  1. Middlesbrough closed for good (1996?) but have since re-opened as Redcar of course.
  2. Odsal is too big for league speedway with today's crowds. Big meetings will be better served by the purpose-built Belle Vue so I can't see any viable use case for it.
  3. Do you not think if it was that easy someone wouldn't already be running it? Basically, the current owners have no intention of allowing it to be used by any tenant, preferring to see it fall into disrepair.
  4. Next month. Don't get too excited though - it's only a parade, no racing.
  5. What are the odds of the bulldozers 'accidentally' flattening it?
  6. Grasstrack is on its knees apart from a couple of meetings a year.
  7. Talk about an overreaction! Plenty of observational comments but nothing untoward here that I can see.
  8. No idea how many crashes were his fault but Wayne Briggs seemed to be in plaster for most of his career.
  9. On the few occasions I had a go, keeping things in at the other end was more of a concern!
  10. I keep seeing this in regard to Mike but he won everything of note that he could have. World champ in speedway & longtrack, WTC winner, British champ, BLRC winner when it actually meant something. A pretty tidy list by most standards.
  11. Rob Grant once scored a 12pt max as a No.8 for Berwick at Barrow in 1981. Unfortunately for him, Berwick's results that season were later expunged so it is not now officially recognized. Still some feat though.
  12. I guess you mean Tom Hark, probably The Piranhas version.
  13. Would be poor vfm at some tracks e.g less than 40secs per race at Plymouth.
  14. Wasn't Robert Craven Peter's son? Another hard act to follow if so.
  15. SOLD: Speedway Stars Jan 1989-Nov 2003 in vgc. Free of charge, collection only from Southampton area.ken Update: Now taken.
  16. In truth, the decline was well underway before then but that was the straw that broke the camel's back for me. The poor racing combined with the loss of the classic speedway roar was too much to bear.
  17. Metaphorically. There will be no sign of it on those bland race jackets though.
  18. Which London fans are these, the ones that didn't even support the last London tracks in sufficient numbers to prevent them from closing down? Or are you aware of thousands just waiting to visit a new track in Swindon?
