Who Are People's All Time Favourites.?
The White Knight replied to stratton's topic in Years Gone By
Yes - a bit of a misery - but - a terrific Rider. Another great favourite of mine was Jim Airey. :approve: -
Who Are People's All Time Favourites.?

I loved watching them - but - they weren't out of the top drawer like Briggo etc. I just noticed that neither of us mentioned Mauger - that was NOT a mistake on my part. A great Rider - but - never one of top favourites. -
Darcy Ward
The White Knight replied to Seymour Dix's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Are you trying to argue that Ward should receive a soft sentence? He has done the Crime - now he must 'Do the Time'. I like watching Darcy Ward - BUT - he seemed very arrogant when giving his interview regarding not being 'Hydrated'. He is a great Rider, true, but he needs to show more respect to Speedway and his Racing colleagues. -

Easy to see which era you are from sidney. Briggo, PC, Chris Morton, Simmo, Martin Ashby, Jason Crump, Phil Crump, Bengt Jansson, Graeme Smith (Style), Jack Millen (Entertainment). I'm surprised there is no place in your Top Ten for Michael Lee. -

New Track For Milton Keynes

See the highlighted part of the Original Post I have quoted above Dave. -
I agree with that sidney - a truly GREAT time to be watching Speedway. No 'rose coloured spectacles' here, just the plain truth.

Arthur Browning At The Classic Tt

I have great memories of Arthur riding for Birmingham back in the Seventies. -

  Middlo should have said this earlier - but crucially he didn't. What he did say, it is alleged, is that he (Middlo) hoped that he (Ward) would 'get away with it'. Obviously he has seen the light. -
New Track For Milton Keynes
The White Knight replied to Main Man's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
VERY, VERY BEST WISHES to Milton Keynes. :approve: Does it get any better than this - thumped Manchester United one day, a couple of days later it is announced that Speedway may be returning. -
I honestly believe that if Phil Crump had held his 'Four Valve' back until the World Final - he would have won it. He rode it too early. I thought Phil Crump was a superb Rider.

Hopes For The Pl In 2015
The White Knight replied to topaz325's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I have been banging on about this for ages. Tracks that are basically the same as they were in 1928 (apart from Air Fences) and Bikes that are rocket ships in comparison to the original type of Bike that raced on them. You are 100% correct - the speed of the Bikes does need to be slowed. This would not, in my opinion, spoil the entertainment value - but it would be safer and less expensive. I would imagine a few Engine Tuners would throw their hands in the air at what I am going to say next. Engines should be manufactured so that Riders themselves could work on them - this again would reduce costs. None of this will happen though - too many vested interests involved. -

Aaaahhhhh - a Poole Supporter - that explains your view. -

That shouldn't make any difference - he admitted it didn't he? The way things are going - I doubt he will even get that. I do, however, hope I am wrong. -

I don't believe the TOP Team take part in the Football League Play Offs. -
Hopes For The Pl In 2015
The White Knight replied to topaz325's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Would they really? If you have a League Competition - it is just that - a League Competition. The Team at the TOP is the Winner - THAT is an incontrovertible FACT. You can have Play Off Competitions if you wish but they CANNOT (should not) be for the League Championship. They should be run as a separate Competition. Do you see a Play Off System in the Premier League Football Competition - of course you don't - the Team that finishes TOP are the League Champions - that is the way a LEAGUE is run in the REAL World. For those who support the Play Offs - you are supporting a GIMMICK nothing else, just a pure gimmick. -

The Future Of The Elite League
The White Knight replied to SarahLapworth's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Yes - the Premier League looks after itself - just as well - it would be downright silly to do anything else. As regards 'self serving' - I don't see the Elite League handing out Cheques to Premier League Clubs from the SKY money. So - who is self serving now?
