Rye House Vs Kings Lynn Stars Mon 28/ 05/2018

When the cards are against you , it becomes extra difficult. We deserved a point tonight for the effort and that never say die spirit. I thought when Kerr's chain went , hope that wont be pivotal, but that would have given us a point. This chap Lambert is becoming a bit special -

That's a lot to pay for 15 races, there little wonder why fans don't go anymore. -

I'll second that. This year I have not complaints of the track and each week meeting we have seen decent racing. I always thought the Saddlebow track COULD be better than any in the UK ( NSS exception) and this year it has proved this point. Riders relishing coming here to race has provided some exceptional racing..... -

I'm all for rules and regulations that keep the sport operating correctly, but common sense must come into any equation . As long as the club is not seen to be bettering itself, then i have no issues with clubs using a facility to cover unfortunate instances. Once the season starts, riders have little space available to organise anything. if , like in this case, he needs an off period, to recuperate and recover from injury, then i see nothing wrong. Rules were not made for genuine people, they were incorporated because of people constantly pulling a fast one. It this case Niels is one of the genuine people and doing no wrong.... I feel sorry that Rye House fans not being able to watch Niels race, but they have the advantage of facing a weakened team with a better chance of success. But some people are never happy... -

Its always nice to welcome the World Champion to our track and watch him weave his magic, but I believe his efforts will not be enough to overcome the revitalised Stars . With Niels missing , Sam Masters is guesting for him. Sam goes well here, and should be an able replacement for our No 1. Robert will be relishing his rides against the WC and no doubt hoping to add another scalp to his long list of riders he's beaten this year. TP, TJ, MPT are all riding well, this will be Lewis Kerr's last meeting as reserve for some while as the new figures soon come into play, so no-doubt will want to impress before moving into the team proper. Andersen is improving every week and this could be the time for them point to flow. I feel Somerset have performed well this year, but believe this could be a long trip and not getting any reward........

Me ! as usual, I'm just waiting for Matt to pull another rabbit out of the bag... I would never bet against Poole not making the play-offs.. I've seen it all before ....... too many times....

I remember last year when Kennett just about beat us on his own. We were a million miles away from getting even close. But fortunately the whole team ethics has changed. We have got rid of those Prima Donors, and the team is now made up of keen, focused, and enthusiastic riders, all willing to fight for the cause. Although we will be considerably weakened by the absence of Niels, especially in those important heats 13 & 15, it is the first time for some years i feel confident that we can go anywhere and be in contention. Gone are the days when we made up the numbers, this year we know we will go there to fight. What we come away with depends on many things. Rye House's top four of CH, SN, KK and EK are all experience riders and are more than capable of winning races. But they will all need to score points. In the end, I think the Niels factor will be too much to overcome, and we will have to be satisfied with an away point, but you can rest assured the Stars will battle to win... -
KOC Semi Final Draw & Match Reports - Thread

Is that's kosher? Always nice to know the draw, just a shame it wasn't be on general release so we all knew.. I believe both Poole and Wolves fate were sealed with big 1st leg defeats, but never say never, especially in speedway... -
Poole v Wolves Premiership A. 23/5/18
g13webb replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Of the three matches that were raced last night , It was Wolves who in my opinion did best. I thought they would run Poole close and probably go home happy with a point.. To go there and draw the meeting is an admirable achievement . Not only winning 2 away points but also depriving Poole points they desperately need. I know its still 'early doors' but away points will prove invaluable when them PO positions are countered. This was enough to put Wolves back on top of the pile...... Impressive.... -
Fixed night farce-how much longer
g13webb replied to mickthemuppet's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Burying ones head is the biggest reason why our sport has never prospered. Positive comments are all very well, but Negative ones are probably more important. These are the posts from supporters who are not happy with the way they were treated. The club has to listen to those or lose them. Probably had the promoters listened to them in the past , the crowds would be bigger than they are at present. From a seasoned supporter of the sport, I go most weeks and thoroughly enjoy the racing. but I am not blind to the way fans are treated. Last week it took 2 hr 10 mins to run 15 races. That's terrible organisation, far longer than most other clubs. Just because Robert and the team put on a good display, this is no excuse for the delays we always face. I don't blame the club, when Lambert didn't get back or for the problems with Danish riders going missing, but I do blame them for not keeping the fans up to date with everything... I for one value negative opinions... They are of far more value to the club than those who can only see good..... -
Is this a new leaf the club has turned over, Whilst it wasn't the news we wanted to hear, at least we known what the situation is regarding Niels and his shoulder injury. Only a couple of weeks back we were complaining of the silence when we were told nothing about the riders missing, so it seems the Club is taking notice. Not sure how many meetings Niels will be missing, the 2 next week, 1 at Rye House and at home against Somerset, offer 2 different challenges. R/R at home will more then suffice when any rider can take a extra ride, but away to RH is a specific track and Lynn might benefit more with a 'Horse for Courses' Guest (if available) We are only a few meetings into the season and although early form is encouraging we seem to be having a lot of interruptions to the team selections. We can only hope the surgery goes well and Niels comes back quickly, and that settled formation has a chance to grow even stronger....

KOC Rye House - Swindon 23.5.18
g13webb replied to A ORLOV's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Pity this fixture wasn't the other way round. Had Rye House had the first leg it would have been a good meeting and attracted a decent crowd. Whatever the outcome of that first meeting , would have only added to the occasion. It wouldn't have been so impossible as trying to overcome a 28pt deficit that RH face. All the team have left to ride for is pride, and will that be enough to attract the punters in the numbers they require..... -
Correct me if I'm wrong, but am I right in thinking, today being the 23rd means the new average figures are taken, to be implemented start of June.. Looking at the current figures, the bad news is we lose Lewis Kerr from reserve berth , but the good news is, he will be replaced with MPT. Both these riders are showing tremendous early season form and have contributed to the fine start the team has shown. Whether Kerr can continue upping his average in the team proper remains to be seen, but with his razor sharpe gating and smooth style sure gives him an edge. Dropping MPT to reserve must be a tremendous asset to the club, being able to use him as a safety net, covering any rider having problems, and also assist his own scores against lesser opposition.... Must say its a Win - Win situation...

Belle Vue V Kings Lynn Stars 21st May 2018
g13webb replied to g13webb's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Firstly, let me say I hate it when anyone get injured, and wish Garrity a speedy recovery. but it wouldn't be the first time someone has pretended to fall hoping to con the ref. In his first 2 rides Garrity struggled to impose himself, me thinking Andersen could possibly beat him in that next race. When we see the slow motion replay of the accident on the media, I could see no sense in Garrity turning in to hit Andersen's back wheel, and so believed that it could have been preconceived. Rightly or wrongly, if it had been arranged, it would never be intended to get hurt. I apologise if I seem callous, but being able to replace him with Tungate and Bewley strengthened Belle Vue's corner considerably . I hope I am wrong in my thinking and that it was all an accident. Like I said I hate to see people get hurt, I hope he make a speedy recovery and back racing soon... -
Belle Vue V Kings Lynn Stars 21st May 2018
g13webb replied to g13webb's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Strange that !! Probably I was giving Lemon more credit than he deserved , in thinking that Garrity IRR was preconceived . There was no doubting Bewley and Tungate would benefit BV score, far more then had Garrity took his rides. Looking at the slow motion replay on the media, Garrity looked suspicious when he turned into Andersen's rear wheel when half a length adrift at the start. I was even surprised the ref ordered all four back. When he was replaced with Bewley I immediately praised Lemon for his application of the rules... Thinking 'You Crafty Sod' . But when reading the above post probably it was just in my twisted thinking that Lemon had in fact bent the rules to suit -

Sometimes meetings do work out as one imagines. Result in doubt until the end always makes it more interesting. Obviously pleased we took advantage of this ridiculous fixture planning, nobody has mentioned the crowd numbers yet , so don't know how it was perceived against that of the normal. Guests may have been somewhat weaker, but some of Belle Vue's own riders didn't perform has they could have, so it would be wrong to proportion all the blame on the guests... Never more than 6 points apart the end was always going to be close. From the contacts, the Updates; and tweets, we Stars fans should be very happy. We performed well as a team, we provided 7 race winners away from home, We only had 6 last places, and secure 4 of 5-1 race wins. All relevant facts that indicate our inner team strength. Niels, slowly but surely , is getting back to his old form, MPT is a far better rider than most people recognise, Proctor is proving he was never a gamble, Kerr has to be one best reserves ever , and Robert has at last come of age... No, we may not have won against a full BV side, but for sure we would have gave them something to think about..... That heat 13 last night was massive. to gain a 5-1 in that race after they had clawed back level , all but sealed their fate.,, -
How come Rory gets an extra ride from RR for Howarth?? Rory must be top rider in the averages let alone Wolves side... Andersen is a massive loss for Leicester and could be the defining issue. Had both teams been at full strength , I would have fancied the Lions for a comfortable home win, but now it will be much closer than that . Will go for close match with Wolves taking home a point...

King's Lynn vs Leicester KO Cup 2nd leg 16-05-2018
g13webb replied to Bald Bloke's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Years ago the whole concept of going to speedway meeting was entirely different than it is today. Firstly there were far more in attendance that created a better atmosphere, The evening was usually 22 or more races. that was pushed through with little or no breaks. The riders were not in a hurry to leave and would often mingle with the fans in the bars. This created much more belonging that the fans felt they had. Yes, the internet has made a tremendous difference to everyone's life and has to take some of the blame for falling attendances. But it would be wrong to proportion all of the falling numbers to that alone. The promoters and the governing body have not helped the sport progress with their reluctance to put the sport first. They don't address the problems on a united front. Its as if everyclub has their own agenda. You say we all need to lighten up and laugh more, I agree, life has become far to serious these days. When I'm standing in the freezing cold, waiting for the racing to start, I can assure you I don't find anything to laugh at... Sweeping deficiencies under the carpet doesn't solve any problems, they need to be addressed, so more people will be able to laugh and enjoy their speedway night out. -

Probably, Freddie is not missed at Monmore but away, he is a massive loss . Though Rory's going great everywhere, the rest need to step up a bit . Even if Thorsell and Masters score well, I still believe they will come up short and go home empty handed... -

When you look at the Polish meetings on Sunday afternoons you understand the differences between their sharp presentation and that of ours . All their meetings are run like clock work. You get the first four races run to a tight schedule, While one race is being run the next is being got ready. The 2mins means 2 mins the riders don't do much gardening , like they do in the UK. After 4 races there is a mini interval where the track is graded and punters go to the stalls for food or drinks. Heat 5 and the cycle is repeated . Crisp presentation that keeps everybody happy. Why do we fine that so hard to do ???? -

g13webb replied to g13webb's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
From the racing I've seen from and at the NSS , riders performances don't always coincide with their form at that time, so it could be that the 3 guest riders will put up a decent effort and score sufficient points to make it interesting. No disputing Fricke and Cook's class, but they haven't been hitting those big numbers we know they are capable of, so probably, this might just be a special night when those guests contribute to a close competitive meeting when the result is in doubt until the end.... We can but hope...
