Speedway needs him back like a hole in the head like the footy referees Poll (ect they want to be the stars of the show.He was awful no understanding and a ego bigger than Simon Cowell.!!

Impressed everytime i see him race ,by racing in Germany has really helped him not phased at all his manoeuvres from the back outstanding.As for the British Final all of us have been robbed what a joke,onwards and upwards for Robert.

One of the best posts i have read on here for along time i can relate to all of it especially the points about the reserves.Those riders were often the crowd favourites,no world beaters but real team players and often were long serving riders which all us fans could relate to.At Swindon Keen and Hitch were my favourites (not ASHBY ??) both real racers.Also your point about making your own assessments on riders is so right, often you need to forget the figures and averages and go by your own instinct.I don't no what others think wouldn't it be great if we had matches with all riders having there programmed rides and no tactical changes at all the best team on the night then wins.

Totally right the second halves they were excellent for encouraging juniors giving them experience and mixing it with the big boys.And your point about the Junior leagues is spot on at Swindon we produced Rosco,David/Kevin Smart,Hewlett and a few others with that ploy but cutbacks and change saw the end of it.

A great post one of the best ever,i loved the good old days like yourself and WK but we do realise things have changed .But for the BETTER that is debatable, going back in my memory i cannot remember endless guests being used number 8s yes which i agreed with but today guests are just the norm i am afraid.Is there a solution to guests i would say no to be honest, i think often when no 8s were used the teams often had two really good second/ third heat leaders which often sofened the blow.

Sarjeant i believe has done nearly as well as Garrity if anything at times he seems as capable as Garrity at beating the second strings i think Garrity his average is false .Also Blackbird has not been that great this year also in The PL he has not always done that well i think Sarjeant,Lambert, (ect the lesser lights have done well at times this year.

I went to the 75 British Final and i would think there were at least 15000 there it was packed.In the run off he should of been hard on Willy but he was just to fair i was a Wilson fan so the defeat was not hard to take.Overall Ashby underachieved similar to Phil Crump the moments that stick out for me was Crash winning the Superama, the BLRC ( with Briggo helping him should of beat Olsen) and the 1975 WTC.When i believe he won the big second half the Victor Lodorum trophy also beating the late great Jansson in one leg of the GH was a huge achievement as Jansson was a certain WC in the making great days.

Why would you not want him at Swindon? we get him we certainly would get in the playoffs.Also your daughter is aged 17 is she not old anough to be able to form her own opinion.

Great point i think the PL at this time is a pretty good product, really for me the EL could be in big trouble certainly if sky tv pull out. Travel South Blobby you might enjoy it.

Sheffield are top notch, Berwick Glasgow,Scunny all good set ups great entertainment Newcastle i loved them being in the old BL for a season was a great day out .Somerset who i forgot they have a great set up to but i know it will never happen the EL will always be a 8 to 10 team league which is such a shame.

I really enjoyed the meeting between two ambitious clubs and fair play to Glasgow the track and improvements look superb.I watch the EL everyweek but i really enjoy PL racing a decent product and i do prefer PL racing.Being selfish i would love Glasgow,Berwick,Sheffield (great track) Newcastle,Scunny to move up into the EL only if it was viable of course it will never happen would be great though different tracks a great day out.

Really sad i remember Frank riding i think when Ivan rode only in home meeting's for the falcons, RIP my thoughts go out to his family.

He really thinks about what he is doing in his racing,he is an in/out racer but his moves on a bike are tremendous.For control reminds me of a young Joe Screen not in style but the ease of the way he races.Also having his best supporters in his Mum/dad and a great team around him helps him he will keep on listening and learning and we might have a GP rider in him in five years time? i hope so.

Have you heard his Bridger's side of the story? not that he owes any of us an explanation hardly a hanging crime is it.

Why when he comes back at a high level,and believe me most of the public are Gullible and will forget he needs to keep his head down and keep out of trouble the rest will take care of itself.

You are right Wk,but i would say Lee did more good for the sport than bad.If anything he hurt himself more and his family especially his dad but lets not forget speedway was NOT totally blameless in some of his troubles Eglese Ebdon (ect).

He was involved in drugs but to my knowledge hurt nobody but himself.My point is why as an individual would you have that much respect for speedway is it barred from all corruption and wrongdoing's i think not. My world be a fair one Iris,not thuggery not violence we all know though it does happen in the real world.!

Bridger what is his biggest crime? also Lee made mistakes but also he did alot of good for the sport as i said before Lee owes speedway nothing in my humble opinion.
