He tried the same with me at Sheffield the night he he 'crashed' with Robert Nagy. I think Johnno had already had a go at him in the pits and there were a lot of shouts and hand gestures from fans at the pits entrance, including from me. He threw a punch at me and missed, then the security intervened and they decided I was at fault even though I did not throw a punch and escorted me out the stadium. No issue with what he did, I gave him verbals. I do have an issue with the fact he got away with what he did that night on track.

Hancock then made cowardly comments on his website about Persersens mentality. I always thought Hancock was snide, this reinforced.

Why can’t they just have an additional race off in these situations?

Bewley being interviewed post final was refreshing. He seems a genuinely happy guy. Compared to Woffinden he really is a breath of fresh air.

I have no comment on this incident and I assume was just an accident. However I wanted to comment on this and draw your attention to Roman Matousek (She) v Robert Nagy (LE) at Sheffield many years ago. Only one man knows if what happened that night was an accident or not, but judging by his hand gestures the previous night towards Nagy and the way he lined up at the tapes for that race, then it's hard to think of that crash has just a racing incident. So sadly, sometimes on rare occasions I would suggest some riders do look for payback.

Absolutely abysmal camera work again not following the action to the line.

The TV production focussed on the unchallenged leader and completely missed the action in that last race.

Old thread but for me Long Eaton to Edinburgh for a 7:15pm rain off, even though sun was shining at that point.

Is it just me that finds the flashing lights in the GP as they cross the chequered flag quite off putting?

Goes back to this question. Why was Woffinden given a wild card? He never really looked competitive last season, so I can only think of one Monster reason why he was gifted a wild card.

Not bad GP so far considering all the rain.

We don’t have to have ridden to recognise world class and just ‘good’ riders you muppet. We watch speedway so we are entitled to our opinions, doesn’t make us keyboard warriors. The fact is, Team GB bar two maybe three doesn’t have world class riders, that British final was full of average riders, with 3 exceptions and one of those is a fading star.

Woffinden’s got this arrogance thing wrong. You can afford to be an arrogant prat when you’re untouchable on track, but not when your sporting performance is declining, and has been for a couple of seasons.

Finally a good three way race for the minor placing and the camera keeps panning away from it and pans to cover Lambert winning rather than stay with the action. Ffs.

I thought that, but if he did the camera footage didn’t show if that was in retaliation from something from Bewley.

I wish the producer would stop switching to helmet cam mid race, save it for post race replays. The angle doesn't help judge or watch the race at all.

True this. Too many dull Hancock type riders in the GP series at the moment.

I always thought he was exciting rather than out of control in those early days. But, hey I am getting on now, so you may be right. One of his first races involved a dust up with Dave Blackburn at the pits gate. I think that's when we started to really like this guy, especially when he made it clear he wanted to stay with us rather than return to Sheffield. I think they had dropped him because of an hand injury in the workshop so he got a chance at Long Eaton and quickly became a fan favourite.

Woffinden ditched this meeting for years, now he's happy to race it. Still, maybe he's preparing for next season when it may be his only chance to race at Cardiff.

Not sure if this was the late 80s or 90s, but Frenchman Thierry Hilaire for Long Eaton. Came in with bit of a fanfare, and at times we were not even sure if he knew how to turn the bike. Don't think he lasted long. I think he rode for another British club after us, with similar results.

Picked my first copy up in a long time from my local supermarket in Derbyshire today and good season preview. Was slightly surprised at how small the font is, although I admit I am getting on a bit now (51).
