Agree With you Joseq7. It is totally wrong. Could be simply fixed by taking the aggregate scores after the same number of heats in the return leg.? In cricket in a rain affected match each side is allotted the same number of overs to get the runs

From bend three makes a good point. After the demise of the last incarnation of the Wimbledon Dons I was friendly with a handful of ex Dons supporters who regularly travelled to EB on a Saturday evening.

I will be called the usual “miserable old git” etc etc but it does beg the question how any of the now dormant clubs eg Rye House, Lakeside, Coventry , Sittingbourne, Newcastle ( tempted to include Swindon as their fence must be past it’s sell by date) can ever hope to be resurrected faced with such large start up costs…..that’s before they have even got on paying spectator in their stadiums. You might think that there must be someone somewhere with a collection of old air fences, starting gates, and other paraphernalia which could aid new start up clubs ? Can you imagine going to Dragons Den as a prospective speedway club business start up ?? lol.

Some have picked up on the Landlords reluctance to allow NDL speedway at Arlington. Looking at the headline start up costs listed by MD - other than lower rider sign on fees, don’t see there is much difference ? MD posted”Air Fence (£30000) Tractor, Shale, Possible track equipment (including new starting gate), Rider sign on fees, Upfront money for medical cover insurances. “ The successful NDL team at Arlington run by Dugard consortium, ran on the previously owned track hardware. Starting from scratch is a different challenge

Guess this will be another announcement along the lines of Pboro unable to guarantee to the League that they can defo finish season season 2023 ….. so will not be able to declare they are running .

All sounds very predictable. Who would invest circa £100k into a sport which is in clear decline in the UK. As well as losing their main sponsors - they have by now surely lost a good number of regular supporters. Attendances were never great at Arlington in recent years - and speedway there never seemed to be viable on anything but a Saturday evening. Sad - yet another defunct track to be added to those I have visited :-(

Wonder what the total number of speedway fans in the Uk is nowadays .? Assuming only a minority support more than on track, it might be 15,000? Amazes me the support for the SGP …. Guess most are travelling fans from overseas?

even after today's postponement, I assume Poole can still insist on holding the 2nd leg ?

Once again the Speedway Control Bureau (SCB) have created a PR disaster for British Speedway. Secrecy over such serious matters is not acceptable. What sort of role models are they creating when findings of riders "taking banned substances" are not made public. The decisions on punishments seem entirely arbitrary...... surely bans should be stipulated for a number of fixtures rather than some timeframe over the close season? I cannot help but recall an English International rider who was banned for a season for merely riding around a lap the wrong way. Seems drug offences in Speedway are viewed much more lightly.

The BSPA have got the wrong compound Anlas tyre. These are not the ones used in FIM SGP events.

Promoters only paying riders for 10 races - spectators paying for 15 races. MUGGED off again.

Seems like the sport has entered a new era…. Exploding tyres (P boro), setting light to the tracks (Glasgow) added the the reasons I stopped going endless delays and teams of gusts and r/r , my only surprise is that there are people still paying £20 each plus travel to watch the smouldering embers of a once great sport. Nothing I read would tempt me back to watch.

Ah yes - I see Oxford have replaced Kent in the "championship" taken half their team with 'em too ! Last meeting I attended was back last season was at Sittingbourne think Eastbourne were the visitors. Seemed a good time to pack up speedway. Don't think the " end is nigh" iain b , sure it will linger on for a good few seasons. We haven't even got down to one league yet. Lots of clubs are "maybe's" for 2023 which seem to occur every season ....just commenting on the here and now.

Not been on here for many months - lost all interest to be honest, but thought I would take a quick look to see what clubs were still in business. See Newcastle have gone, Armadale going next year, and Kent clinging on at Iwade training track. Nothing seen about Eastbourne , Rye House , Swindon or Coventry. Assume dead and buried. Seems Poole are still wining everything and aside from a few odd "pairs" meetings the "premiership" lurches along with a few teams and everyone riding as double uppers in all the leagues. Maybe I will come back in a few years time to see what is happening .....

The situation may solve itself, as if Laguta and Sayfitdonov are currently in Russia they will have extreme difficulty travelling anywhere else at the moment (Belarus excepted).

I cannot see a plaice for Bewley - Lemon needs to get his skate s on, otherwise he will find himself between a rock and a hard plaice and Belle Vue will be battered at home and away.

I think you will find that the infamous Pirates didn't take kindly to moving off their traditional Wednesday race night, which is I guess almost engrained into every Poole residents calendar. They will be happy with any night as long as it is a Wednesday. Too many clubs on a Friday ............ who says ? We have Edinburgh and Glasgow running on Fridays ( a most bizarre situation ) Do Poland seem to have too many clubs on a Sunday ? Do Denmark too many clubs on Wednesday ? Do Sweden .... etc etc. Time the blinkered promoters allowed tracks to run on nights where they can make most money , not for the convenience of other Friday night tracks. Promoting British Speedway is not the description I would use for Rob Godfrey ( unless it's promoting his own club)
