Indeed what is the point ? Pretentiously named the "National Speedway Stadium" it is in fact owned by the local council, and has to be rented like most other speedway venues in use in the UK. With admission charges amongst the highest in the UK , strongly suspect the rent isn't affordable for a meeting running in early winter with 2 "away" teams taking part.

If these Aussies have pre booked airline tickets on a non flexible fare basis they stand to lose their money if they have to rebook. .... notwithstanding the additional costs of tickets nearer Xmas and their availilability. Think I read from Leicester trackman that all the surplus water in the drainage sump has to be bowsered off by tractor driving over the lentgh of one of the straights on the track - which must make the track like a ploughed field. Lets ee how Buster gets on at KL . Many yeras ago I was always impressed with KL drainage system , but hey that was when the boys rode 2 valve bikes and used trials style tyres which could be ridden in the wet. Last chance saloon to run this meeting must be by the end of this week. ??

Just the tip of the iceberg Auntie Doris ….2023 sees Edinburgh and Peterborough on their last season at their current locations. Beggars belief that even with so few sides operating they still cannot complete the seasons fixtures before winter. The Jubilee cup now postponed to 2023 …..between sides who will scarcely be recognisable from the line ups in 2022.

Agree that more forceful control of fixtures needs to be imposed on clubs to ensure we are not trying to race in early winter. Forfeiting matches with 1 point per club for cancelled meetings after a cut off date. Banning testimonial meetings until after cut off dates as these should be “filler fixtures “ . Running meetings every week throughout the summer with no breaks for non speedway excuses ( local football matches , etc ) Leicester speedway clearly need to undertake and invest in some improvement works to their track drainage system before next season. Having to drive water bowsers along the already sodden track to empty the drainage sump seems a recipe for disaster.

Fromafar yes agree with you 100%. Problem is getting anyone in "promoter land" to even acknowledge that there is a problem. Once has a conversation with a " promoter" who IMO was foolishly taking his club up to he 1st Division. " it's my club, my money and I'll run it how I want to " was his reply. Well his money run out, the foray into Division 1 was a disaster from which the club never recovered. I tar them all with the same brush with VERY FEW exceptions.

Lots of track prep. experts now joining in on the forum :-) Lets not divert from the knub of the problem..... that the clubs' management cannot collectively agree amongst themselves to get these "finals" completed before the last day of the season in early winter. The fact that this applies to all 3 divisions shares the blame across the entire UK speedway promoters scene. They are all a little bit useless.
-
Fromafar - powers that be = the collective promoters at all tracks. They have no interest whatsoever in solving the problem. They are unwilling and in my opinion incapable of taking part in joined up thinking.......... AS LONG AS the supporters keep on turning up in sufficient numbers to fill their piggy banks for the p.offs and to a lesser extent the KO CUP final meetings.
-
Doubt it - certainly not got any better since I retired from attending meetings 3 years ago. Hottest and driest summer since 1066 and still the same old problem trying to run meetings in early winter on c****y wet tracks in c**p weather for the spectators. Never any urgency to complete the fixtures in summer - every club trots out lame excuses. No one is interested in solving the problem as the mushrooms* that are speedway supporters will turn up regardless to fill the piggy bank of the “promoters” * fed on s**t and kept in the dark.

Speedway only allowed at Owlerton on a Thursday ??? Really need to have an alternate race night available for clubs that race on Thursdays especially if you are bottom of the priority list to run home matches on clashing Thursdays. -
Sounds like King falling off on his own track and poor machine prep by S Worrall and B Cook cost Pirates a bigger winning margin. I think you will find Howarth has a Doctors note for Saturday. he uses the same Doctor as Robert Lambert. Most of the Hunters' fans are saying the weather forecast for Saturday is poor so looks like a possible facility to race in November will be needed. Any Australians got their flights booked to go back home in early November I wonder ?

King's Lynn v Belle Vue (SGBPB)
old bob at herne bay replied to Mimmo's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
In my opinion “Mike BV” posts a stupid post about PAYING DOUBLE to watch a select Belle Vue side beset by illnesses injuries ( hahaha) Think my reply was a measured response to such nonsense. Its not me who wants the sport to die….. I am just ONE disillusioned ex speedway fan. Think you need to direct your comments to the group of promoters. -

It’s mugs like you that keep the joke sport going . -
I like this .. a lot….. Poole past masters of exploring the boundaries of the regulations, now faced with a Leicester side looking to book a “track expert” in as a gust to replace the out of form Howarth. lmao. Expect Ford Ford and Middleditch ( sound like a bunch of dodgy solicitors) to be plotting out how to prevent this happening … looks like the postponement due to a “poor weather forecast” isn’t an option. Are the stadium security staff available or are they going to a football match ?
