Sheffield - for sale
old bob at herne bay replied to Cue Ball's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Owlerton is quite narrow but with long straights. Always compared it to Kingsmead. Guess on the high revving laydowns - you get it wrong and you will rapidly run out of room. -
What will 2026 UK speedway bring?
old bob at herne bay replied to Lionsman66's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
We started 2025 with 16 team of 7 riders, total 112 riders. Quick check showed that there were only 90 unique riders , cos of double uppers. So enough riders to complete almost 13 teams with no double uppers allowed. Maybe they will follow one of county cricket's rejected ideas of 2 zones of 6 sides (north could have 7) . Each would race each other twice home and away. Top two clubs in each zone race the p.offs. you could have a separate KO cup competition all clubs drawn outh of the hat In speedways case the "south" zone would be Plymouth Poole Ipswich Oxford Kings Lynn and Leicester The rest woudl be "north" Race nights - well good luck with that. -

Withthe uncertainty surrouinding how mnay leagues will be runnning next season ... what are you buying ? a team of assets who might or minght not be able to ride for you next season ? If I were a Sheffield supporter, I would be worried. 😞 -
Poole Blue Riband 24/9/25
old bob at herne bay replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Oh no ..... not another cheat. 😞 Thought all methanol had to be purchased at the track to avoid this sort of thing happening ? Then we had Edward Kennett and the infamous silencer tampering scandal - a Poole Rider at the time I think ? All tyres have to be issued at the track after the tyre tampering scandal some years ago - oh I think that involved the Poole team too ? -
Ipswich Witches 2025
old bob at herne bay replied to Aries's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Looks like a good and interesting formula of racing at Tiger's Academy . Nice to see something a little different from the usual 15 heat formula . Hope the youngsters dont get over enthusiastic and try out the air fence too often. Ipswich were always leaders in doing something different with their 16 lapper being innovative. -
Poole Blue Riband 24/9/25
old bob at herne bay replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Oh dear ... you thought that they could have invited a couple of NDL riders along as track reserves ? Running races with riders missing. Very amateur and would have expected better from promoter Ford. Whats all this guff about Lawson and fuel testing - whats he running on nitro ? -
Be interested in the crowd tonight (if they even know about hte increased admission ?) Season ticket holders presumably get this meeting included in their package? Very much a Poole past prsenet and future line up .... still even the novices and veterans will be offered he same points money as everyone else ....

Looks like Poole past present and future line up ? MAybe teh danes are there in case Poole move race night ? Oh I have just seen a pink pig fly past my window. Also heard Kennett pulled out of GrassTrack with an injured ankle. Think he will struggle hasnt ridden for a season or two ? -
Same old same old for 2026 is my guess. How many teams will line up in the PL 2026 - No Birmingham, Oxford Spires ?? Cannot see any new venues being ready for 2026, and with the usual struggle to finish fixtures now looming, maybe fewer clubs in the PL would help. Would make gaining a p.off place much more likely with only Kings Lynn likely to miss out. The CL continues to rumble on - only Workington seemed to be struggling at one stage , but all likely to estart in 2026? The slowly decaying fanbase seeems to be hanging on in areas where there still is speedway racing. 100th anniversary in 2028 - might just make it 🙂

Bears v Poole Sunday 14th Sept.
old bob at herne bay replied to Coraldon's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Same every season……all the prime fixtures are run on muddy tracks in dodgy weather with p. Poor racing. record breaking low rainfall throughout the summer and we have spasmodic fixtures due to British gp, swc, bournemouth playing football, England playing tiddlywinks, and any number of random excuses. last Thursdays FTG at Ippo due to wet track conditions was an example. … -
Kent Vs Birmingham 7/9/25
old bob at herne bay replied to Fozzie4388's topic in National League Speedway
here we go " should have" - yes I agree. But they didn't .... and allowed the guest facility to stand pre meeting. That "should" have been the end of it ...... not changing the decision post hoc . They are now open to challenge over the manner in which Rushen's points have just simply been been deducted. The simplistic solution really doesnt stand scrutiny. In cases in a meeting where a winning rider is excluded "post hoc" for say losing a silencer , the following rider is awarded the 3 point win etc etc. In the last heat where Rushen lapped a rider , the lapped rider should have his points reinstated. All gets very messy. The actions of the scb bring the sport into disrepute. -
Ipswich v Belle Vue POSF Leg 2
old bob at herne bay replied to blue witch's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Just had one of those passing heavy showers in Herne Bay . Belle Vue have more than an evens chance if the track is too wet as it will upset the home side . -
Ipswich v Belle Vue POSF Leg 2
old bob at herne bay replied to blue witch's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
weather looks dodgy for this one . Showers all afternoon and evening according the the met office forecasts. in line with poole and oxford this week will Ippo take advantage of the early call off due to weather forecast option. ? -
Kent Vs Birmingham 7/9/25
old bob at herne bay replied to Fozzie4388's topic in National League Speedway
Always good for a laugh the "SCB" you could not make it up , they were incompetent when I attended speedway and haven't improved. Their grammatically incorrect statement shows the completely amateur disorganised shower that are allegedly controlling the sport. "The SCB Referee at the Kent fixture had been informed that Mr Foord was unavailable for this fixture and having consulted the SCB had at that time had correctly allowed a facility, however on further investigation this should not have been authorised and the score of the guest for Cooper Rushen will be deleted from the meeting result." So referee consulted the SCB and they had allowed the facility. (they repeated HAD twice for avoidance of doubt !) "on further investigation" they changed their mind ! you cannot do that !!! amateur hour !!! the score of the guest for Cooper Rushen ???? what ???? I thought Cooper Rushen was THE guest rider ?? -
Belle Vue -V- Ipswich POSF leg 1
old bob at herne bay replied to PhilTheAce's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
and as per my prediction a small home win 48-42. Never thought Ippo would manage another draw with Belle Vue at full strength, but they are far too reliant on their top three to thrash any solid team like Ippo. Jason Doyle showed he is a wily experienced rider and lowered whizz kid Brad Kruz colours twice this evening. -

Well they could actually win at the Foxhole ---- it might be a very wet track -- anything can and has happened in speedway 🙂 🙂 -

Sounds like the extra admission has killed the crowd - extra for a P.off semi final ??? Bet the riders arent on extra money. Sheer greed. -

Small home win for Belle Vue tonight 48-42 . Cannot see Brad Kruz or Danny Bewdley risking too much with an " SGP" coming up. Weather wil upset the second leg - as always in the p.offs.
