  1. It was aways the promoter's wishes to get both top leagues as close in standard as possible. To an extent they achieved this by the doubling up system. You only have to look at last night’s meeting at Ipswich. Both Nicholls and Harris scoring very well, but in their next championship meeting they will be riding against some of the youngsters we have been discussing! So once again this has to be down to the promoters who have allowed this to happened? The pro arguments for doubling up is due to lack of riders. But who created this dilemma? Once again the promoters, by weakening the top league, it would make their running costs cheaper. I think they achieved this, but to the detriment of the sport at what costs! Last year saw the return of good quality riders. i.e Woffenden, Holder, Sayfutdinov to name but a few and this season the league has been bolstered by a whole batch of top class riders. So with that in mind the doubling up system shows it's flaws. Take last night’s meeting for an example. Nicholls, King, Ellis, Harris and Wright should be plying there trade in the top flight only. They shouldn’t be anywhere near the Championship league, but the promoters created this and now we have the silly sight of seeing Harris and co riding against, Second strings riders who were reserves last season and second string riders who are now heat leaders, add in the development league riders! Money for old rope as the saying goes for the likes of the riders I mentioned.
  2. Yes they are very weak, but it was the management committee who decided to weaken the league to such an extent, that all clubs have got Development league riders in their teams this season . Sam McGurk is not the only rider struggling. Poole have struggled for a No7. Trigger up until last week hadn’t pulled up too many trees. Berwick's Young reserve is struggling, Edinburgh 's reserves are up and down. The young lad at Glasgow looks out of his depth. In all truth a lot of these boys should not be riding in the championship, all it's doing is draining them of there confidence. Nine times out of ten they only score points off of each other or if a 1-5 rider has an e/f or falls! The management committee voted for it, no doubt to save money. So it is them and not the young lads, fans should be moaning at.
  3. That would depend on how many ex riders are on here!!
  4. I thought Young Killeen rode very well and did not disgrace himself. Even when he failed to score in a couple, he was on the pace. Put his senior partner to shame imo
  5. He might be in form the second division, but I don't think he would have got much change out of the Aces reserves to be fair.
  6. i suppose he could’ve felt sorry for Oxford after stopping a 5-1 for them in heat 3!! and as such let Boughen get away with it!!
  7. but the ref didn't exclude him. He is the only one who can, not the commentary team!
  8. So Allan and Tatum are now are now judge and jury. Allan can't even hide his favouritism. He's had to bite his lip a couple of times. He couldn’t say it quick enough regarding The young Oxford No7
  9. I think I've seen Bewley ride enough, to safely say he's no gating tart!! Very strange comment, do you watch a lot of speedway?
  10. and Frick missed out, but as you said, he's not best mates with monsterJoe!!!
  11. I don’t think you can say 'Home track advantage win's' Tom beat Dan fair and square in the earlier heat when they met. Dan and Woffy. have had plenty of experience in big one off finals. Maybe Tom hasn’t. That was the difference imo. At least Tom get to strut his stuff at Cardiff and well deserved too .
  12. Tatum ' I've not seen Tai ride like that for years" Maybe it's a tad harder in the GP'S Kelv!!!
  13. I think it's not the Hodder's fault..... The way the league has been watered down, and with all the clubs tracking NL riders, it was always going to be too tough for some. Hodder is not the only one not scoring points. The young lad down at Poole. got let go last week due to being a out of his depth . Ace Piper should be, with a years experience under his belt be doing a tad better, but he's struggling But then at the other end of the spectrum you have Hagon and Boughen doing extremely well. If you were to drop Hodder, who would you replace him with? Another rider from the NL? Would they do any better? The league has been setup like this, so it was aways going to be on the cards that most would find it too tough stepping up a league.
  14. Sorry I didn't explain myself properly. I meant Do Team GB drop Tai down to reserve due to his poor form internationally or do they keep Dan at reserve and use him tactically.
  15. But will team GB have the bottle to drop Woofinden! He will most likely have a good British Final and the usual protagonists will be clamouring for his inclusion. Even though the British Final standard is a lot lower than the GP's. You only have how to look how fast he looked around Sheffield, but he was only beating 2nd division riders. Tonight when the anti was upped he was outclassed !
  16. I think that was always going to be the case. It's never been a great track for good racing and tonight that was proof. As you say we've had some great racing in the other GP's. Alas not tonight.
  17. Have you seen Woofys scores in Poland? 4, 4, 2 He might be looking for a new team soon !!
  18. Woofy pulling no punches regarding the team!! Changes needed he hinted, but with the lack of riders available,. Who could the tigers bring in. they set out their stall at the start of the season with three vey strong heat leaders, which in turns leaves them with a longer tale
  19. Camera work is embarrassing. Onboard cameras may work in F1, but certainly not in speedway. Great race out front and we watch Howarth’s handlebars
  20. Trigger like the majority of reserves in the league this season haven’t beat a 1-5 rider yet. All his pts have come from beating fellow reserves. Maybe the way the teams are constructed under the new pts limit this season, thats all what is expected of them. Hopefully by the end of the year they will start being a bit more competitive against the main 1-5 riders,
  21. And with this weaker league, will we get lower admission prices? This year, last years reserves are now in the main 1-5 and all the reserves have come from the NL, but the admission prices have not been reduced to reflect this?
  22. So he beat Batchelor fair and square in heat 4. Other than that heat, he beat Liebmann x4 she beat him once and he beat McGurk in heat 2. If you look at the majority of reserves in the weakened CL they score their points off each other. last week Jack Smith bucked that trend as did Sam Hagon in his 1st meeting. Coincidentally, both attained their good scores against Oxford, who up until their match with Glasgow midweek. Their bottom end had hardly scored a point between them!
  23. but got beat by Scott, Wirtzfeld, Foord and Simpson down at Plymouth on Monday. A season in the CL would imo would have been the way to go
  24. Debatable, Bewley only finished a few pts behind him in the GP's and if we take their Poish averages (supposed to be the best league in the world) Lambert is 19th whereas Bewley is 9th!!
