  1. Wouldn't be too high if Plymouth felt he could do a better job than Klima though. Personally speaking, all that matters is Tobias takes the time to get himself 100% after a truly horrific crash. Hopefully look forward to seeing him as a Gladiator in 2027 at least
  2. It is not as Jenkins remains with you as a Bandit
  3. Congratulations to the Monarchs who thoroughly deserved the victory and were possibly value for a little more. Gladiators simply never got going. Only led once as I alluded to in the commentary and looked off it all night. Incredible support from the Monarchs fans and great to see the riders acknowledge that at the end. Great spirit between all fans at the end mingling and talking. Close competitive sport, good crowd, great weather - it's what it's all about. The Coliseum has once again served up a thrilling end to proceedings, shame the home side were on the wrong end of it this time around but still so much to play for. Scott Nicholls - Incredible performance. Ran out of adjectives for him.
  4. Thanks for the reply, opens a couple of doors I guess, will be interesting to see what the Pirates do given he drops to reserve next week?
  5. Seems like both legs of this KO Cup Semi-Final stage are going to be crackers. Great to see it being competitive and not dominated or one-sided. May the best team win on Saturday
  6. What can Poole do though? Bowes average is 5.05 and they are already 5.34 over the limit? Apologies for my ignorance if I'm missing something there, just feels like there's not much they can do without changing a heat leader too?
  7. I've been fortunate enough to witness several incredible sporting moments, from Argyle beating Liverpool in the FA Cup, Plymouth Albion going to Twickenham in the old Powergen Cup Final, several incredible cricket matches with Somerset... That last night is right up there. But it wasn't just last night, it was 30 heats of speedway, every twist and turn with jeopardy involved. We all hoped the racing would be just as exciting as it was on Friday up in Redcar and the Coliseum delivered. People do enjoy bashing the Plymouth track but the racing across every heat last night was off the charts. Jake Mulford and Jody Scott belying their age and producing fabulous performances. Jason Edwards once again delivering around the Coliseum. Danny King and Scott Nicholls standing up when their club needed it most, Ben Barker leaving everything out there for the cause. Tremendous crowd, fabulous atmosphere and I loved every moment of being on Gladiators TV commentating on that clash. The final will be a brilliant occasion whether it's the Bandits or the old foes the Pirates. Redcar left Devon with nothing but respect last night for playing a huge role in an excellent knockout clash. Fair play to the Bears fans who made the long trip down and added to the crowd noise. The final will be a great reward for Mark, Garry, Barry and everyone involved with Plymouth Speedway for the hard work they are putting in to buck the trend of speedway's popularity in this country. It's alive and kicking in Devon that's for sure but they will not be going for the day out in the final... they want that trophy!
  8. Thought it was an excellent meeting that was as close as expected. Tonight will be no different. Allen, Edwards, Mulford have all scored big at Plymouth. Lambert has guested here plenty in recent times... Plymouth will need to be on it from Heat 1 tonight to try and get the tie level as quickly as they can, they worst nightmare for the Bears is a 5-1 in Heat 1... Hoping for a HUGE crowd tonight, looking outside my window currently at 08.43 and there isn't a cloud in the sky - should be a cracking finale to this tie, hope plenty of you join us on Gladiators TV later
  9. Interested to find out off people on here, what sort of lead do you think Redcar NEED to get tonight at home?
  10. Both sides at full strength on Friday (Live on BSN). Redcar: Klindt, Piper, Lambert, Edwards, Allen, Mulford, Scott Plymouth: King, Thompson, Klima, Barker, Nicholls, Grmek, Spencer Should be a cracking two-legged contest.
  11. There hasn't been Speedway in Plymouth since May 16th. Fingers crossed the big crowds continue. Club have been promoting this one for a while and there's no clashing sport in the city other than the local cricket leagues which should be concluded by tapes up time.
  12. Massive weekend ahead possibly for the Gladiators as they push for a historic place in the KO Cup Final. Would be a fantastic reward for Mark Phillips, Barry Bishop, Garry May and every associated with Plymouth Speedway who are working hard to buck the trend of Speedway in this country. The buzz around home meetings now is great to see. Two good sides, this will be a cracking two-legged tie. Looking forward to covering this on Gladiators TV
  13. Congratulations to Mark and the whole team at Plymouth who obtained a notable achievement on Saturday by having a record attendance for over 10 years in the defeat against the Pirates. Fantastic for a sport that needs positive news stories to see a club going in the right direction and the swell of momentum behind the club within Plymouth. It's fantastic to see and long may it continue.
  14. Would love to see Nicholls back for the Gladiators for 2026. Seemed to really enjoy his time in Devon where the pressure was off for him and he was able to just enjoy being back on his bike. Feel like Joe T is likely to return along with the hugely exciting Klima. Think Barker did enough in the Poole fixture alone to earn himself a spot back in the team. Would be open to seeing Tobias race for the Gladiators next season, he was excellent when guesting for the club. I think what we will see is plenty of people have had their opinions on Plymouth changed within the sport over the last 6 months with how things have played out for the club. This is very much a club who are trying to beat the curve and sail forward with the wind behind them. Crowds through the roof, atmosphere at home fixtures unlike any other, fantastic racing on the track too. Plenty of riders spoke very highly of appearing for/at Plymouth last year and I think Garry will be very happy with the options he'll have available to him when building the team.
  15. For the Gladiators yes, still a centurions fixture to come next weekend
  16. He is, it's rider replacement for Lasse Fredriksen
  17. Gladiators; Nicolai Klindt, R/R, Simon Lambert (G), Joe Thompson, Scott Nicholls, Alfie Bowtell, Tom Spencer Bandits; Nick Morris, Sam Hagon, Jonas Jeppesen, Drew Kemp, Peter Kildemand, Dayle Wood, Jack Smith Under 16's go free. Fireworks after racing. Real fun, family night ahead at the Coliseum
  18. So confirmed now the Gladiators side: 1. Zaine Kennedy (G) 2. Rider Replacement 3. Tobias Thomsen (G) 4. Declan Kennedy (G) 5. Scott Nicholls 6. Alfie Bowtell 7. Kai Ward (G) Fair play to Garry for patching the side up in such short notice. If we didn't have bad luck, there'd be no luck at all!
  19. This should be a cracking meeting between two evenly matched teams. Redcar are a tough nut to crack anywhere, especially at home so the Gladiators will need Klindt and Nicholls to be at their very best. If they keep it to a manageable level, anything up to 10pts I would say - it sets it up for a heck of a return fixture tomorrow. I've got Redcar just edging it tonight but should be a great meeting, hopefully it'll be a good crowd supporting this fixture
  20. The return leg of the clash on Friday against the Redcar Bears. Tobias Thomsen guests for Klindt, RR for Lasse - no idea about guests for Spencer if he’s missing or for Redcar. There’s been some huge crowds at Plymouth in recent fixtures and more importantly some outstanding racing. Expecting another HUGE crowd this week and the Gladiators promotion have announced a new ticket offer for season ticket holders of Plymouth Argyle, Torquay United and Exeter City - £5 off entry for all ST holders from those clubs. Fingers crossed for another memorable night, huge crowd and brilliant atmosphere.
  21. I agree with the post above, I'd estimate at the very lowest figure around 900, it looked, felt and sounded to me to be a crowd size of four figures last night. One of the best nights I've had at Plymouth Speedway and I've been going since 2009
  22. Glad you enjoyed the coverage foreverblue, I'm not going to apologise for being excited at the end though 😅 Weirdly, I've only been available for three fixtures on Gladiators TV this season, all three against Poole. It's nothing personal I promise! I stand by my comments regarding Kerr. I was a little surprised, I can see the arguments both ways on the separate incidents. I always try and keep my views unbiased despite wanting Plymouth to win every heat. I'm a sports fan and want to see the right outcome for every event so I will say it how I see it, regardless of my allegiance. On this occasion, the referee saw it differently. I'm sure in a fortnight's time when I do the Berwick fixture I'll see things differently again to certain incidents.
  23. This is an interesting point and I understand what you're saying but we shouldn't forget... Plymouth only led in the meeting at the end of Heat 15. The Pirates kept them at bay all night until the final two races when Garry just instilled a mentality in the four rides he used to create something out of nothing.
  24. Let's all take a breath and look at the bigger picture here. After years and years of ridicule and belittling towards British Speedway and it's structure, this week we've seen one of the best two legged fixtures in recent times in the second tier, culminating in a breath taking conclusion last night. Where do you start? First of all, massive credit and thank you to all the riders involved last night. They were a credit to their sport. That was fully committed, no fear speedway from everybody. I'd like to think I speak for everyone in sending our best wishes to Lasse Fredriksen who it sounds like will now miss the rest of the season. I was on commentary on Gladiators TV last night and that Heat 3 crash was perhaps the worst I've seen at Plymouth. To the crowd, what a night for Plymouth sport and British Speedway. They were crammed into the track and what an atmosphere. This goes for both set of supporters and it was a knowledgeable and respectful crowd. Everybody could see and appreciate the efforts the riders were going too for our entertainment. The noise at the end of the meeting with Plymouth getting on top was incredible. Plymouth is very quickly becoming a very difficult place for opposition teams with the atmosphere that's being created. Finally, to Mark Phillips and the whole Plymouth track staff. I take my hat off to them all. Not only was the race surface in great shape last night but their hard work to get the fences fixed not once but twice was astounding. They were rewarded with a fitting finale and I was glad that the stadium announcer got a warm round of applause going for them at the end of the night. Congratulations to the Pirates who take the bonus point and all the best for the rest of the season but haven't they been pushed all the way by a battered and bruised Plymouth?! I do think it's a shame the direction this forum is heading in these days with a lot of the unnecessary jibing that goes on from all angles. Speedway is a sport that is in desperate need of some help and assistance in this country and is facing some bleak times. Everyone, regardless of your personal allegiances or differences should always be supporting those putting on the show and doing what they can to boost the sport. Plymouth as a club is changing before our very eyes. The city is really getting behind the Gladiators and the club are doing all they can to provide a fantastic night out for all the family. It was great to see the fancy dress last night and the kids race being so popular. Heart warming to see the amount of Plymouth Argyle shirts on show, with people taking advantage of the season ticket offer. I've already had one message on Argyle's forum from someone who attended for the first time with his family last night and despite the long night, they loved every moment of it and will be back. We shouldn't be sat on this thread today attacking one another, we should be grateful and proud of the effort and character we saw from 14 riders last night who put on a terrific advert for British Speedway and showed if you do things right in promoting the event, if you have all the necessary safety precautions in place it can be a heck of a spectacle. Thank you Gladiators, Thank you Pirates - What a night!
