Sayfutdinov On Sgp -" I'll Be Back"
TheReturn replied to PolskiZuzel's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Then if he qualifies he is most welcome. Not sure I would say he would be 1st or 2nd on his return but would be fun to find out. -
Sayfutdinov On Sgp -" I'll Be Back"
TheReturn replied to PolskiZuzel's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
He is a great rider and I would love to see him back.. but... why should he be given a free entry to the SGP after he previously walked away from it? I feel the same about the SWC final, I say it every year and I will say it again this year, Team GB should not be seeded to the final just because they're a host. They should be made to earn their right to compete for the top prize, the same with Emil. -
And which you are contributing to with your usual argumentative style.
-
The performance suggests something to hinder performance. But like others have said, why NKI?
-
They can be big personalities on track without being idiot twats off it. Clearly the forum doesn't like the word either, it 'filtered' the word out.
-
Not on this forum no, it's not allowed, well it is, but only if your forum face fits.
-
You don't need to deliberately swear on live TV in front of a thousands of fans to be a character. I am pretty sure he could have got the crowd going without swearing and still retained the status of 'character'.
-
Not at all, if you read back I have already said that someone simply needs to have a quiet word with him.
-
In your opinion. For all those dismissing what Tai said, let me ask you this. Can you imagine the uproar if Lewis Hamilton had said it on the podium of the British GP yesterday? What Tai said is not the end of the world, but I can't believe people are dismissing it so easily and suggesting there was nothing wrong with it.
-
I am a Tai fan, on track and off track for all he does for charity. But like others have said there is a huge difference between swearing in the heat of the moment after a crash and what Tai did. Tai knew what he was doing and it was inappropriate. I am not saying he should be hung, drawn and quartered but someone needs to have a quiet word in his ear to suggest he not repeat it. The problem is though like we used to say with Ward, whilst sycophants defend his inappropriate behaviour he will keep doing it. Much depends how TV view it, if they choose to keep interviewing him fine, but if they choose to avoid interviewing him then his sponsors won't be too happy and that may cost Tai in the long run.

Belle Vue V Wolverhampton 06-07-2016
TheReturn replied to GregoryM's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
As a neutral I have to say after viewing two meetings from the new Belle Vue how fantastic and exciting this looks, a proper race track that should offer some good close racing most meetings. I thought Adams comments last night were pretty pathetic. Belle Vue have created what looks like a fantastic race track, good for them and I wish them every success with it. -

What a fantastic night of racing, some great action. Full credit to track staff and riders alike for that show. -
I don't remember seeing a rider take their cap off at the end of the interview and shove it towards the camera. Still, I suppose by the fact he keeps doing it it must be encouraging someone to go out and buy the stuff.

TheReturn replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I was agreeing with something you said and you make it all personal... I was agreeing it was a good meeting and that I enjoy good racing. What is your problem man? I have clearly offended you in some past life. Fair enough if that's how we are going to play I see you're still you're living up to your name of Right Miserable C... (lets say chap) then. I don't have a problem with anyone disagreeing with me, but rather than address my points you always make it personal about me. No problem bring it on... but please do try and address my points occasionally chap, they are valid, plenty of people agreed (some disagreed too but none so vile and personal as you, but that's fine). -
But that's what I am asking... does his aggressive promotion of Monster actually encourage people to buy it? Does it help Monster make sales? Shame the TV camera's don't show some backbone and stop interviewing him for probably breaching some advertising rules somewhere. Not like his interviews rarely add anything to the coverage.

Wow, never thought I would find myself quoting something you have written in agreement. But absolutely, for me speedway should be about speedway racing (not speedway riding) and Chris Harris is a great racer. I just find it so hard to understand why he can't seem to do it on the SGP circuit when we know he has the ability. But last night is a prime example of where your argument falls down. In 2 races Chris was right on it, racing and competing. In the other 3 races he looked second class (well one of them he looked half on it, then dropped it). -
Promoting is one thing, shoving it in front of the camera on EVERY interview seems a little OTT to me. But so far, nobody's actually said through this, they have been persuaded to buy the stuff and try it.

Should Ex Riders Get Into Speedway Free?
TheReturn replied to Grachan's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I agree with others. If a rider's shown loyalty to a club and ridden for them for X number of seasons then yes, they have risked a lot and give them free entry, perhaps in return for talking to fans etc. Like others, 5 seems like a good figure. But generally in this day and age of mercenary speedway, I don't think many riders will ever achieve the 'loyalty' perk! -

He is a mystery, we know he can do it and on his day can race with the best in the world and we saw it in two races tonight, but in other races and most GPs he seems second class. -
Is he 46? Nigel never mentions that....

The more Hancock shows us that bloody Monster drinks bottle on every bloody interview, the less likely I am to ever try the stuff. I am a realist, and I know they have to show their sponsors on their bikes, caps etc, etc but there is something about Hancock's constantly shaking that water bottle in front of the camera every friggin time that is a bit OTT. So is anyone willing to admit being gullible enough to fall for Hancock's branding diarrhoea and having been tempted to try Monster?

It's a shame the camera does not show what happened, but clearly Zagar and Nicki had some kind of incident. -
Surely it would help attract more TV interest if the best names in world speedway are competing here on a set night, especially if channels like Sky and BT Sport need something to flill the void left by football in the summer months. I welcome the sports body looking at the rules (we all know some are plain confusing and silly) but the sports rules are way down the list of problems: - Poor quality tracks - Poor shaped tracks not conducive to good speedway - Lack of national media interest (needs a top PR company on the case) - Lack of big name riders (Hancock, Emil, Tai) I accept some of those are outside the BSPA's influence of change with the first two. But lets be honest, great racing and people will put up with naff rules. Even with perfect rules, poor racing won't keep people coming back. I don't have answers, but I do know that the sports problems in this country are not down to just poor rules.
-
It's good they are going to review it, but I don't think that's the problem. It's the lack of top name riders and the lack of a real 'elite' league. Other than going one race night a week (or a squad system) I don't see how that can be fixed, having a new rule book is unlikely to help.
