As well as the Kurtz brothers teaming up together for a PL side down south. Brady Kurtz is going to be a sensational signing for a PL team next season.

Harris Threatens To Quit Team Gb
Pinny replied to JT's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
So your saying only Gp riders should compete in the world cup?! Harris is nowhere near good enough. The fact he didnt even make the GP challenge final says it all when crap like Ljung, dryml, smolinski etc did. -
Alden the best in PL when up for it? Lol! You can say that for most heatleaders in all honesty but the top PL rider doesnt thrownin 3's and 4's on a regular basis. Hes a good rider but an inconsistent one... A 9.00 average is something he will never acheive and for anyone to chose him over Fisher would be crazy. So what if Fisher has had a few scuffles with Berwick riders in years gone by, didnt Ashworth punch Makovsky (who was no angel himself by a long way) from his bike a few years ago at Berwick?? Now hes the best thing since sliced bread!! Feel Berwick may of been a bit hasty purchasing Aldens contract, may of been better to review his form at the end of this season before making a decision. Ashworth, Aspegren, Bellego, Alden, Barrett, Kozza and Edberg would be a decent side should it fit under the 42.5 limit (assuming it stays) for 2013 . Wouldnt bother with Complin purely because he doesnt cut it away from home, and if reports that the rider Albin has already signed up on 5.00 are true then thats total lunacy imo. Cant help thinking Edberg is a bit over rated either, as many have posted he has a low average for a reason, the figures dont lie.

Hes moaning that a rider sat out of the qualifiers and turned down a wild card... A very pointless thing to do!! I would hazard a guess plenty of riders have been appproached about a wild card and turned it down and not entered the qualifiers but because its Ward who most seem to despise of, people rip into him. The GPs should be the best 15 in the world and if this means Ward gets a wild card without qualifying then so be it... Hes proved he is more than ready with his previous gp results. Also think cack like Dryml and walasek etc should be banned from qualifying... Lets be honest what would they add to the series? Sod all. Neither are exciting, dryml in particular is no more than an average reserve in the leagues he competes in. NKI has been a sensation this season, hes a much better rider than Zagar in Poland and is well up there in Sweden too infact does Zagar even bother in Sweden?

Fair point. Also worth adding that Plymouths healthy crowd probably allow Bowden to spend a lot on his side whilst Newports didnt Although if hes paying that kind of money then how hard would it of been to assemble a star studded line up ?!
-
60 a point for Glanz?! Lol! Seems that it maybe Glanz taking Bowden for a ride!! I know of 3 or 4 2011 Newport Wasps riders who were on less and were banging in double figures most meetings!! And they were said to be overpaid!
-
I seem to remember a swelled crowd Turning up at Newport for a PL meeting last year when the price was reduced to a tenner but for some bizarre reason the prices were back to normal the weekend after!!!
-
Pretty sure there were nearly half the amount of gps when Stoney was in them and when he was away they used a guest
-
Yes tsunami theres a massive resemblance as i pointed out earlier in the topic. Sad to see that both newport and workington could both be history after the size of our crowds back in the late 90's... By far the two biggest sets of supporters ive ever seen in the PL.
-
Certainly not am just saying, newport also had expensive teams and low crowds but constant threats in the press done us no favours at all Id never invest in a speedway club in this day and age unless i had a bottomlessnpit of millions and millions and i give a certain amount of respect to anyone who does invest but just like the malletts at newport, people were longing for a successful business man like denham to come in and splash the cash and since he has it just hasnt worked out sadly.
-
One thing is for sure, threatening the fans with closure wont tempt fans back, we had it at Newport last season and crowds didnt pick up at all.
-
Maybe Doolan to Berwick, seems to score well all the time there remember he scored well for Newport as a guest at tail end of last season? Dont think he will ever return to an over 8 point rider infact i am sure he only ever had a couple of seasons as a high flying number 1, ive always had him down as a solid second or third heatleader .

You just fed him yourself a few posts up! Quality.

Plymouth V Berwick... 14th September
Pinny replied to Shadders's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Holder has been rubbish all season but think you will find Kurtz hasnt done a bad job... Granted he has been poor away on times but his home average from the difficult number 2 position is probably about 6?? Surely 2012 will be the last of Bowden involved in speedway? -
where as at Somerset he has Cardiff, Bristol, Exeter all within an hour (ok cardiff maybe 1.25 hours) and main airports like Heathrow, gatwick, stansted a lot closer than Berwick. I know from speaking to Robin a few times that he loves Somerset so if they are willing to have him, which on his average id imagine they will, i can see him heading there. If you really think clubs and riders dont talk during the season then you must have lost your marbles Tsunami... Id bet 20+ riders are already near signed up at new clubs for next year already!!
-
Hardly poaching is it? Its ideal for him with more airports within range, he flys around the OTA and likes it down there, would of joined them earlier in season I think but for one reason or another it didnt happen.
-
Would be stunned if Aspegren isnt at Somerset next season.
-
Pedersen simply shut the door, if Jonsson had gone by no doubt some of the knobends on here would be questioning why Nicki had left a gap for him to go through. Imo no different to the recent Andersen/Ward final bend at Swindon, where Ward shut off when Andersen slammed the door, cant remember Hans getting slated for that apart from a few uneducated bufoons. If that had been any other rider nothing would of been said and if people were genuinely offended by Nickis post race behavior then get a life!!!
-
Correct me if im wrong but isnt gjedde currently nursing a broken back hence missing meetings? He certainly was fine for Newport last season in fact dont think he missed one meeting!

Leicester Vs Workington - 02/09/2012
Pinny replied to Firestone1's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
The lack of deal with the stock cars may well be why the Malletts pulled out... But the reason why speedway is no longer in Newport is because the Malletts would not sell up to Phil Morris when he offered a price worth more than what they ended up getting at scrap value... This is a fact. The squad the Malletts assembled this season would of been unstoppable imo... The two key members were Mellgren and Aspegren and look at their form for Rye and Berwick... Add a super reserve in Kurtz who has more or less held his average in the main body of a poor Plymouth team and we would of had a mega side. Unfortunately it wasnt to be and the Club is no more although I heard rumors on the weekend that plots of land just outside Newport are being looked at and have the councils backing, how true this is i do not know lets just hope that, Peter Mole and Kevin Brown excepted, none of the previous promotors or managers are anything to do with it!!
