  1. Ipswich PlayOff meeting delayed to get all the crowd in tonight. Shocking isn't it.
  2. And then some people laugh at fans being preoccupied with filling in the programme. I am with you as it is an important part of the evening and its enjoyment.
  3. Not been to Brough for awhile then ? By choice it has dirt on it to improve the racing. Anyway, better not talk about speedway, it's a Redcar thread.
  4. That'll be the Glyn Taylor who crafted the track for you, and was responsible for making a decent racing track in the early days. Given your history I don't think many Bears fans would agree with you, as many people moaned the fact that he wasn't there to get a decent track back. It has improved this year. Think you need to recount your corners as in my experience it is the first bend that seems to trouble your riders when Richie is about, notably with Kus and Summers. Shouts of "hope you broke your fu*king neck' from the bar terraces, which is on the 1st bend not the 4th bend. Disgusting.
  5. On the other side, it does give others, who can't make your new race day, a chance to come back on nights which suits them best.
  6. cheeky cobra must have missed that meeting.
  7. I have seen many bad crashes coming off the 4th bend. I can recall 2 in particular when Josh Auty(riding for the Bears) overdid it and couldn't get it back on line and went straight into the straight fence. Another was a junior carrying too much speed. I have also seen juniors in the NJL hit it hard. You can't judge the number of accidents on the number of air bags damaged. For a start there isn't any on the home straights part, something I think is unsafe and you should have about 3 panels to cover the accidents we are talking about. A similar track pits exit like Glasgow does have them there, and I am amazed you are not required to have at least three there. I think 1 and 2 are proper corners and can have good race lines. There is a lot of drive normally, and can see some decent overtakes with inside and on the outside.
  8. Sunderland is only 13 miles away from Newcastle and there are distinct differences between them with key words like when they say spune, Luke and buke instead of spoon, look and book. (Note the double OO's) Funnily enough that also are used to the thee and thou words as well. It happens often for a judge to say thee were caught pinching out of the till and as a punishment thou shall attend every home match of Sunderland FC. Could have been a visiting Judge of course.
  9. Try to use your brains for your replies. I am there more that once or twice, but my comments were made based on the regular contributors on Redcar threads expressing their dismay at the reducing number of fans on a weekly basis, when you were totally rubbish under Havvy. Let's not pretend it didn't happen because it did. I also talk to folks who did come down even when the Diamonds are not riding, and they confirmed your then worrying crowd levels. The new promotion came in just in time, as you could not have sustained speedway on the old numbers. I am pleased to see the reversal. In your early days you had regular crashes of riders coming off the forth bend too fast, and going straight into the fence on the straight. Or are you denying that. I used to come down to see Glyn, and with riders that were living at our house, so I was a very frequent attendee.
  10. During last year and the year before when numbers were disappearing every week. We turned up with our usual droves, and all you could see was black and whites. Even on here everyone was saying their concerns and worries with such a lack of support. Typical of some Bears fans to deny the obvious, and not recognise the cracking support we have gave you over the years. But not returned at Brough of course. NB Does Jitendra also do Dictionaries for spelling.
  11. Too touchy CH. As a Diamond fan I have been very supportive of Redcar, and your promotion, and 'fueltaps' is only trying to quantify what a decent crowd at STMP is this season. You have done very well this year, and are even above us this year. Look for the bigger picture.
  12. Of course. Water will always drain off a bald banked track.
  13. Not true David. Most popular accent was Geordie in a survey for call centres. Bottom to the list was Brummie Black Country accents as nee body cud understand or be bothad with what they were tackin aboot like.
  14. Definitely not. Points limits attempt to equal all teams strengths , no rider control and some of the current problems will be magnified.
  15. The general discussion was not about Newcastle, but the completion of comps by set dates for each round. As it happens we haven't done too bad, but we did volunteer to not run on the 7th May. We could have used Monday nights to get rid of some of the outstanding meetings.
  16. It's Berwick and they say that using the covers has saved a vast number of home meetings and rescued and stopped a loss in revenue. Of course Berwick has no dog track sheeters or an inflatable airfence to erect so they don't have to have the same workforce, so they are in a better situation to get others to do the covers occasionally. It was also mentioned that one advantage to have is a banked track as the water runs down to the drains, which is true in Berwick case. I also think your last highlighted passage is a highly relevant fact, and could be why a lot of money and effort is not expended on rescuing a sodden track. Why once again blow your brains out spending vast investments, when the racing could be crap and played out in front of a greatly reduced crowd.
  17. More effort should have been made to fill empty race nights early on.
  18. So difficult to even estimate their average as I usually go for our 2 league meetings and a cup or friendly, and our travelling support used to almost double their crowds like last year. This year even with our visiting fans there, was a lot more of home fans and they usually quote the 25% increase which I think is about right. We usually give them their biggest gates. Size or numbers are in the eyes of the beholder. One man's dick can be 10inches, as opposed to the actual 5 inches that others see.
  19. It it rains at the wrong time say just before or during the meeting, covers will count for nothing. As well as a stop away crowd you have a sodden unraceable track or have riders with vision problems unable to see(last years Playoffs at BV and Kyle Newman). Covers are a big undertaking in not just capital but the additional workers to lay them at short notice, and the same extra workers to remove them in time for the track curator with sufficent time and decent conditions to try and put water into the track evenly and still raceable. Most tracks could not get those extra sheeters, as you normally have difficulties to recruit and replace the ones you have for dog track sheeting, airforce, pits gate, red flaggers. It is hard and getting harder. For them to work you need more workers, access to the track, and predictable rain patterns. No way covers on rollers can work given the dirt around and, if a dog stadium, probably not get permission to have the rollers which would then be in the gap between the wire fence and the inside dog rail.
  20. To be fair John, the fixture situation is a very fluid one with our outstanding opponents also trying to arrange their fixtures when they have their full team. There are permutations, but then other teams lose riders or arrange other fixtures so everything is changed again. At the present moment Glasgow would have been concentrating and prioritising their ties with Sheffield and beyond, but that is now likely to change big time with their heavy defeat at Sheffield last Thursday. Whilst they could have stood off certain dates for the next round, they now face losing out in the PlayOffs at tomorrows home meeting in the second leg, so they can now make themselves available when they thought they couldn't. With the postponement of the PLRC yesterday, they have agreed to rerun it at Glasgow, but this time of their usual race night which is a Saturday. That's one less race night for them, but it means we have still got 4 Sundays to utilise for our fixtures outstanding. If we beat Glasgow we would need meetings for the semifinals and even might for the Final against either Ipswich or Sheffield. It is ridiculous that all teams have so many meetings to cram in in such a short period, and you think that some haven't made much effort during the season to fit in some of the postponed meetings. It's crazy situation.
