  1. I forgot, my memory isn't what it once was, forgive me. Freddie Williams and Peter Craven surely should be mentioned on here. I never saw either of them Race - but - BOTH were two time World Champions. They definitely would have been among my favourites had I seen them ride. :approve:
  2. I don't believe Mark Loram actually won a GP when he won the World Championship. He was, however, the most consistent Rider over the Series that year.
  3. Sadly I think that the Weather has been the big Winner this Season. This, of course, leading to Fixture congestion towards the end of the Season. Perhaps, knowing the vagaries of a British Summer, some serious thought needs to be given to the number of Meetings/Competitions the Clubs have to Race in.
  4. Crumbs!!! Reading some of the Posts on here - it must be great to be perfect.
  5. As the Site has not been identified yet - perhaps it may be somewhere else. Hopefully so reading your comments.
  6. Fair point - it may mean the dilution of British Speedway for a year or two - but - as British lads come through and develop we just might, eventually, be able to field a Great Britain Team in the World Cup that is worthy of the name.
  7. Good Post. Add to that you might get your Local Team staying together for a bit more than a single Season - you might even get to know your Riders - perhaps have a drink in the Bar with them. Happy days!!
  8. You have just made a very good Case for standardised Engines.
  9. Another who came to mind was Edward Jancarz of Wimbledon. I was reminded whilst watching the GP. A great Rider in my opinion.
  10. Sorry Dave - I withdrew my comment without being asked. I genuinely did not want to upset anyone. I AM however entitled to my views on any Rider I wish to comment on. THAT is what this Forum is for - or so I thought. Some folk are far too sensitive.
  11. Yes - a bit of a misery - but - a terrific Rider. Another great favourite of mine was Jim Airey. :approve:
  12. I loved watching them - but - they weren't out of the top drawer like Briggo etc. I just noticed that neither of us mentioned Mauger - that was NOT a mistake on my part. A great Rider - but - never one of top favourites.
  13. Are you trying to argue that Ward should receive a soft sentence? He has done the Crime - now he must 'Do the Time'. I like watching Darcy Ward - BUT - he seemed very arrogant when giving his interview regarding not being 'Hydrated'. He is a great Rider, true, but he needs to show more respect to Speedway and his Racing colleagues.
  14. Easy to see which era you are from sidney. Briggo, PC, Chris Morton, Simmo, Martin Ashby, Jason Crump, Phil Crump, Bengt Jansson, Graeme Smith (Style), Jack Millen (Entertainment). I'm surprised there is no place in your Top Ten for Michael Lee.
  15. Probably the best line in the whole Thread. Well put Wackie.
  16. See the highlighted part of the Original Post I have quoted above Dave.
  17. I agree with that sidney - a truly GREAT time to be watching Speedway. No 'rose coloured spectacles' here, just the plain truth.
  18. I have great memories of Arthur riding for Birmingham back in the Seventies.
