  4. SUPREMO SPEAKS Friday September 04, 2015 PROMOTER Ged Rathbone believes Peterborough are genuine Premier League title contenders. The Readypower Panthers are guaranteed a place in the play-offs but continue to battle for second place and a direct route into the semi-finals with three meetings remaining in the regular season. The first of those is tomorrow (Saturday) when they entertain fellow title hopefuls Somerset at the East of England Showground (7pm). "This is the business end of the season and we have a realistic chance of fighting for the title," said Rathbone, in an interview with BBC Radio Cambridgeshire. "I don't think too many people would have believed it if we said we would be in this position at the beginning of the season, but we have worked very hard to get here." Rathbone also spoke about his expectations of a thrilling clash against Somerset, and the recent captures of Ben Barker and Anders Thomsen, who makes his debut tomorrow.

  7. So which of King Lynn or Belle Vue will be the whipping boys for Poole in the Play Offs... Its all so exciting - that why we all love the Elite League...
  8. Bjerre is and has been a bit of a joke for a couple of seasons now...He will bottle it big time even if you do scrape into the playoffs... He should retire and get a proper job in Santa's Grotto... or a pantomime! - High Hooooo!!! Why no Tact ride in Heat 6.... Dear oh dear!!!
  9. surly your promotion must have the gumption to put together come individual challenge meeting or a Midlands challenge match. With 2 months of the season left the Promotion should look to arrange and then promote...
  10. was last night just a blip? Or will our season come to a sudden and abrupt end come the play offs?
  11. Public apology follows Panthers thrashing Michael Palm Toft top scored for Panthers at Ipswich. Mark Plummer 08:24Friday 28 August 2015 Peterborough Panthers’ worst performance of the season was followed by a public apology last night (August 27). The city racers were thumped 61-29 in an East Anglian derby clash at Ipswich . . . and joint boss Dale Allitt pulled no punches in a damning assessment of a dismal display. Panthers failed to master some tricky track conditions at Foxhall as they managed just one race win and one heat advantage – both of which were provided by recent recruit Ben Barker in the fourth contest. Allitt said: “Some people might think it was a meeting to forget, but I actually think it is one to remember. “It is easy to pat each other on the back after a win, but what defines a team is the way it reacts to getting thrashed. That is exactly what happened . . . we got thrashed. “We were second-best out of the gates, in the first two bends and down the back straight. We were second-best everywhere. “Supporters have paid money to travel to the meeting and watch a performance like that. We have to apologise to them for what they saw as they deserved better. “This result has left everyone hurting, but also very keen to respond and I’m sure everyone will see the true spirit of Peterborough Speedway in the next couple of meetings.” It certainly didn’t make for pretty viewing last night as Panthers were put to the sword from the moment the tapes went up. One of their former riders – Ipswich number one Danny King – set the tone for his maximum and the home domination by bringing in the easiest of 5-1s in the opener. Another swiftly followed in a second heat finally completed at the third attempt after Panthers reserve Rafal Konopka suffered the first of his four tumbles and collected the first of his two exclusions. Even those with the hardest of hearts would have struggled not to feel sorry for the Pole whose only point arrived in a heat nine re-run when he was Panthers’ sole representative – but he even had to remount after a spill to earn that
  12. sounds like a very good move as we enter the final couple of months of the season, Will strengthen us for the play offs... let hope everyone stays fit now once Oystercard is back!!
  13. someone mentioned Robert Lambert joining the rockets in the Rye House v Ipswich thread didn't they?!
  14. will Bellego be officially announced in time to ride in the Ipswich meeting on Thursday?
  15. just go R/R and Guests - especially with the Play offs around the corner. Availability shouldn't be an issue ... especially if in the semi finals ... Use the top teams boys for guests.
  16. Speedway - Panthers bombshell as Blackbird decides to quit Lewis Blackbird has retired from speedway. Mark Plummer 14:19Thursday 20 August 2015 Peterborough Panthers have been rocked by a retirement bombshell from one of their riders today (August 20). Lewis Blackbird has notified club bosses of his decision to end his career with immediate effect. Promoter Ged Rathbone revealed Blackbird (28) has previously told him the current season would be his last in the sport, but he has now opted to hang up his kevlars early following an injury interrupted campaign. Supremo Rathbone said: “Lewis has informed us of his decision to retire from the sport. “He had always insisted this would be his final year to his business commitments outside of speedway, but it is obviously very disappointing to lose him at such an important stage of the season. “The season hasn’t gone the way he had hoped. His fitness and form were affected by a crash back in May and it took him a long time to get himself right again. “He was involved in another crash riding for his Elite League club, Wolverhampton, on Monday and I think that has proved to be the final straw. “He has been a very popular rider with our supporters during the past two seasons. We thank him for his contributions during that time and wish him well for the future. “We are already working on bringing in a new rider and hopefully we will be in a position to do that early next week.” Panthers will operate the rider replacement facility to cover for Blackbird against Newcastle, but talks are already understood to be underway with a potential new recruit. Panthers have six meetings remaining in the regular Premier League season and look almost certain to secure a spot in the play-offs. It has been a hectic week for the club following the sacking of teenage ace Robert Lambert and the capture of top Premier League star Ben Barker earlier in the week. Barker makes his debut against Newcastle tomorrow night. Blackbird had been acting as stand-in captain with skipper Ulrich Ostergaard out injured. Reserve Simon Lambert will now take on that role when he returns from his own injury lay-off. Ostergaard will now represent the club in the Premier League Riders’ Championship at Sheffield on September 6. The Danish ace, currently out with a broken hand, but expected to be back racing within days, finished third in the same event in 2014. More to all of this than meets the eye!!! Who wants a Fiver that he comes out of retirement at some stage?
  17. I was only joking chaps No chance of Uncle Len and Warren Scott splashing the cash eh? - but you have to agree Lambert was pretty amazing around Rye House the other week against the Diamonds!!
  18. will uncle Len drop Edward Kennett and replace him with Robert Lambert ?
