Shame on Sheffield

Speedway only allowed at Owlerton on a Thursday ??? Really need to have an alternate race night available for clubs that race on Thursdays especially if you are bottom of the priority list to run home matches on clashing Thursdays. -
Sounds like King falling off on his own track and poor machine prep by S Worrall and B Cook cost Pirates a bigger winning margin. I think you will find Howarth has a Doctors note for Saturday. he uses the same Doctor as Robert Lambert. Most of the Hunters' fans are saying the weather forecast for Saturday is poor so looks like a possible facility to race in November will be needed. Any Australians got their flights booked to go back home in early November I wonder ?

King's Lynn v Belle Vue (SGBPB)

In my opinion “Mike BV” posts a stupid post about PAYING DOUBLE to watch a select Belle Vue side beset by illnesses injuries ( hahaha) Think my reply was a measured response to such nonsense. Its not me who wants the sport to die….. I am just ONE disillusioned ex speedway fan. Think you need to direct your comments to the group of promoters. -

It’s mugs like you that keep the joke sport going . -
I like this .. a lot….. Poole past masters of exploring the boundaries of the regulations, now faced with a Leicester side looking to book a “track expert” in as a gust to replace the out of form Howarth. lmao. Expect Ford Ford and Middleditch ( sound like a bunch of dodgy solicitors) to be plotting out how to prevent this happening … looks like the postponement due to a “poor weather forecast” isn’t an option. Are the stadium security staff available or are they going to a football match ?

Fans treated with contempt yet again with Belle Vue deciding to field a sub standard side. Any reason given for Lamberts(R) non appearance. Not that fans will be told the truth. Sadly people will still turn up and pay to watch any old rubbish whoever can be bothered to turn up and ride. Last we will see of R Lambert in UK speedway. -
Jubilee championship league

Once again speedway clubs fail to complete fixtures in a timely manner. These knockout competitions should be run to strict time limits throughout the season, clubs who fail to meet the dates should be immediately forfeit their match and the opposing team take the win. Glasgow in particular seem to be the most difficult of clubs to agree dates. -
Think there are some good points being made re “post covid war” behaviour. Many older fans got used to being at home locked down and found different technology to fill their time… everything online from shopping to watching sports . Not sure that these fans will be back to stand around in the cold for 2 hours watching live speedway ……lots of sports will suffer the same problems.

Is this just a joke thread to waste bandwidth ? The reasons for Old Ford relegating his club haven’t changed ….. so he isn't likely to promote his club .. unless young Ford wants all the Supporters to change their weekly habits?

Orion - gardening at the starts is now out of control. From NDL juniors to SGP sooperstars they get off their bikes digging ruts , then filling them in, then completely missing the start. Complete waste of time. 2 completely one sided p off semi finals - the last one at Sheffield typified the modern style gate and go speedway on big tracks. Racing at Belle Vue Hyde Road was good …. The new incarnation sees the action over by lap one and the 4 riders getting further and further apart. They might go faster than they used to … but entertainment is poor. Too many delays, time wasting and not a lot of action.

From my limited viewing of speedway in the past few weeks - nothing I have seen will tempt me back to trackside to watch riders endlessly gardening at every start ….lack of any “racing” just very fast “riding”. One sided meeting pa with the result never in doubt despite the constant “bigging it up” by the TV commentators. FTG features in all but a few heats. Not for me anymore.

Swindon Robins 2020

Moderator - this thread needs moving please to clear space for those clubs actually racing (or planning to race in the Premiership) -

Lions to the slaughter then in 2023. With so many riders doubling up , will be interesting to see who owns who and whether other Prem clubs will be left short handed with Leicester moving aside to the Premiership. As for race nights - Leicester as well running on the Thursday reserve rain off date for Poland should ensure a good number of R/R being needed throughout the season. Will they extend the season the end of November in 2023 ? -
Come on folks stop banging on about all these spurious reasons for Swindon speedway closing. Would you rather sell your land to a housing developer for millions of pounds or invest money building a speedway stadium which even when the team won the league made a loss ? If the GI gang and their many hangers on ( I include Messrs. Russell and Rossiter) are guilty of anything it is perpetuating the myth that once the stadium was slated for housing development on that site that speedway racing would ever take place again.
