The 4 Hours Speedway Meeting....
The White Knight replied to SCB's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Where was this SCB? -
Make me No. 6 - I didn't know either. Thanks r&r - I will have to pay more attention. The trouble is my memory isn't very good. If I get up to go to the loo - I've forgotten by the time I get back. No hope for me I'm afraid. I'm not ill or anything - just a very bad memory.

The Days - or - the Crowds BOBBATH? Both for me.

I gathered that from your Username. If they did away with the Starting Gate - where would you go? -
Me too Sid. He had already beaten Mauger.

My best was 254. My Average was: 303 I think I beat you Bruno. I still think Ivan Mauger would have won our Race - don't you? EDIT: Just check my screen again. Not 274 but 254. -
I have a copy of the Programme somewhere in my cupboards too Bruno.

One of the greatest experiences of my life was being at Wembley in 1972 for the World Final. My only disappointment was Briggo's injury. I have been to Cardiff too. It simply doesn't compare. Great occasions at Wembley, sadly now lost to Speedway.

Stuart Robson has fallen foul of the 'anticipation' situation too on a number of occasions. -
Ooops - I'm off to Specsavers. Many apologies Aces51. SORRY.

....................... and what about the other 90%?

Indeed I did - I didn't agree with that either. It is my contention that there should be nothing that contrives 'close' Results. It is wrong. However the luminaries at the head of our Sport wish to create a false impression, in the Results, of a close Meeting. Well good luck to them with that - I want nothing to do with it. As regards "cutting off my nose to spite my face" - some will no doubt look at it that way. However - I have made a stand and I intend to stick with it. I will be attending Redcar when a Sunderland 'Stars' Team will be racing at Redcar - I am looking forward to seeing the old Sunderland Racejackets back on Track again. -
You can never beat the Postal Service - I've given up trying. My Post comes when it comes - I don't care any more. We are supposed to be progressing - I remember in the late Fifties I used to get three Deliveries a day - now I'm lucky to get one. Still - that's progress I suppose.

Certainly, when speaking to Freddie Williams he told me that he could remember riding in front of 70,000 plus at Wembley. Hope this help gustix.

It is not an excuse at all. It is a reason - there is a difference. I would also like to point out that there are times when you have to stand up for what you believe in. I believe that Double Points contrives Results, is cheating and goes against my sporting values. You may not like that - but crucially that is how I feel. My stance is my right and I don't take kindly to other people presuming to tell me my motives. I don't ask anyone else to stop going - but personally I will not go until such times as I can enjoy my Speedway again - I will not go to Speedway Meetings in order to get myself upset and angry. Where is the pleasure in that? There are folk on this Forum who know how annoyed I get. -
The only reason I ask is that as far as I know he is still presenting for Look North. He was on yesterday.
-
Perhaps he will 'steam ride' a bit more this Season. I didn't know that Jeff had left Look North - when did that happen?
-
Coventry 'Bees', have always, as far as I know, been Coventry 'Bees'. I wouldn't be very happy with a change of name (nothing to do with me, of course) the the 'Bees' Logo is Coventry Speedway Team and traditionally always has been. As a traditionalist - I would hate to see the famous Coventry 'Bees' called anything else.

I have been a regular attendee at both Newcastle and Redcar in the recent past and have been made extremely welcome at both Tracks by most people. There is a great camaradie at both Newcastle and Redcar and I would have no hesitation, but for Double Points, returning to watch my Speedway at either. Plenty of witty banter and fun. Both great Tracks with great Supporters and lovely people. -
I'm not that surprised - if it isn't a round thing kicked around by over paid prima donnas - they aren't interested.
-
 I felt sure that you would be there both days Dandelion. :)

No not yet. I have been to both Hyde Road of blesséd memory and Kirkmanshulme Lane on a number of occasions. Belle Vue have been my Club from when I was a child. I am now nearly 72 and still support them and my local Teams too. My first Team though (apart from Sunderland obviously) was always Belle Vue. Sadly - I no longer have a Sunderland Team to support and haven't had since 1974.
