  1. Can only repeat that in Poland these clubs are representatives of their towns, as with soccer in the UK, and draw crowds akin to the Championship in England. That has never been the case here... sadly. The rivalry is between two Polish towns rather than just two speedway clubs.
  2. IT is a fluid situation... think Somerset make it six now.
  3. WHAT makes you think it is only four clubs? Or that they want to run teams full of superstars. You are right that they won't get a crowd of 4,000 but these days anything around the 1800/2000 mark is considered good. Why would Somerset want to lose Doyle, Kings'Lynn either or both of Lambert and Iversen, Belle Vue release Cook or Fricke? Why wouldn't Wolverhampton want to try and get either Lindgren or Woffinden back. Poole might fancy a rejuvenated Holder. Just questions, not solutions ...
  4. NO one is more frustrated with the state of British speedway than me but, frankly, the cards currently held by the BSPA are not great. Tracks like Poole, King's Lynn, Wolves, Somerset want to at the very least maintain their team strengths ... not dumb down to the level of some CL teams who understandably cannot afford to go in the opposite direction. That doesn't mean that British promoters cannot address many of the problems afflicting the sport here but sadly there isn't a one-fit solution.
  5. YES there will be a NL. The debate has been about whether the PL and CL would amalgamate but it would appear not. From what I hear (although there is no real agreement as yet) there is a belief (fear) that a league in which the likes of Berwick, Redcar, and Scunthorpe (no disrespect) for example are expected to compete against the likes of King's Lynn and Poole simply isn't either practical or viable. As far as the current PL tracks are concerned, the hope is that Glasgow will move up, possibly replacing Leicester who seem to prefer the CL. But, as said, everything is still in the air right now with the AGM not schedled until November.
  6. RACING has been much improved in recent years. But it is the whole package that appeals so much.
  7. NOT sure they have seven! Was suggested that only five have committed ... Belle Vue, Kings Lynn, Poole, Swindon and Wolves
  8. LATEST consensus apparently is two leagues ... no agreement on one.
  9. BECAUSE I know Harry Oxley and if there was a sniff that a SGP could work there he would have been all over it.
  10. NOW you are being silly. I fully agree that the SGP needs to find new venues but there simply isn't one in the US, even Orange County in Southern California, that would be viable and that will only get worse when their one world class rider hangs up his leathers.
  11. THE thing to remember is that those who go to Costa Mesa are not speedway fans as we know it. It is a night out, to whoop and shout, have a few beers, chat up the girls, smoke pot and most of the time not really know what is taking place on the track. It is a unique experience, great fun, entertaining in its own way. But would those same people attend a SGP nearby by? Probably not. They have no knowledge of speedway outside their own bubble, couldn't name a non-American rider and, frankly, have no real interest in what goes on outside of their own back yard.
  12. NOT when I've been there. It's just a 180-yard oval, no hills.
