  1. Most sensible posting Chris, totally agree.
  2. Why shouldn't they be in the public domain? These things obviously happened, no one has denied them! Or do you come from the fans pay their money and should be kept in the dark brigade?
  3. I've not read the book but whatever it contains will not take away the memory of Simmo team riding with Bettsy in Lynn colours. Pure poetry in motion. Such a shame very few riders nowadays can even hope to entertain us the way they did in that respect
  4. Not if it means Shovlars fav gets beat BTW has Shovlar actually congratulated the worthy winner yet EDIT, well he has finally got round to it now
  5. Lioness, I like your thinking but as I am on away on hols the week preceeding Cardiff with my memory I was afraid I might forget to cancel and end up paying for the rooms anyway. Rabbit we will have to agree to disagree on this one. If everyone who was against the profiteering by the hotel chains, cancelled they wouldn't do it again. I know I'm in fantasy land but that's what these large companies bank on. Well I'm sorry they will not be getting any money out of me. If you or anyone else chooses to pay extortionate prices, that's your decision, I prefer to spend mymoney supporting my team and other British clubs.
  6. Gem, I shall in some ways be sorry not to be at Cardiff mainly cos I won't get to meet you and all the other forum members I've got to know over the last few years. However I will not be taken for a mug, and IMO that's what these hotel chains are doing. I know all about supply and demand and fully expect all hotel rooms in Cardiff to be full. If they had said when the rooms were booked that the price would be £77 fine but they didn't and as I said I now prefer to spend my money on following the Stars on their travels. At present it looks like a 2/3 night stay near Redcar in August and probably another northern trip as well. That way we get to see some of the glorious British countryside as well. Speedway won't suffer, in fact it will benefit as any money we would have spent to get into the MS will now go to genuine British Speedway Promoters The bonus is I will get to watch the British GP live on Sky and hopefully see why everyone found Havvy and friends such compulsive viewing. If I'm totally honest the "show" put on by BSI has become somewhat stale and is no longer the draw that it was. As to the tatty rooms, we really couldn't be bothered. The beds were lumpy, but alcohol softened them there were cracked tiles in the shower room, only one sachet of coffee left in either room and when we asked for more were given 2 whereas in other years and in other Travel Inns we have just been given handfuls. Lots of little niggly things that we just ignored but the way this price hike has been handled annoyed all four of us. We use Travel Inns a lot and Roath is the worst we have ever stayed in, maybe it's do an upgrade....I'll never find out now will I lol.
  7. I've just cancelled 2 rooms for June 2nd and 3rd at Cardiff Roath, Premier Travel Inn. so if anyone wants to pay £77 per night for a tatty (and they were tatty last year) hotel room only go for it
  8. I will not and you can't make me The four of us that have booked rooms at Cardiff Roath have decided that Premier Travel Inns can stick their rooms where the sun don't shine. We will stay at home and watch on Sky. As was said in the original post, if breakfast was included it wouldn't have been so bad and in all honesty the Roath Travel Inn last year was decidedly in need of upgrading. So BSIs loss is about 4 PL tracks gain as we will now have 2 short breaks instead following the Stars away travels Racing will probably be better anyway
  9. They may be in for a shock then cos I'm certainly not paying for two nights at that price
  10. I was against it when it was introduced and still am. I've seen it help my team on several occasions but have NEVER yet seen it produce better racing which is what the public pay to see. In fact it does the exact opposite when the non TR/TS rider is constantly looking for the opportunity to allow his double point teammate to pass him. Drop the Dingly Danglies from a great height
  11. Sorry but if he is anti Royal why was he so "honoured". Louise, we all know how protective you are of Gary and how you think he is wonderful, but could I respectfully suggest you get your facts complete and correct before you post. You not only make yourself look somewhat of an idiot, I would suggest you are doing absolutely nothing to enhance Gary Frankums reputation either.
  12. I presume all those other stuck up people will also be attending as a way of being thanked for all their voluntary and charity work. What charitable thoughts some people have Best not say any more don't want to be modded
  13. I'm sitting here congratulating myself on being awake enough to grab the phone and change the hotel dates before the Cardiff phone lines went into meltdown Don't really care who is riding, I go for the social aspect as much as the racing.
  14. Best GP I've seen for many a long month. Probably had much to do with the fact there was loose stuff on the track and Olsen couldn't have his ultra boring slick track. We had decent racing right from heat 1. If it takes a few rainstorms to ensure racing tracks, bring on the clouds is what I say Referee was absolute crap IMO, he got every single decision wrong. I'm amazed he managed to get his socks on his feet and not on his head. Quote of the night from Millard as Gollob rode back to the pits "I thought he was applauding the referee"
  15. He's changed tac Rabbit ....a sure sign that you are winning the argument
  16. I don't totally understand it either, and I don't really want to. IMO it's a symptom or result of the dumbing down culture that abounds at present. It's about time folk who make EXTRAordinary efforts to achieve something were the ones that got the praise in all walks of life. Without wishing to put more felines amongst the feathered rats there was only one Brit last night that fits that bill and that was Simon Stead. Rico and Nicholls are regular performers on the world stage. Screen was and Harris tried but non of them made extraordinary efforts. Now I'm sorry if others don't agree but that's how I saw it.
  17. Fariy4ever, I did not say I was proud of Team GB, I wasn't. Some of them performed and some of them didn't but overall the team did absolutely nothing to install a feeling of pride in me. As for them not failing I guess you subscribe to the "deferred success" cr*p one of the teaching unions is advocating. Whatever happened to aspiring to success. Let's reward all the kids that sit on their backsides and not acknowledge those that work their butts of to achieve success Rabbit (and others) at no point did I criticise Middlo. I just think he always seems to get bad luck (he says so himself) so maybe to change the luck we have to change the manager. Comments about the Poles buying success, why not it's not against the rules! It's not cricket but so what. Maybe if Britain had done the same we would have performed better. This is not a criticism but do we really expect the likes of Stead, Harris and Screen to have machinery of the standard needed for this meeting. Let's be realistic it would cost them a fortune for 2 meetings per year so why should they personally bear the cost. I thought the ref was OKish, I really didn't see any reason to stop any races. These are men remember not CL novices. I certainly agree about the Poles being proud/delighted to have won etc. Their wholehearted singing of their anthem was in complete contrast to Team GB at Swindon, even if they were only singing Rhubarb, Rhubarb Rhubarb (someone should teach Holta the Polish for beetroot so he could singalong )
  18. So who do you suggest then If it's who I think it is I'd rather he was in the commentary box, he is much more fun than the biased, shouting idiots we had there tonight
  19. Team GB were simply not good enough. Simple as that. Richardson rode well (still don't like him tho), Stead was IMO excellent considering his lack of experience at this level and Bomber did his best. Time IMO for a total change, forget the old guard, bring in more youngsters and while we are at it, ditch the one that never has any luck. I know it's sacrilege to say it on here but Middlo has to go. Change the manager, change the luck....who knows it might work. Give the job to someone who knows how it's done, knows how the rider feel and burst with patriotism.....Gary Havelock.
  20. It could have brought a whole new meaning to the phrase "fill your boots" OK I'm leaving
  21. On right hand side of the homepage you will find SWC, click on that and it opens up the score sheet in excel. Simply print it off altho at the moment it looks as if the teams riding order have not been confirmed.
  22. Blooming heck Shazzy this is getting to be a habit
  23. Not just the ref tho is it? Had it been Nicki P using the elbow, this thread would have been at 20 pages already Where's all the condemnation for a dangerous move? What Tony R did was disgraceful and could have caused a massive crash if Watt hadn't slowed so fast. For the record I've never liked Tony R either, even when he rode for Lynn so I'll carry on with my crochet
  24. Amazing it was but we were yelling like hell for Adams to let Gollob thro to at least give the Poles a chance to avenge the injustice that was Rickardsson in the previous heat.
