign. People walking down the main street , driving the buses, serving in shops. It was a massive shock to the system to see such an alternative society. We laughed that the only white people in the street were the staff in the Post Office. Sort of symbolic,
  5. Unfortunately Sings$Kings, after your sensible post on the current situation on juniors, you are followed by a sh!te response.
  6. i agree with your sentiments and you could see something like that introduced, when the current drive to produce new young riders throughout the BSPA/SCB initiatives starts producing more kids. Weakening the team strengths in all leagues will help with it, and it will need ideas like yours to keep promotions on their toes.
  7. Yes, and it has been previously announced.
  8. What back tracking ? I openly said that i knew that some teams were not selling BF tickets", because of what they knew of the problems at BV TRUE. Steve Sholvar added that "clubs don't have to take an allocation of tickets because the main buying and billing was through the BV site" TRUE. And I then agreed with him. I think you and ouch need to give yourselves a good shake, especially after posting the post #1871. Let's see what more there is to come out.
  9. It's not really the system that has produced this outcome. It is the doubt of running at BV and Leicester that has produced the unfortunate non signings. As disappointing as it is I am sure they will both get berths in teams before the season is very old.
  10. You seem to be trying to attack two targets at the same time and missing them both. The BSPA and SCB fully support the MDL and NJL( i have a team in this league), but it is Leicester and then Coventry that have decided not to enter the MDL league this season. When the Thompson's change to 250's this season, there is no 250 category in either leagues, so riding at their home tracks, before during and after meetings, is their and Leicester's way of bringing on good British youths by giving them track time. Think before you type.
  11. Due to the rain, and now the -3degrees frost tomorrow, please note we will not be working on the track work tomorrow (Sunday 12th) We will resume next week, weather permitting of course. Dave R
  12. Certainly I would never make that statement, but then it was not the council accountants and auditors that were going to have to pay it. If two emotional proposed buyers will sign anything to try and deliver their dream, others can look from afar and say 'that is nearly impossible to repay at that rate'. I have run a speedway club, so I have more knowledge that most on here, and it doesn't take much to put a few costs together, and get a big minus figure at the end. The original payback figures in the original agreement were highly optimistic and adventurous, but to sign for a much shorter period, escalated the problems to the point of it never being able to be achievable. With new business owners, and a council wanting desperately for the venture to be successful, perhaps all concerned will take a more realist stance on the viability of the venture.
  13. When they signed to pay the loan off in a much short period of time, BV was always going to be a non runner financially. Probably their enthusiasm for BV took over, but from a business perspective, it was suicidal.
  14. He always seemed to do his wrists. I remember one time when he did both wrists in one accident. Bugger to wipe your backside I would imagine.
  15. Ray Morton at Newcastle. He used to get injured every time he was at our place. I joked about it with him, and he just laughed it off. I think it was at Jesper Olsen's Testimonial in about 2002, a Select team were against a Danish Select, when Bjarne's engine seized going past the start gate and Ray was immediately behind him. He tried to ride through a gap that wasn't there and collected Bjarne, bike and fence mesh and I think did his ankle along with a few cuts and bruises. Luckily Bjarne only lost a finger nail if I remember correct.
  16. Yes, there is some good ones coming in, but we need more before we become self sufficient without lower grade foreigners to make up our leagues. Can't agree about the 6 man teams after what we discovered when we had them in 1997.
  17. Until we get enough young Brits to take those team places, we are either talking about DU's or even more foreign riders. Got to be done but it takes time.
  18. And don't Newcastle and Glasgow know it.
  19. I agree. Unfortunately the Gerhard/BSPA deal was probably about 3 months late to be launched.
  20. Quite happy with that, he's not all bad you know. NB Got to laugh at someone who writes to himself. ouch
  21. I quite agree, and the contractors used inferior infill, which was the real cause of the problem, which was covered up with the shale topping. Be interesting to hear everything when the SS is allowed to report on the happenings. It will put to bed a lot of nonsense that has been put on the BSF.
  22. Yes thanks, I thought that after I had posted. Still writes rubbish with any name.
