  1. Sundays meetings were 6pm last year if i remember rightly.
  2. I'm guessing no-one went. or did they? so what did go on at the clubhouse? To be fair, It's probably so quiet on here because everyone has given up trying to work out what all the cryptic nonsense above is going on about! Mick.
  3. surely, with the best will in the world, even at its worst it's still better than some of the nonsense on your facebook site though! I heard on Sunday that Lasse and Simon were going to up to the track to practise yesterday. This had me thinking, is Adam Roynon back on a bike yet? anyone know how he's getting on.
  4. Not followed the Chris Harris part of the thread as i was trying not to post too much. I remember most riders hating Long Eaton when it was at its most entertaining to see. Dave Jessup, Dave Morton and quite a few others just used to freewheel around it so not sure what the point is that is being made. Is it that riders have too much say on track conditions these days? If so, i'm in.
  5. Depends what they have to offer. A years supply of free prawn cocktail crisps or a new conference suite. I wouldn't want to prejudge but as a tie up with a 'premier league' speedway team my betting would err towards the former. And at that, when building a stadium, having an uber fan with access to cheap building materials and cheap transport would look the better option than keeping the snack bar well stocked (even if nobody has heard of him).
  6. Just been upto the stadium and notice it's now the Jordan roadsurfacing Stadium. Not to be confused with the Leicester 'Harry Jordan' Lions. Plenty of work going on inside and outside the stadium so looks like they may finally have the right people helping them to get something done. not mentioning the track. Mick.
  7. Blooming eck.. you've got me worried now. Many moons ago in the 90's we had a car park tarmaced and the firm that did it took a vehicle off us in exchange for the work. The vehicle then drove around with a mini paver hanging off the back off it for many years and it was in the livery of Harry Jordan. You now have me worried me we gave it went to the wrong person. Or else you have me even more worried that my memories failing. As always, I'm taking as read that you know best though.
  8. can't disagree with your last point and my chin is big enough to take it. I was going to try and be a bit quieter but due to the cryptic nature of the bit above it you've made me post again. What does this mean? The real topic of discussion should be Dave Darcy becoming a promoter? And if he clears off then most issues we talk about would disappear? I'm intrigued as a few of my employees found it hilarious that he had been put in charge of anything. I'm very far from being convinced about it.
  9. Cheers TMW, i guess you mean me as i'm far too interested in my speedway, i've got far too much time on my hands and post far too much.. so recently i've been discussing 1.the track changes and whether Leicester appearing to bypass any expert input will have a detrimental effect on how succesful the changes are 2.the new promoter and whether he is the reason that expert input was deemed unneccessary 3.and whether the current state of the complex and problems in resolving it is in part due to what i think is an extraordinary revelation that the development appears to have been granted by the council on a basis of a series of 'good faith' agreements between the council and the businesses originally earmarked to use it. and that makes me part of the laughing stock of the sport does it, cheers... you made me feel suitable belittled. so when is your book out? Mick.
  10. Jordan's are a local haulage firm running asphalt laying gangs unless i'm much mistaken, i often am. They did a fine job of our car park a few years back. These, along with the new promoter also being a aggregate haulier with a couple of lorries and access to cheap aggregate is, imo, probably more useful to ongoing needs of beaumont park than a sponsorship tie up with someone like Walker Crisps.
  11. Not sure how me saying the problem the council now has is that they didn't put the proper safeguards in to begin with is making the story fit the ending but there you go. If the council dealt with a project of this size with an element of 'good faith' then that's the part that needed your laughing icon. Like you say, I guess we will just have to beg to differ and move on. to edit: I have to say you have thrown me a bit so i have re read my posts. If this comment is in reference to my response to Barrow Boy then the point i was making and agreeing with was that Hemsley gave me the impression he was now in charge of developing the whole site which is something that he previously wasn't. That's what i agreeing with. I clearly have no idea in whose hands the resposibility of the rest of the site was with.
  12. Much i said to you, or was it speedibee, it's hard to tell you are so alike. I never really disagreed with either your or LD's version of what went and has gone on. I just don't particularly agree with the fact that the version of events as told by you always has a saint being sinned against. My issue is how saintly the angels. see above
  13. I haven't made a sweeping assumption that the problem is all down to council incompetence. My sweeping assumption was that it was caused by the council dealing with the issue in good faith. Much as i'd be a fool (and have been in the past) to deal with anything the council were offering on a basis of good faith so would they be to deal with anyone in such a manner. Particularly such a large project as this. Personally I would contend it does show gross incompetence that they didn't safeguard these proposals.
  14. my guess is you're probably both right. IMO, the apex wanted to come in 2m the end of the straights by 5 metres and chopping across. but much like the people who actually did the alterations, i'm no expert. Mick.
  15. whilst i agree that you're probably right it is still the lack of investment from the targetted parties (velodrome, football & golf) who obviously were part of the plan even though they hadn't signed up to anything that, to me, would appear to be the underlying problem here. Rather than the council being hoodwinked or anything else it is more likely that, as usual, incompetence within the council to properly safeguard what was supposed to happen before approval has been shown up by potential investers being able to pull out without any consequences and leaving everyone in the mess that they currently are in. My problem is that i don't see how, with the best will in the world, you can blame BSC ltd for council incompetence. Unless it's as a stick to beat someone you don't like with, of course
  16. I would guess it's a bit of all of those (well bar the advert!) In Leicester's case, going by the latest addition, it would also appear to be the case that being totally blind to the basic mechanics of track design and an almost pathological desire to ignore any experts in the field doesn't go amiss either! That was my understanding as well. Last time i spoke to David Hemsley, a couple of weeks ago, he gave me the impression that he had taken on sorting the whole site, which indicates that he wasn't previously required to do that.
  17. Definately nothing wrong with lorry drivers! The most honest of all honest trades! I have no idea how much input he had in the changes. I'm just looking at the evidence available, putting 2 and 2 together and making my usual 5. Equally, I have no idea what say Glyn has on changes anymore as he has stated he is not discussing it. but he wasn't in the country when they were started and they look nothing like what was muted so by power of deduction my guess is he hasn't. Maybe he was there for the 3/4 bend alterations but is out of shot? that's was my question about the photo's, does anybody know?
  18. No, hence my question about what he is going to do to promote the club. He's a lorry driver. I think he had a big input into why the recent track changes were made in the way they were and when they were. I will definately be first in the queue to thank him and admit how wrong i was when these changes prove to have done the trick with regards to entertainment. Hope all the rest of you doubters will join me in the queue . weirdly enough, i was only on Facebook this morning looking at the photo's of the track changes and thinking to myself how shy the experts, track curators etc were when they they were being taken. On every one they appear to be just out of shot. Can anyone remind who they were again?
  19. absolutely agree nightshift, fingers and everything else crossed, i really wish these changes do the trick. I guess the point is if the alterations were made that were originally muted then if they didn't work then i'd still give it a second chance as they clearly show they were making the effort (although i think we've already passed that already on chances, 3rd or 4th chance maybe) . Whereas if the actual changes that have been done don't work then i think it may be the end of my interest because it looks like someone fiddling around the edges for cheapness sakes. That's the gamble they are taking and i can't believe i'll be alone as a fan in thinking that way.
  20. I don't recall any of those riders doing anything like that. I must have been looking the other way when it happened. They might have squeezed their way past a reserve or two going too slow into bend 3 or 4 but i can't recall anything else. In two seasons I actually recall one overtake by 'winding it on' and overtaking on the 1/2 bend. that's it, end of. I'm going to spend the rest of the day trying think who that was now
  21. You are missing my point though. I know the riders weren't using the new bit of track but in my opinion, from what i saw, when they are using it they will entering the corner on the same angle of attack as they always have done, they'll just be a foot or two further across. Irrespective of the track being a foot or two wider the riders following will either have to scrub their speed and follow the leader as they always have done in the hope the guy in front makes a mistake or else attempt beat the law of physics and try and go full speed around the outside of said rider on a line up until now just doesn't physically exist, but more to the point doesn't physically exist by quite a long way. The difference between Leicester, Lakeside and Plymouth is that when you enter the corner at lakeside and Plymouth you are not scrubbing of so much speed because you are not go that fast in the first place. The rider following at leicester has scrubbed off so much speed in comparison to how fast he is going that it's impossible to then get enough speed up to do what you want.. i.e overtake someone. Mick.
