Ales Dryml would be super especially around the Showground, whoops I forgot, didn't he like to get paid?
-
1980 Oh yes I was there too. Bruce Penhall 12 point max, Rye were second and Ole Olsen 4.

Great result last night for the Rockets, just about rekindled our season. Yet again it shows that if you can have a big scoring No1 (Kennett just continues to amaze me, in a positive way) and a big scoring reserve (boy have we missed Kasper) it can go a long way in winning matches. A lot of Edinburghs success last year was Cook at No 1 and Worrall S at reserve whilst Ipswich may win our League Cup group oh yes, King at No 1 and Covatti at reserve.

Thanks

Shadders, who is responsible for payment as its Lens team and Warrens stadium apparently?

Good luck Simon, one of the most pleasing on the eye opponents to watch (and I look forward to that again in the future) -

Firstly lets get things in perspective our thoughts and best wishes are to the three injured riders. What a sport we follow when my first reaction is good when I read the words "stable condition". But I do have concern regarding Bowens sabbatical, I have always supported Luke through the years nobody has given more for the club in both commitment and injuries and I fully understand finally it may be too much of a sacrifice, but this 28 day wait is starting to ruin our season especially with Kasper out (again no idea if its three hours , three weeks or three months) In short nobody is ever bigger than any club so please get back now Luke if you want to ride as we need your firepower at reserve or call it a day so we can redeclare our team. -
Somerset V Rye House 10/04/2015 (league Cup)
Rayleigh replied to JamesM09's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Last season the most frustrating thing was a guest was normally a NL rider when other teams choose real value as a guest, no doubt the reason was, it was the cheap option. This season seemed to be different with Covatti guesting but soon as we lose at home it back to the cheap policy (Greenwood D is not even the best Greenwood, who himself could be dropped any day) And what happens the reserves score a whopping 3 combined. This is not a complaint of Greenwood and I thank him for his efforts but where was Sargeant, Ellis, Clegg, Covatti, or either Neilson to name some. I know we only won 4 heats but with Somersets three No 1s that is usually going to happen its the 3-3s that you need to nick a point. We HAD a chance of wining this section -
Rye House Raiders V Mildenhall Saturday 7pm
Rayleigh replied to Paul's topic in National League Speedway
* So we have a new promotion committed to Speedway * Major works started on the stadium (They were upfront about it will take a while) * We have a new sensation in Busk (an even better start than Sundstrom made) * Both teams unbeaten * Raiders had no riders in February and yet have a more than competitive team now * No prima donnas messing us about * Andrews production line has started (do not judge Hume, Boutall and Hunter on April 4) Guess what, people still find the ability to moan, well if you do not approve then get your own cheque book and do better, but in the meantime do not p*ss off Warren Scott the rest of us are right behind him. -
Thanks shadders

Shadders, we couldn't make it last night, did the Raiders get a run out and if so, how did they look?
-
Not a great situation regarding Kennett (but remember this is speedway, not a normal sport) more concerned about Swedish commitments for Busk and Robin.
-
More than happy with the Rockets performance last night, Just compare Aspegren, Jakobson and Kasper for Garrity, Bunyan and Tres (forget all the off track baggage) and the team is much stronger. But perhaps the best thing that happened was after a "can only happen in speedway" long gap before the rerun of the 5-0 race, Warren Scott (new owner) appeared in front of the referees box to demand that they "get on" with the meeting, does speedway finally have a promoter who considers the shivering fans. WELCOME WARREN.

Birmingham Vs Cradley (ch) 18th March 2015
Rayleigh replied to 21st century heathen's topic in National League Speedway
Just checked out the score from this evening and to be quite honest, provides nothing to make ANY fan enthusiastic about wasting their time (forget the money aspect !) in going along to a national league meeting. Over the close season have read so many team announcements about the signing of 'x' or 'y' who have signed, but then when you look into their individual profile, have only recently taken up the sport. Over the last 2 years have attended most of the Coventry Storm meetings at Brandon. Think for 2015 I will use the 10 quid or so admission price to buy some paint from B&Q, just 1 mile from Brandon, and watch it dry instead. Well done to the GB speedway authorities ! IMO you have made what was a viable, and entertaining spectacle potentially pathetic. So I deduce you are not a NL fan, but by the end of the season there will be new heros, new future world champions, future riders for Poole to poach, stay with it dear fellow it will be worth it -
Not bad, although being an oldy Race suits with Infradex on tucked in boots will always be the peak.

any pictures of these race suits please

Welcome aboard the Raiders Express the new three. Interesting to note Danyon (hope I spelt it correct) scored 8 points (and reached the final) at Scunny on Sunday the same score as Dan Greenwood and Danny Phillips and more that Govier, Wilson and Bowen.

If You Could Bring Back One Rider...
Rayleigh replied to TonyMac's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
KELVIN MULLARKEY * pantomime villain * record bonus points in a season 84 * 4 races at Glasgow 4 f/exc, must be a record * could always be relied on winding up and beating Mildenhall ( and lived there) * clashes with Barney Kennett, Alan Sage, Martin McKenna and halfa Browning (did you see the size of that fella) are folklore down by the riverbank. * had a fight on the track with Kevin Smith against Newcastle in 1980 (no big deal until you realise Smithy was his PARTNER) -
Well considering the time Andrew Silver has had to build a team he is doing a damn good job. I believe there is still enough points for Brendon Johnson and 3 three pointers (including a No 8) Leek, Hume and Watts. The team will be much more competitive than I dared hope for. Andrew, lets hope it is the start of a long managerial role at Rye you have made an impressive start.

When aboard Luke & Luke (sounds like the firm in Trading Places)

Cant help feeling Garrity has mugged us Rye fans. The start (and middle) of last year he was awful, but I was prepared to believe the "bike issues" misdirect, but his performances improved considerably towards the end of the season. I suppose a leopard does not change his spots, so move on please and let, by all accounts a honourable guy (and when fit, a better rider) represent my team. No doubt fans from a another club will be excited with the news that Garrity has joined them, they will be told last season was down to "bike issues" are now behind him, well remember you have been warned.

167 replies and no riders announced, shows there is some interest in the Raiders.
-
Are we running this year? On one side: I thought Moggo II and Hoppy were highly likely team members but both have now joined others On the other side: The fixture list have the match dates. Come on Andrew please enlighten us.

Whoops I missed Moggo Mark II

I don't have inside info but just looking at the riders already declared could the team look like this. 1 Luke Bowen - Simon Lambert 2 Macauley Leek - is he old enough 3 Benji Compton - Kent connection 4 Gary Chessell - Kent connection 5 Training track discovery (a 43 year old who had a 17 year break and yet still was my rider of the year, just don't take that helmet off and nobody will know) 6 Jason GARRAD - hopefully un-retired 7 Kia HUBBARD - is he old enough As I said just guessing but Nos 6 & 7 should have the old folks salivating
