You would think an air fence thats 100 percent fixed down with no movement in it would see riders bouncing back into the track way more than they do now. It would be interesting to see if the number of injuries have decreased or increased since introducing air fences as well.

Back in the day, I remember you often had top riders missing in the premier league for stuff at weekends but legit things like world longtrack series, world under 21 qualis etc. I remember Newport missing Glenn Cunningham on a few Sundays for world long track events and Wato, you don't mind if its a couple of times for a legit reason. As years have progressed the absences have become more ridiculous, missing a meeting for your club as your Polish club wants you at a photo shoot and press and practice and what have you. Its pathetic. It really is gutting to see what a laughing stock the sport is nowadays. I'm not sure if such a slump has happened before in the 60s, 70s or 80s but the state of the sport now compared to the years I followed (90s and 00s) is something that I can't see a way back from. Promoters are mostly to blame, when things started slipping in the winter instead of nipping those issues in the bud there and then, they buried the heads in the sand and this is the result of it.

Poole v Scunthorpe 8/4/26 KO cup
Pinny replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
It was a daft decision to bring Pickering in from the clown at Scunny. Pickering is class and a brilliant rider but to waste such a chunk of team building on him as well as presumably the amount he is being paid? Bonkers decision. The rest of the team is rubbish and Harrison is expected to ride as third heatleader when he should be second string paired with a heatleader to develop more. -
Phil Morris has the sport at heart and wasn't allowed to do what he wanted with British Speedway by the clowns who run the sport , mainly that w anchor Godfrey at Scunthorpe. How the hell he got into such a high up position is anybodys guess.

Belle Vue v Sheffield KOC March 30th 7.30pm
Pinny replied to Aries's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Its not just one meeting though is it? What did he average for Poole from reserve last year, wasn't it under 4? As for crescent girl saying someone has lost their mind, dear oh dear. You lost your mind a long time ago mr barrie. its time the rising star program was removed from the top tier , it does more harm than good for young riders. -

Danny King in 03 would of been british league cup for Ipswich not EL only meetings. Basically premier league standard at the time but point taken, as a 16 year old he was also streets ahead of Cairns. -

Its not OTT and its not odd at all. Go and read what people said about Boughen then look at the same people slating him as over rated when the wheels come off. I will take my hat off to Cairns if and when he hits form as obviously would like him to be a future star of the sport but after 25 years of following speedway there have been many , many riders hailed as the next Lee or Loram who go on to do not a lot. All this nonsense that riders should be in the top tier needs to stop. Riders should be left to the bottom two tiers to develop not slung into the top flight as rising stars having their confidence dented week in week out. -

The most recent one I remember was Kyle Bickley at the same age being highly rated in the under 15s and national league etc. fancy van and kit and ended up doing nothing. Kennett at 16 was a far bigger talent, ripping up the old Premier League for Rye. Then you had Olly Allen, Simon Stead, Chris Neath, Andrew Appleton, Ross Brady plus more all far better at 16 than Cairns. be fair to give him the season to see how he goes but so far it looks like hes just another over rated young British rider. Not his fault but the usual suspects for over hyping him. -

Cairns has been hyped up massively over the last 2 or 3 years but its clear to see he is out of his depth at this level. There has been many, many better British teenage prospects over the years than him. -
H man knows Zagar from his Reading days I am sure.

Somerset was about 4-5 miles away from Burnham on sea. Your going even more loopy in your old age.

Mikkel Bech was around MJJs time but was never on his level although he thought he was. he was about at the time there was loads of young danish prospects like MJJ, bach, larsen, kildemand etc. didnt Bech end up at plymouth and use them as a convenient cash cow when he could be arsed? good luck to a new club opening up. Hopefully the backers have deep pockets.

End of Feb and the top tier of British Speedway still hasn't confirmed how many teams will be running. Final nail in the coffin.
-
Mid Feb, no concrete confirmation on how many clubs competing in the top tier and no idea (officially) who is behind the Ipswich take over. No signings either. Its mental . People wonder why the sport is not taken seriously. As I read elsewhere, this has been the worst close season I have ever known of. Absolute mess. The posts I have read on Scunny signing a team over the limit just about sums the state of the sport up.

You must be joking surely. if you watch the podcast she is on the other day where she came out with her latest nonsense, you will see she is a horrible, lying, twisted piece of work. Like a character from top boy sat there. Thankfully she will only make a few quid now from podcasts as she is headlines for all the wrong reasons but she wont earn anything from proper televised football again. No channel will go near her now. Joey Barton is an absolute pleb , but he was right with this one.

Stinks of desperation . Opening a new track with no fanbase and slinging them into the top flight. Whoever is fronting this will lose a fortune.

Why only tag me in this? Over half the forum knows who he is. A disgusting individual who should be locked away for life.

2026 Premiership is Go! - At least 5 teams
Pinny replied to RoundTheBoards's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Agree. Its a shambles. The amount of fixtures is ridiculous. The Premiership even riding home and away twice is still shocking. One big league was needed to sort this mess out. Limit teams to 5 or 6 riders and change format if not enough riders to go around. The gap in fixtures is not good enough. Its farcical. It seems that the majority of fans can see whats wrong with the sport but those numbskulls in charge can't. Pathetic. -
The first thing you should do when released from prison is keep your nose clean and head down. He didn't and he got recalled. So straight away he has had a second chance at life and fcuked that up.
-
If you are let out on license and get recalled, you have broken your license conditions. I would hazard a guess that the majority of prisoners who breach license conditions and get recalled end up committing more crimes once serving the full sentence and get recalled. It would be great to log on here in 10 years and see that he has not re offended, is clean and kept his nose clean and relaunched a decent career. But we all know the chance of that is about as likely as seeing Craig Cook crowned world champion. Garrity was well known to be a lowlife well over 10 years ago and the stories of his off track antics were circulating when he came on the scene in the old National League/Conference League (Buxton?). Any promoter taking a chance on him deserves any flack they get.
