Newport Speedway Fans Forum
Pinny replied to falconreble's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Site is ready for 2012 season... no 2011 reports, profiles or stats will be used on the website from now on . I suggest you email Laurence Rogers if you would like a complete run down of stats. -
The question is, which rider will go missing first? Werner, Glanz or Boxall?
-
Brainless team building from Silver. Could hoof out Hawkins and bring a 7.5ish rider in which would probably make Rye a top 4 side, instead they look nothing more than average. Why he persists with Bowen year on year is anyones guess.

I agree that whilst the PL top end is not as strong as it was, the lower end is much stronger than before. 42.5 without bonus is not far off 45.0 with bonus, so the PL isn't weaker than before. The EL, however. Well that's a different story!
-
I can - its a well known fact that Polish workers come here and are happy to settle for half the price a Brit will ! I would hazard a guess that except your world class Poles, the second rate ones that Ippo and Newport for example used to sign were fairly cheap !

I think bridger is the type who will ride as much as possible... He will make mega money riding PL and EL and as long as he is allowed to do it, he will, same as barker. I'd quite like to see the likes of bridger and stead to drop down next year, personally.
-
Like joe screen who came in on 12 yet just scraped a 9 point figure, he's been a fine addition to the PL!
-
As much as I despise bridger, he'd quite easily attain a 9+ PL average.

Ward Signed For Torun

Bit of a weird thing to say, Holder has finished in the top 8 twice now out of two attempts and has already won at cardiff. Emil was 3rd in his opening year, had an injury plagued second year and was 6th this year. Both have been fine additions to the series and I have no doubt Darcy would be equally as impressive as those pair now. Think he would make the top 8 in 2012 should he take part. -
Newport Vs Scunthorpe/sheffield 29/10/11 6pm
Pinny replied to Fozzie4388's topic in National League Speedway
In all honesty I think both promotions will just want to get this final fixture out of the way. I don't think either side are taking it too serious really, Scunny haven't bothered splashing out on a guest for their #1 and Newport are not fielding their number one, despite him riding lastnight for the Wasps. Should be a huge Newport win I would imagine and like someone said, if Herne doesn't get a max I would be stunned. -
If Not Darcy Then Who?
Pinny replied to PHILIPRISING's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
The GP series must pay well enough, other wise the likes of PePe and Bjarne wouldn't be desparate to get back in there. They both surely know that even a top 8 place is highly unlikely, so why would they want to be part of the series, knowing they are 95% likely to be placed in the lower ranks come the end of the series, if it wasn't worth their while? -
me too!!!

You can also add Tai to the not up to it list... infact can add any of the Brits you mentioned to that list.

Anyone with a decent stream? The one previously listed is stalling all the time for me. -
Go with no Brits next year. None of them are good enough.

Your not winding anyone up - your making a total tool of yourself.

20.08.11 Sgp Challenge Vetlanda
Pinny replied to smiles's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I dont mind watching Lindback again as he is an entertainer when put on a proper track where you can pass, and Bjarne mixes it with the best and is still a very good rider who has won GPs and made finals on his way to featuring in the top 8. But watching Pepe doesnt get the juices flowing at all and he will no doubt be one of the back markers in 2012. Still feel Anton has a lot more to offer to the sport. His world cup form was good and his recent GP scores are improving. he was head and shoulders above anyone on display at Vetlanda, having watched the meeting. -

No I'm not having a laugh. You need to be a superb rider to win a world title. Gollob is and has, and is one of the top 3 most popular sportsmen in poland which says it all. Gollob is a bellend and a legend at the same time. But after crump, nicki and trick, he's been the best in the world over the past 15 years or so.
-
Any rider who is crowned world champ, whether its one or 6 titles, will go down as a true great. Fwiw, I despise of gollob, his attitude smells worse than a tramps armpit. But he has been true entertainment, infact in the 13 years I've been a fan of speedway, along with trick and andreas jonsson, he's been one of the most entertaining riders I've witnessed on track.

Neil Middleditch
Pinny replied to Daniel Smith's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
And Middlo has no input on Pooles side? he just sits all winter and waits for Ford to ring him with the line up? I dont think so. Middleditch is a fine team manager and his record speaks for itself. peter oakes has been at many clubs. Peterborough, Belle Vue, Coventry are three I know of and there probably is more. Wasnt he Swindons TM? I think the only person who could match Middlo is Rosco. May not of won a title with Swindon but its no conincidence his first year away, he wins the league with Coventry. Rosco is one of, if not the most passionate TM I have seen, and I think he would do a good job for Team GB. As for Middlo not hearing of Andersson, well who knows. Most spotted his talent a couple of years ago. He didnt just appear from nowhere, I remember Iris123 posting he was one to watch some time ago and his scores have only gone one way since. Every EL team manager would of had him on their radar. Middlo is a good TM and is passionate about the sport. He is no way the reason why Team GB are so pants, the reason behind that is the BSPA. Absoloutely no interest in developing young talent from a young age and the result is the total tripe we witnessed tonight. You can't fault the riders for riding for the team, any riders dream would be to represent their country but there should be more talented riders on offer for Middlo to select. Then again, I still think a team of Richardson, Harris, Nicholls, Woffinden and Kennett would possibly of gone through tonight. They are the best 5 Brits. But when you look at Poland, riders like Ulamek, Balinski, Holta etc weren't even in Polands team yet would all score more than most of our side. Poland as a nation are streets ahead of GB. Denmarks team is superb as well and despite not having top liners left out (although Andersen probably is WC material), they have superb youngsters like Jepsen Jensen, Mikkel B Jensen, Mikkelsen, Madsen, Klindt, Bjerre junior who in 5 years or so will be super stars. Sweden also have a bright future with the likes of Andersson, Sundstrom, Lindgren junior, Nilsson, Gustaffson etc who will be big stars in the future. Who do Britain have? At the same age your looking at the likes of Garrity, Howarth, A. Morris etc who are fine young riders but not in the same league. I suppose you can never say never though, Harris was appauling when he first started out in PL racing, I remember him only ever being able to ride Exeter and he came from nowhere to become our best rider. You see Denmarks team and it has been the same since about 2003. Nicki, Bjarne, Hans, Bjerre and Iversen. Four of those are still in the side, and it probably would still include Hans had he not got injured. Their SWC record is brilliant, but now you will see the young Danes replace some of the older ones. I think Iversen will ride his last SWC fixture on Saturday at Gorzow and will be replaced by a young Dane next year. Korneliussen made a super debut but how he copes at Gorzow is anyones guess. Just explaining how other countries have so many options due to their successful 80cc leagues. Britain have none. What will we do when Harris wraps in SWC? A team of Tai, Kennett, Barker, Bridger and King. It probably wont get past event 1! british Speedway is in a dire state and the BSPA need to take massive action. For a start, get an 80cc track made this winter, invest in some 80cc bikes and host training schools for the youngsters, they need to start somewhere and its how the major countries develope their talent.
