  1. Sometimes, I agree with you . But the track shape remains the same. the main difference is the topping and how it is prepared. When set up for big meeting like the SWC it always produces good fast racing. Pity its not like that all the time.......
  2. What a terrific match, an exciting meeting to finish off the season. Congratulation to Wolves for winning the Elite League. Also to BV for being a fantastic opponents with wonderful race track. Last night was racing as it should be, fast flowing with not a thought of slowing down. This has always been my perception of how speedway should be and it never fails when you perform on fast tracks. Without taking anything away from Wolves, the two tracks used in the final were from each end of the spectrum and the advantage gained in the first leg, all be destroyed the event as a competition. In the end it was won by fine margins. Most riders had good and bad races ( with the exception of Freddie, who was without doubt the best on show over the two legs). Each rider dropped points but also stepped up when it mattered. PK was unbelievable, and even Clegg got in on the act with that important pass on Worrall Like Pete Adams said, BV was the best team of the year, but Wolves were best in October when it mattered...... Spot on .... I too dislike Woffy 's attitude of late, he come across so arrogant now. I found last night he was too opinionated for his own good. Yeah, brilliant talent, exciting to watch but he doesn't have the personality that I appreciate. Personally, when you turn your back on your team to go and ride elsewhere, I don't think you can bask in any glory the team has achieved...
  3. Why not have a team in the league called GUESTS. That way we could field who we liked on any given date and there would be no complaints if someone was missing.
  4. Never been a lover of the Wolves track, usually prepared OK but with long straight and tight corners it gives a massive home advantage. Fans go on about lots of overtaking but most are down to mistakes, made usually by the away side. If you make a good gate and ride the track right, then your win, as proved last night many times. How many times were mistakes made when in front, Not many... BV is a totally different track, but one I should imagine far easier to ride. I cant see riders making that many mistakes, when the most important aspect is to keep the speed on the bikes The first two races highlighted the problems BV had the whole match. Heat 1 Worrall drifting from the inside to allow PK past, Heat 2 Worrall going through he tapes, two instances that said the BV riders were not dialled in. Cookie and Scott also not at the party to start with but they got better. All points to bad preparation that allow Wolves the opportunity to clear off into the distance. I thought Wolves were brilliant. From the first race they were on it and that has to be down the management team. Top marks to Pete Adams. Mark Lemon still has a lot to learn...
  5. Sure was a real master class by Wolves tonight. Has made the 2nd leg a mear formality. Adams was very impressive. He outclassed Mark Lemon in tactics, in attitude and personality. Top man.....
  6. No doubt the meeting would be over in ultra quick time... I once knew a plasterer who liked his drink. When he was sober, his work was rubbish. but get him merry and his work was the bo.......ks. Amazing what a few drinks could do
  7. You have such a warped outlook on life. Whilst I feel sorry for Doyle getting injured like he did, you can't take anything away from Hancock in winning the World Championship. He has been there or there abouts all year. this competition is not a sprint and the winner is the person who acquires the most point. World class riders like Woffy, Holder and the rest have struggled to keep with Hancock, and only a late surge from Doyle has delayed the finish of the championship. Doyle has time on his side and he will come again. Only last year he was an accident waiting to happen and was involved in more crashing than anyone. But he learnt from it and this year he has been a far more consistent finisher scoring plenty of points. I believe in fate and probably it was right that Greg should win this World Title one last time as a thank you for being the great ambassador to our sport...... Make no mistake Doyle will come back stronger than ever... Congratulation to Niels on a wonderful win..... He needed that....
  8. Still waiting to see evidence of Buster with his New Broom..... He has a massive job to do.. But don't know if he will be allowed the opportunity to change things.. John Berry stated 30 odd yrs ago the sport is run on a 'I'll scratch your back' philosophy with no relevance to the sport at all. I haven't seen much change since then. Just hope the other promoters will back Buster in the hope our league can prosper.
  9. Personally I think this could be a wonderful development that could transform Speedway in all countries. Of cause I like watching top riders racing but, also I get more p---d off when they are away riding for other leagues and we have to make do with guests and rider replacement. Let not kid our selves we are at the bottom of the list when it comes to choosing where they want to ride. From all the top riders, we only get a small percentage and then we have to pay through the nose for that privilege. Most of these riders aren't bothered with our league and see it only as a stop gap, Of all the speedway I've been to this year, I can count the number of full teams on one hand... That's a massive turn-off..... I think this '2 club only' suggestion will really hurt these riders who use their position to hold our sport to ransom and milk it for all they can get. I've got nothing personal against Woffy, but for someone who turned his back on us at the start of the season to ride abroad, then come back when the playoff come to me is totally wrong. I see Wolves logic in going for glory, but we will never get credibility in our league while we allow rider s to pick and choose, if and when it suites their schedule. The biggest problem is, there isn't enough riders to go around, and therefore riders are able to ride 6 nights a week for different clubs. I'm sure if we set our stall out to run a professional league on strick rules, we will attain sufficient numbers and quality to enthuse the fans and progress to better things. Ok we won't get any SGP riders, but we can have regular speedway on regular nights, knowing each team will have a full squad with no guest or replacements...... and that's gotta be good....
  10. From a completely neutral viewpoint, I find it quite ironic that, for all their, ‘goings on’; ‘under handed dealings’; and rule stretching’s, a that this should turn out the way it did. Any away team riding at Monmore have to face a terrific home advantage, and will always find it difficult. Not every rider can adapt to the tight corners and will as such struggle, as we saw from some riders last night. When the rounds were picked I always felt this was going to be close. Poole suffering from many injuries sought solace from the aforementioned ways, which I believe is wrong and unnecessary. If it wasn’t for people’s perception of rule bending and subsequently their dislike for Poole, Poole could have come away from last night performance with their heads held high, after battling all the odds to come within a whisker of another final appearance. I’m not a lover of Poole or Ford’s ways to succeed, and last night it showed it is not ‘the be all’ about getting in ‘horses for courses’, when you have riders like Newman, Ellis, Freddie, Woffy, Masters, who all rose to the occasion. Usually the rider’s attitude is far more important than their name…. The score kept the match exciting to the end. I was pleased it went to the last heat. Wolves in the end were deserving winners, but only because they had more riders who delivered on the night. But Poole showed up really well and fought to the end…… A good night for the SPORT……..
  11. When someone cries wolf as many times as Poole have done over the years, I now don't believe anything I read or hear. Lindback may be doubled up in hospital with stomach pains to which I would feel for him, But unless i saw him with my own eyes then there will be this doubt....... No doubt Poole feel they will benefit more using R/R then what Lindback would have scored..... Cynical I know, but whose fault is that..??
  12. Because they pay the riders the most money, no doubt they can do as they wish. If they were to give the riders an ultimatum they would soon comply. Too much money too lose.... Could be the Kick up the arse the BSPA want. It will enable us to run our sport with riders who want to race her,e and not be dictated by foreign fixtures and SGP's....
  13. That's not exactly true is it. How many times has Poole signed a ringer on a ridiculous average. All these things come into play as to why nobody like Poole. The comments about the league would be a better place without Poole are very hurtful, but also very true......... At least there would be some creditability back to this sport....
  14. Reading on twitter that Poland want to govern riders to racing only 2 leagues next year would surely impack the Elite league big time.... It also said we are looked upon at bottom of the pecking order because the sport in this country is run like a joke............
  15. We are all aware of the unreal averages at the moment, but nothing will change untill the heat format is sorted. We need to revert back to the old system where they're no easy heats or protected races and all the riding positions are as equal to each other. Only then can we try to sort out the present muddled scores in the hope of level teams. The EDR system could have been a decent idea had it been run fairly. but when we have crocked selection process it was domed to failure. I have no doubt had Coventry, or other teams, been given Newman and Ellis as reserves, they too would have won the league. In its present guise the skill factor of the EDR's varies so much. and subsequently have too much importance in the results of matches. This has to change...... Probably teams only having one rider from a equal quality pool could be the answer..... Anything would be better than what we have now.....
  16. Few Ideas: Revert back to the old 15 heat format ( 13heats Formula, plus 1 extra res and 1 Nominated) and all 3 divisions to use the same heat format. Riders old averages only valid for 1 year; When converting averages from another league, to be done with laid down formula procedure. ( Black and white) Elite and Premier to amalgamate or divide into equal number of teams. Elite and Premier to run on different nights, to eliminate fixture clashes, or outlaw double uppers. Eight man squads to illuminate bandit guests. Guest if needed from a lower division.. Only sign riders who want to race here all the time..... Only one day signing window each month to cover seriously hurt riders, once the season has started... only then at the average the injured rider started the season with.... I'm sure I can think of a lot more......
  17. Nice to hear from someone with similar views to myself. I have been hoping Buster was the man to change it all, but as of yet, I am still to be impressed. Because of the dire state of our league and the amount of work needed to be done, we should be hearing noises now of what is the direction these changes are going to take. If the BSPA are thinking along the lines of ' We'll sort it out at the AGM' they couldn't be more wrong. These discussions need structure, they need changes that need to be discussed and opinions aired. The whole rule book wants binning and starting again, and all this needs time. No one man can do this alone, so it's very worrying that so far we have heard nothing. With the modern social media we all use, it has never been easier to get opinions and ideas. Surely had the BSPA had the intention to asking fans opinions it could have been achieved without too much hassle. I don't have much hope for big changes. The BSPA has always been about them and us, what a pity they don't realise we're in this together......
  18. Apparently, the rule was brought in as a safeguard for teams against injury to riders at this late stage of the season, not as a way of strengthening teams....
  19. To me whatever the team is next year is of secondary importance. My first thoughts have to be directed to the league and how it will run. The rules have to be addressed to bring us into the modern era. Heat format has to be looked at, hoping to do away with protected heats. The current CMA is an absolute joke and mean nothing , They too have to be looked at. There so much that need to be done that team selection is a minimal task........ Would love to see an open and transparent organisation where the rules were set in stone and any amendments would need 12months to be implemented. Only then would we be able to get some creditability back...... Wishful thinking....
  20. And there speaks someone who can only see Blue. There have been many riders who have rode injured, but this is not the point. Ford wanted to get better riders in to win the league. Ford thought Lindback would be stronger than Hans and replaced him with a rule that was introduced to safeguard a team that was genuinely short. Not only that, the BSPA gave him a average specifically allowing him to fit into the Poole team.... Now Ford may be able to dictate what meeting Hans rides in the UK, but obviously not abroad. Hans has always had an priority with finance and will still want to earn a living, so it was always expected when fit he would ride. Now this, no doubt, has embarrassed Matt Ford and the BSPA about their understanding of the aforementioned rule, It is so obvious to all and sundry that Ford has pulled another stroke in his addiction to win. If the sport had any creditability and the BSPA had any bottle, Ford would be taken to task for this deception and have those points scored by Lindback deducted from the first leg and make Andersen ride for the remainder of the season. But as we all know Ford can do what he likes and the BSPA will stand back and allow it.....
  21. I have never read such unimportant crap that you post in all my life. What I see is a little man, with a miniscule brain trying to defend the most corrupt man in the sport only intent on destroying it for his own personal glory. If there are some Dum Dums who cant see, then you must be the No 1...
  22. As with all sinking ships, the captain should take responsibility when the boat is in dire straits. This is a personal plea to Chairman Buster Chapman to call an emergency meeting to stop this sport imploding on itself. Poole and Matt Ford have destroyed all the integrity of this sport and unless apprehended immediately will not stop till he has drove all the fans away. The BSPA need to act now.... If ever the sport was in need of a strong Chairman, the time is now........
  23. Because of events in the past, I was always of the impression that Ford would do whatever was necessary to win the league. Belle Vue have reigned supreme all season and are rightly placed at the top of the league., so it was expected that Poole would do any underhanded practice and pull whatever stunts in an attack to their supremacy. The fact that Andersen got injured fitted the bill well, because Ford, would have made changes whatever. Lindback was always going to be considered option, just wished the BSPA were more on the ball. But don't think the deception would stop there.(remember last year replacing North with Kennet with a Doc certificate) only highlight the length he will go to achieve his target.... Matt Ford will never be remembered as a top Manager/Promoter he could have been. The leagues titles he has won means nothing. He will be remembered as the person who brought the sport to its knees with his underhanded corruption, lies and rule breaking. At a time when the sport was in dire need for some inspiration, all that Ford offered was a disease that destroyed our sport to the core. Well done that man........
  24. My dad was a genuine man, he worked all his life and was honest to the day he died. I owe his so much, non more so then when he introduced me to the Motor bike sports of Scrambling, Motor Racing and Speedway. This love has been with me for years. He taught me many things, and made me appreciate life the correct way. The most important aspect in life was to be honest and treat people as you want them to treat you. Be honest with yourself in what you achieve. If you have to cheat or hurt people to achieve them goals, then the glory will never be there. Falsification destroys all the glory and your achievements are worthless.. He said if people don't appreciate your greatness then its was done wrong. If your goal cant be achieved by doing it right then its not worth doing...... What a pity there are not more people around like my old man.......
