Seconded Some interesting suggestions above. Hopefully whatever is agreed will also be accepted by all clubs, whatever they do. And hopefully the hornets will be in action in 2011.

Yep we have been, all newport fans have heard rumours about this for a long time. Much will depend on the rules they set for next season i think, while other clubs have been expressing an interest in joining, or the possibility of running, we dont even know . Itll be such a shame if we do, i feel sorry for the likes of Tim Webster, JWW, Tom Young, Granted situation will be resolved and we will all know soon but it will be sad if we do. Im a student and pretty much went to every hornets meeting & wasps meeting i could go to last year, and our attendances for the hornets meetings were seriously poor, but hopefully they will run again next year, and all the young riders we have got will be given places in a hornets team, but i dont think any wasps fan would be surprised if we didnt run .

Actually is 4. Strauss,Prior, KP & Trott. 3 dual nationality, and KP qualified on residency. KP & Trott did come over here for the money,Central contracts are incredible in comparison too what ave county cricketers earn. Wonder if theyd have come over to play for glammy if they were forced too, seriously doubt it. People seem also to forget all the foreign coaches england have had & the Kolpak players that have improved the domestic game, & also allowing Scots & Irish players too qualify for residency. Without the improvements within the game & additions mentioned, plus Australias decline then think England would have struggled, Would Freddie & Simon Jones learnt the art of reverse swing, would the likes of Cook, Broad, Finn have come through as quickly if they didnt play in such a competitive league, or be of as high quality. Would the likes of tremlett made the step up, if they didnt have the luxury of the england A side. Would the likes of Jimmy Anderson, Ian Bell have improved as much seriously doubt it. People seem to ignore all that. As for british speedway, unless there is a radical overhaul not much will change.I think whatever way you look at it things need to be looked at with regards to assessed averages, but seriously doubt they will be, why would EL Promoters have any interest in changing it, The next big foreign talent, or foreign riders are the best options for them. As for oppurtunities for brits i think it needs to be looked at in the future but isnt ready to be looked at yet. Any radical overhaul in policy regarding forcing clubs to use brits, is only going to encourage richer clubs under current rules to chuck money at the best young talent which will result in the exact same situation as we have with regards to the foreigners signing for EL clubs. For me, ive said on other threads, that all these riders moving up from NL to PL progressed so much because of the NL last year, why do they want to move up becuase they need to race against better riders if they want to progress & improve. Reducing the competitive nature of the NL wont be in the best interests of the young riders IMO.

Im a newport fan and post on both,or have tried too I think its hard to generate interest on an official one when as you point out Lioness we already have an established unofficial one, that is friendly fun popular & doesnt take things too seriously. However an official one if used in the right way could be a very useful tool& can have a place & a purpose. Whether that happens is another question though. -
Thankyou EdwardIan & thankyou for taking the time to reply

I think whats most important is that the young british lads whos careers start out in the league are given the most competitive, supportive, progressive environment that they can race in. For me the NL has made great progress irrespective of peoples viewpoints regarding, commonwealth riders/british passport holders/old hands(experienced riders) etc etc If you look at the likes of garrity, the worrals, perry, birks, morris et al that developed vastly last year. For me the quality of riders coming through has been the best its been for a number of years (due to the fact that for me it was the most entertaining & competitive its ever been.) Whats most important is that continues. Whatever the decisions next year, its what is in the best interests of those riders that is important not fans viewpoints regarding these issues. I will continue to support the NL whatever rules are put in place & take an interest in it even if the hornets do not run next year.

Belle Vue Colts Apply For National League
CrystalCastles replied to Rob B's topic in National League Speedway
Brilliant news that they even are considering it I hope it all works out & it gets the support it deserves -
Just my opinion but if its about building for the future and with the aim of getting back into the PL. Stoke need to sign the best riders they can that are available. Also as has been pointed out Stoke need to have a succesful season next year, and getting a rider like Compton as well as a couple of young Aussies would be a good way of not only being succesful but attracting supporters back. Taylor was great last year, and there are quite a few Aussies who are not far behind in terms of ability that have been mentioned by Vog & a few others that would be worth taking.
-
Nice to see you joining in spinny Compton riding NL full stop would be fun Would be good to have him in the league
-
TA & Koppe would be good signings, along with one of the baseby brothers, & evans that would be a good top 4 assuming that rules stay the same.
-
Agree, although i can understand jims point regarding cov & pboro & the future of the sport But the NL has its own agm for a reason, it shouldnt just be getting put back (if it has been) because of the mess created by others.
-
Jim the whipper i understand your points but do you honestly believe they are going to sort all the problems out with british speedway? I agree patience is needed but on the otherside it just shows how much of a joke the people who run this sport are. These so called professionals are the ones who allowed it to get into this mess in the first place through self interest, these are the vary same people who are going to sort it all out??? The point of agms is to discuss sort out resolve & implement rules changes, not to allow things to get into a mess. A professionally run sport would have tried to sort out the mess from the start, not after the threat of legal action its only come the organisations biggest priority since then, when it should have been dealt with in house & they would have all league rules sorted and planned out for the next few years. All loopholes within rules would be closed so that they couldnt be exploited or interpreted by people seeking to gain an advantage. All this plodding along discussing things is probably realisitically only going to be resolving whether cov & pboro will ride in the EL, or any other league, what averages certain riders come in on, & how they can all save face if a comprimise is reached. I would be highly surprised if every problem that exists within our sport is now being looked at & considered for the good of the sport & trying to create clear directions going forward, clear rules that cant be interpretated differently etc etc etc I highly suspect a number of problems that exist whatever the outcomes of these meetings are before the start of the 2011 season, will still exist by the end of 2011....and will still be left unresolved.

Thankyou for your reply vog, & yes thats all true, just a shame that the thread hasn't had much activity on it for a month. Hope you had a nice Christmas and have a good new year. As for next year if we dont run at NL level, then i will be supporting the potters. Hopefully we will but if not then i will be looking out for the results of the potters. Cant see Mr Vasey having a problem in attracting some good youngsters to the club and he will build a team that it going to improve.Personally i hope they keep the rules the same as last year. As IMO this will give stoke the best chance of maximising entertainment & attracting fans, as well as challenging for the NL. Hopefully the stoke fans will give the NL a chance, it has become a much more competitive league, and from watching it for a number of years, IMO last year was its best ever year.

Can't believe its gone so quiet. Glad stoke got some big meetings for there fans next year

Mildenhall - Who Decides Who The New Promoter Is?

Hopefully, would be a great bit of positive news -
It's not him its his twin brother
-
KL will be able to build a really strong team at NL level in 2011......should be another good year of NL racing for the Young Stars....given the options they have for out & out NL heat leaders as well as the vast improvement shown by a number of the younger riders last year.

He could also deliver us fans a curry
