  1. Well done Glyn, looks a good team to me. I think both Roynon and Bjerre have the potential to be fighting it out with Nieminen as Lions No1. Along with Doolan it looks a great top 4. Graversen and Nielsen should be solid at 5 and 6. The one question mark i'd have is Lewis at No7 but with under 4 points to play with he's probably worth a second chance and hopefully he'll turn the obvious efforts of last year into a few more points this one.
  2. I think you're right Crump99. However, regarding the facts, the only other option i can come up with, given that Horton hinted at and Drury came right out with it, is that Frost agreed to be scapegoat for the decision on behalf of the other clubs. Either way, Surely the penance for a back down of such magnitute over a period of just 2 years is surely the grief he might get from the likes of Lions fans such as myself on forums such as this.
  3. I'm hoping they'll be announcing the 2013 Premier league championship winning team.
  4. The very sad part of this is that Frost spent the whole of the winter a couple of years ago chest out making threats to the league because the weak clubs were stifling the clubs that had vision and ambition (bees and panthers) and here we are 2 years later finding out the club that is stifling the ambitious the most appears to actually be Peterborough themselves. All mouth but no trousers springs to mind.
  5. That's probably the team i'd go with. Getting Doolan down from Sheffield is probably cheaper than getting Karlsson over from Sweden to be honest! My take on Doolan and Karlsson and my reasoning is as follows - I think id have Doolan over Karlsson either way. I think a confident Doolan is a much better rider than a confident Karlsson. Even without the confidence I think Doolan problems last year were just at the first corner whereas Magnus's confidence problems seem to be lasting the whole lap if you know what i mean. He was struggling with the bike full stop. Which is not to say i don't think a confident Magnus would do a job. I felt a bit sorry for Doolan around BP in the meeting last year as he lstill ooked pretty classy out of bend 2 onwards. He just didn't seem to want to mix it into the first corner. Remember that BP meeting was Doolan's lowest ebb and pretty much his last meeting for Ipswich if memory serves. I'm sure he had picked his confidence up and was scoring well again for Redcar by the seasons end. Mick.
  6. Hurricanes, i think you'll find Jenga is just try to wind people up as usual... on this occasion probably 'cause he's a but miffed that Adam Roynon is going to end up at Leicester instead of Workington
  7. With no Fisher how about 1.Nieminen 2.Bjerre/ Masters 3.Doolan/ Karlsson 4.Roynon 5.Graversen 6.Nielsen 7.Blackbird/ Kerr
  8. Whilst i'm not saying Cook would sign for us sometimes it helps to act deluded and you never know who might be signable! I'm sure Workington fans probably say the same about Roynon but until the likes of Cook and Roynon have been signed you can never say never and Lions12 team might end up nearer to reality than we all think..
  9. Not sure about Masters. He's never quite looked the hype when i've seen him which is not to say he isn't capable. If there issues are the same re: under 21's then i'd also have Bjerre over Masters. Makinen's season went a bit like Bondarenko's the season before. Every now and again he looked like he could do something only to be let down next time. Fragile machinery and fragile confidence apearing to be the issues with both. Makinen was the one who benefitted the most from no-one being able to overtake at BP! Wouldn't complain if the other 5 were in though!.
  10. I liked Thorsell as well. He looked great around BP, i'd have him in a shot on a 5.. Talking of 5 pointers, what's happened to Burmeister. I'm sure he nearly signed for us last year until problems resurfaced. Maybe he'd be a worth taking a chance on if those problemshave been sorted out. Mick.
  11. I had heard a rumour that it was a PL wide £55 a point top limit with big points deduction for any team breaking it. However, as confident as i am that it's correct no one has backed me up yet so only going on 1 source so far! Mick. good calls, don't partuicularly disagree with any of what you say and wouldn't be disappointed with those permutations. However, what If we actually ended up with a team that is pretty much last seasons team with Doolan in place of Bjerre.
  12. If i was a speedway rider I'd probably do the same as well but i'm not Fisher and i'm not sure he would/will if he's got an EL team. I think even if Nieminen comes back, without Fisher and Bjerre we could be found out as i can't see where the back up is coming from elsewhere. Mick.
  13. Nightshift, what would your team be. I've not seen many guesses so far. I would personally be very disappointed with the same team. If we get the track right and it actually provides entertainment and riders can actually pass then i see us getting some stuffings if we keep generally the same team. My team would have been. 1.Fisher 2.Nieminen 3.Doolan 4.Poole 5.Graversen 6.Simon Nielsen 7.Blackbird Can't see that happening now though if the wage cap is there as Fisher is obviously expensive (he nearly ended up missing out last year over his demands and i can't see him changing and rumour has it he's signed up for EL) and i would guess Nieminen probably is too. Bjerre wont be back as he's in the under 21s and i'm told will miss 9 or so meetings so what's left. It's a bit worrying where our top end is coming from if Bjerre, Nieminen and Fisher are all out of the equation. What do you think? Mick.
  14. true, but it will be interesting to see whether the big rush of EL riders wanting to double up materialises as predicted. I'm thinking the EL standard riders such as the Steads, Bridgers, Klindts etc as well as the Barkers, Cooks, Doyles, Nieminens who do already.
  15. £55. If it is true is will interesting to see how many 'club' sponsors who you will find also suddenly sponsoring the clubs top riders at certain clubs..
  16. I was told by a usually reliable 'sauce' that wage cap with big points deductions for teams that break the cap. And there is no way most of the top riders in the pl are on the rate I was quoted. Nicki glanz was withholding his services last year because he wasnt getting the point money he had agreed and that was more than the cap. I accept that glanz is a slightly extreme example but does make the point.
  17. So if the the rumoured strict wage cap on Pl riders happens will any team get within 5 points of the limit. I've been reliably informed there is a cap that is set at £10 a point less than i was reliably informed Robin Apregen was asking for to ride PL last year. Will any riders be double upping because i couldn't imagine anyone of that standard of Barker, Cook etc going anywhere near a PL team.
  18. Pl it is then. 6 random foreigners and 1 englishmen - Fisher, Nieminen, Doolan, Poole, Graversen, Nielsen, Blackbird ???
  19. go to say this robert72, this post made me chuckle! If all the posts you've posted this year have been a lead in to this punchline then i have to say we all need to accept the fact that you are genius, looking forward to next years already
  20. thankfully it's not just me who knows nothing then!
  21. Not being a genuis but am i missing something here. The practice on the 9th Dec is still on isn't it? the practice session that was scheduled for this saturday has been cancelled as it fell between the two enduro meetings..
  22. Glyn mentions he is running the practice on the 9th Dec so hopefully he is still around to change the track if he's still running that.. or have you heard something Gemini.
  23. As far as i was aware the Enduro meetings were booked months ago and i'm sure i've read that track changes weren't going to be made until after these bookings. If you haven't seen the Enduro track first hand then worth going to www.enduroland.co.uk to have a look at it (click on the facebook site). It might then become more apparent why it's being left in place for the next meeting in 3 weeks time. Guessing that DH and Glyn didn't realise the extent of the obstacles before they were put down and i'd say It would be madness to take it all down for a speedway practice. I went down to watch and have to say it didn't do much for me. A bit like watching Kickstart with Motocross bikes. Whilst freezing. video here
  24. I would also be very surprised if it did happen, but there you go. We've got 4 months to talk about Leicester Lions PL in 2013. This week may be the last chance we can talk about being an Elite league team for a year
