Change is OK - as long as it is change for the better. The problem is a lot of the changes made so far have made things worse. None of us 'oldies' object to change as long as it is beneficial to our Sport. The record of changes so far is woeful indeed.

I hope I haven't complained too much regarding my Post - I try to allow other folk their viewpoint too Humphrey. You will not get any complaints from me about any of the Posts objecting to my position. The Forum is for Debate and part of that is accepting that other people will have a differing view to myself. I accept that, and the counter arguments that go with it. I hate being called a LIAR though - because that is something I am not. If I was - I would not be so open and honest with my views. I am still waiting for an apology from orion for that - and that only.

BW - I am no Ward lackey. I have stated my point of view before - 12 Month Ban and 12 Month Ban suspended for two years as long as there are no further 'incidents'. That is my view only. Tsunami probably won't agree with me - he is entitled to disagree - that is what debate is about. Tsunami is right when he says that some of the comments on here are over the top - that is why I 'Liked' his Posts. It has nothing to do with sycophancy - it is only a different point of view.

Yes - I am. I'm from Sunderland. Ken Sharples was, as you rightly say, part of the great Newcastle 1964 Team. He should not have been. He started off as a Sunderland 'Saints' Rider but we, of course, were closed down after NINE Meetings in order to strengthen firstly Wolverhampton who were bottom of the League at the time - Airey, Guasco and McKee went there and Sharples went to Newcastle. Newcastle went on to win the League - Sharples was a revelation and Airey, Guasco, and McKee ended up at Wolverhampton who went on to finish Third in the Provincial League. The reasons given for closure of Sunderland were the Weather and low Crowds. At the penultimate 'Saints' Match there were 8,000 there (Source: Sunderland Echo) and we never had a rained off Meeting in 1964. Add to that that Newcastle didn't close and we are only twelve miles away from there and mostly share the same Weather patterns. YES!!! You could say that we had a lot to thank Messrs Parker and Bridgett for - but I don't think so. Am I bitter - YES I AM!!!! I've never - over the last FIFTY years - forgiven them for that. Add to my List: Vic Ridgeon, Russ Dent and Maury McDermott.

Sensible Post. Because of that I will try to explain my standpoint to you. Racism, to me, is about hating people from other Races. I don't. I admire the 'Sikhs' far too much for that. I have no problem with colour of skin either - to me a person is a person no matter what colour they are. My main argument is that we take far too many people in to this Country who do not qualify, at any level, to be here. Now Professional or hard working people from any Race, Creed or Colour should be made welcome here as long as they abide by the Law of the Land and do not try to change OUR culture.. (that is a big one for me). We cannot continue to bring in unlimited amounts of people who are of no benefit whatsoever to our Country. The infrastructure just will not take much more. Housing, Schools and the National Health Service cannot cope as it is. Because of this I have my position and I will stick to it. It is NOT Racism in my book, it is common sense. Perhaps I did word my original Post badly, perhaps not, but I have tried to explain my position.
