A bit like speedway!

Well, if 'Mr Irving' has good reason to go garrity, he should have explained himself. Maybe then, we could have offered him sympathy.

My comment was made a few weeks ago now and things have moved on since. Have my views changed? I will say that I am FULLY adhering to the current rules. However, my original comment centred around a speedway riders concern about how he was going to earn money, as I recall. I am still concerned about that for the self employed (which I am), for those who live hand to mouth, for those that don't 'fit' with the furlough scheme. For those who are company directors who pay themselves small salaries, which will mean they will be ineligible for anything. Bearing in mind the current speedway demographic, is mainly those who are retired with a fixed income, it's possible the 'how can I put food on the table' doesn't impact on them. And maybe, it is those people on this forum who are criticising (some in a childish fashion), peoples views and opinions, that don't agree with theirs.

I refer you to the reply I gave Steve Irving (Is that really his name?).

Very brave of you Keyboard Warrior! People are allowed to have an opinion! Get a grip!

They may have signed rent contracts, which have to be honoured?

How about Dingle Brown?

Great WW2 aircraft, the Dakota or 'Dak' as it was known. Great transport aircraft and many still flying. The Lincoln Heritage Museum has a pristine example!

Yorkie bars?

I wonder when the first policeman to say 'where are your papers?' will be.

At least you may remain sane at the end of the day and will receive a wage rather than a handout (if you're lucky). Just keep washing those hands and keep colleagues 2 metres from your person!
-
Could be! We may never know! Let's all hope for happy days ahead.

I didn't think he rode speedway, well not to my knowledge. His sister was the girlfriend of Sam Norris's dad (Chris) many years ago.

It could be the same Dave Holman. I think he lived in the Dunmow area, in Essex. Dave would be about mid to late 50s now.
-
I remember a good grasser, Dave Holman, who started grass tracking later in life and did quite well. He put it down to riding big road bikes, before grass tracking!

Aww! Bless you! Thank you BB! I was hooked on the castor oil! Lovely!

Sorry, have tried to upload a photo, but have been told it exceeds the limit, not sure why. My bike ( and my riding) was not exceptional, but I enjoyed myself! I started with a Weslake, which developed a weird problem, then switched to a new Jawa engine, Jawa 2 speed gearbox and a Godden frame, was having fun, then lost my job, (sounds familiar), not ridden since!
-
My last bike was a Jawa 997 Godden grass track bike. Which I still have. Take me back there Scotty!

To jump in as 'referee' I don't think this is the time to be taking 'lumps' out of each other. We are all feeling frustrated, jumpy and frightened. If the politicians can be restraint, then I think members of the BSF can also. Rather than us descending into the usual 'my opinion is better than yours', as happens on BSF, is not helpful. Can't we all be allowed to have an opinion, without being insulting? I only called Tsunami a sad man, because he said my comments were garbage and therefore, I rose to his slating. I shouldn't have done. Can we please move forward and share opinions, challenge opinions yes, but in a civil and constructive way.

The thing that worries me about lockdowns, is you may just be deferring the contagion and in fact, you maybe elongating the contagion. The government seem to be saying and the experts, the lockdown is important to protect the NHS, which I understand, but lockdowns over a long period, can't be sustainable. I sincerely hope the strategy is the right strategy.

I got lucky yesterday! Aldi had plenty, but I hadn't seen them for over a week! I only bought the one pack.

There's not a cure for flu if you get it. There is a vaccine for a number of flu's, but not all flu's. A doctor would just say keep taking paracetamol and ibuprofen. You can take the 2 together, so a nurse tells me.

I agree. 1918 was a different scenario. Britain just out of a world war and people had poor diets, many under nourished, food in short supply, some living in squalid surroundings, no NHS, people out of work, lack of money, no benefit system, overcrowding in many cities.

Following on from Arch Stanton's post, there is an interesting article on BBC news online, where it is being suggested the modelling process, which the experts use, is possibly flawed. The suggestion, is the experts are not allowing for overlap in their models. In other words, they are not sure how many people would have died with or without the virus. Or in other words, whether CV adds to the death rate. Please don't shoot me down in flames, I'm only saying what I saw on the BBC website. The article also worries about the social and economic damage and suggests that could cost lives too. I do feel the government are 'firefighting' without properly considering the unintended consequences.

The usual BSF mantra 'you are not allowed to have another opinion'.
