I believe all riders have to be registered to clubs, and self owning is not allowed in British Speedway. It was phased out probably over 20 years ago, and I think that Neil Evitts was one of the last to self own.

That's not the point though is it. He is speculating with fantasy figures for his own purposes. They give everyone a false picture, just the same as 'the average' doesn't tell what the top earners get which is what he is also wanting to know. As I and others have said, why should the wages of riders be known, when it is a personal matter what deal a rider is on. 'What does a rider earn', then begs the question off what is paid to the rider by the promotion, and what and how much is he also getting in terms of a wage or a sponsorship from a sponsor. One riders earnings from his team doesn't corollate with another earnings of a fellow rider who might be part paid or on a guarantee. There are bigger things in Speedway to contend with than personal earnings.

Don't know who reported that, but I and people around me, thought it was about an average crowd for a Sunday single meeting. Not many Worky fans on sight, but some Redcar fans for a change. Some decent racing on a slick hard track to ensure it got though two meetings. Very noticeable that after the cold descended, the track seemed slippy from cold moisture coming up thorough the track. More falls probably due to that than any other reason. Ludde had a bad tumble going into the second fence, but apparently both his rear chain and the primary chain snapped at the same time and brought him down. Worky not at the races with their weak team, but the Redcar meeting had some good races which kept it interesting. With Robert having his big off in heat 10, the worry was Redcar would come back to grab the bonus point they needed to jump a place in the final league table. The 5-1 in heat 13 steadied the scoring and a 7 point win was achieved. The wait now is to see whether the gate justifies the return of speedway next year. Some of the more vocal critical fans were not there so if we don't run next year, they can look in the mirror to see who to blame for the decision. A decent night but bloody cold for a double header. Why cant we run speedway as a summer sport.

It has been explained that many think it is a, and should be, a private and personal matter, and you are now attacking a respected official of a club who has a good pedigree in the sport. Beautiful day here at Newcastle this morning. Sun out and no rain or even forecast. Expect track will be heavy and grippy, but with two meetings it will dry out, and we will get some decent racing in pleasant weather. Pleased with the changes that have been made to the two oppositions, but we unfortunately are missing out on Cookie who attended the BL end of season night last night. Should be a good occasion especially at £20 for this double header. The club needs everyone to attend today to show there is support for it to continue. Don't not go, and then moan when, or if, we don't open next year. KEEP NEWCASTLE SPEEDWAY RUNNING BY ATTENDING.

But more likely to be upheld than in an asset situation. In a true asset situation, the rider would be owned by the promotion and therefore would need permission to ride anywhere else, including Poland, Sweden Denmark, etc. A registration only applies to this country, which would be much more acceptable, but its never going to be challenged as a rider will always ride where he wants to ride, therefore it is not a restraint of trade. And for which you would be allowed to a sum of £50, and obviously must have signed the transfer document as it is a three party transaction.

Quite agree. Pay is a personal issue for riders, and what they get is nowhere near the ridiculous figures suggested by some wasting bandwidth on here.

Redcar usually has practice days on each third Saturday on the month. This month it is on Sunday 22nd, but It is planned for those with their own equipment, but they do do days when you can hire equipment.

Depends if they continue with race night seniority, and if teams will agree to race without some riders, say racing abroad.

Yes, and the good thing is that the dog track is on the outside of the Speedway track, so the first sport to be affected by any building encroachment would be the dogs.

I think one problem that has affected gates this year is the temporary absence of the upstairs bar and restaurant. Having new owners, they decided to give these areas a massive facelift that these places had needed. Unfortunately they found asbestos and, instead of the three weeks originally planned, it took considerable longer. This was also extended because an electrician working on the project was electrocuted quite badly and hospitalised, whilst the incident then had to be investigated by the H & S Executive. During this lengthy absence, people who usually occupied these areas, either moved outside but many stopped coming because of their personal preference not to stand outside. The refurbished areas are now open, but I would assume that some fans have got out of the habit of coming, and stayed at home especially with our recent rainoffs. Please note, that all of the things I have highlighted above are not down to the quality of the product and were completely out of the control of the promotion. With the actual costs of the rain offs, quoted as £5K each, there must be losses which a sport like ours can't carry. By returning and getting others back, the promotion can then think before the AGM in November, whether they can carry on next year with new hope that such costs were just a one-off for this year. Get behind the team if you want it to continue. When it's gone, it is gone.

It was stated on the updates it was 42-30 after heat 12, but the score for heat 12 was down as a 3-3 when in fact it was a 4-2.

Depends if you use the 100w double filament one, or the 150w single filament one.

Actually, on Facebook Ged reacted to my post saying he was wrong, and should have been punished. In reply he implied that he had made a payment to my club, Newcastle, and when I asked "Why ?" he did not reply. It can be assumed, I think, that he has made some payment to Newcastle to offset any losses that my club may have incurred. Pleased he didn't answer as Facebook is not the arena for such discussions.

Yes, I remember both Pete Lansdale and Trevor Redmond riding for their own teams.
