  1. THERE is no evidence that a Polish company - presumably you mean One Sport - will take over anything. Receipts from ticket sales at Prague, Warsaw, Wroclaw and Torun go to the organisers not BSI. Same with Togliatti. Cardiff tickets are no longer on sale.
  2. YOU can switch but the only process that works is ... you take out a digital sub and then call Dave on 020-83351113 to cancel your print one. He will arrange a refund.
  3. BUT when you buy milk from Asda they receive the money... Torun not BSI receive the proceeds from sale of tickets.
  4. HE was announcer at Wimbledon for many years and also had the microphone at a number of Wembley World Finals.
  5. BSI have done nothing of the sport. How could they? My guess would be no SGPs before August ... but it is no more than a guess.
  6. CALL 020-83351113 tomorrow morning. They will start a sub and send you this week's copy
  7. WISH there was something that we could do about that, but .... However, we are endeavouring to make each issue as non-date sensitive as possible so that it is worth reading whenever it arrives.
  8. I DON'T know, nobody knows what is going to happen going forward. But people are planning for a schedule based on the hope that later in the year sporting events will take place. Optimistic maybe but right now I'd rather be that than a pessimist.
  9. TO my mind a late year SGP at the Principality is feasible for all sorts of reasons. No problems for spectators, seated under a roof, insulated against the elements.
  10. VERY proud of the tribute to Eric in this week's SS ... a fitting legacy to the levels of journalism he inspired
  11. OF course rugby comes first but the track goes in in a Monday and on the following Sunday morning there is not a trace of it left
  12. NO doubt there are also provisional plans to stage the British SGP at the Principality later in the year let alone season.
  13. WITH respect cannot imagine spending most of the day virtually outside the NSS apart from the fact that no matter what it will never hold 40,000. The whole Cardiff package, in my humble opinion, is unbeatable. Yes, the track could possibly be better but in my view the pros significantly outweigh the cons.
  14. THE bottom line is that none of us know but, personally, I prefer to remain optimistic.
  15. OBVIOUSLY that is true but none of us know whether that will apply in May, June, July or even August.
  16. NOTHING definite with any of the SGP rounds. It is such a fluid situation. None of us know the end game. What I do know is that BSI, the FIM and the various organisers are in contact daily but provisional schedules are constantly being revised. Cannot compare Cardiff with The Open. Outside events like that, especially at a venue with limited access like Royal St George, require grandstands, hospitality, etc, etc to be built. The British SGP is only needs the track to be laid which doesn't usually start until the preceding Monday. Silverstone say it takes 12 weeks to prepare for a F1 GP. No doubt BSI and the FIM are still clinging to July 18th but the Principality has a roof and staging it there late (very late maybe) in the year must come into the equation surely?
  17. TAKE it you are not a fan.... unlike the 40,000 that turn up
  18. MINE arrived today. Postal service very erratic but copies still leaving printers in the early hours of Wednesday. Dave is back in the office for a short period on Monday morning.
  19. All at Speedway Star are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Eric Linden, our founder and first-ever editor in 1952. Quite simply, without Eric, there would be no Speedway Star. Our thoughts are with his family and we will have a full tribute to Eric in next week's issue
  20. BSI certainly don't have their heads in the sand and nor are they living in cloud cuckoo land.. They and the FIM are communicating daily to try and salvage and maintain some sort of schedule while effectively working in the dark, not knowing when sporting events such as theirs will be allowed to take place. All sorts of provisional dates and venues are being considered.
