  1. For the Gladiators yes, still a centurions fixture to come next weekend
  2. He is, it's rider replacement for Lasse Fredriksen
  3. Gladiators; Nicolai Klindt, R/R, Simon Lambert (G), Joe Thompson, Scott Nicholls, Alfie Bowtell, Tom Spencer Bandits; Nick Morris, Sam Hagon, Jonas Jeppesen, Drew Kemp, Peter Kildemand, Dayle Wood, Jack Smith Under 16's go free. Fireworks after racing. Real fun, family night ahead at the Coliseum
  4. Plymouth have posted it to their facebook page
  5. So confirmed now the Gladiators side: 1. Zaine Kennedy (G) 2. Rider Replacement 3. Tobias Thomsen (G) 4. Declan Kennedy (G) 5. Scott Nicholls 6. Alfie Bowtell 7. Kai Ward (G) Fair play to Garry for patching the side up in such short notice. If we didn't have bad luck, there'd be no luck at all!
  6. This should be a cracking meeting between two evenly matched teams. Redcar are a tough nut to crack anywhere, especially at home so the Gladiators will need Klindt and Nicholls to be at their very best. If they keep it to a manageable level, anything up to 10pts I would say - it sets it up for a heck of a return fixture tomorrow. I've got Redcar just edging it tonight but should be a great meeting, hopefully it'll be a good crowd supporting this fixture
  7. The return leg of the clash on Friday against the Redcar Bears. Tobias Thomsen guests for Klindt, RR for Lasse - no idea about guests for Spencer if heโ€™s missing or for Redcar. Thereโ€™s been some huge crowds at Plymouth in recent fixtures and more importantly some outstanding racing. Expecting another HUGE crowd this week and the Gladiators promotion have announced a new ticket offer for season ticket holders of Plymouth Argyle, Torquay United and Exeter City - ยฃ5 off entry for all ST holders from those clubs. Fingers crossed for another memorable night, huge crowd and brilliant atmosphere.
  8. I agree with the post above, I'd estimate at the very lowest figure around 900, it looked, felt and sounded to me to be a crowd size of four figures last night. One of the best nights I've had at Plymouth Speedway and I've been going since 2009
  9. Glad you enjoyed the coverage foreverblue, I'm not going to apologise for being excited at the end though ๐Ÿ˜… Weirdly, I've only been available for three fixtures on Gladiators TV this season, all three against Poole. It's nothing personal I promise! I stand by my comments regarding Kerr. I was a little surprised, I can see the arguments both ways on the separate incidents. I always try and keep my views unbiased despite wanting Plymouth to win every heat. I'm a sports fan and want to see the right outcome for every event so I will say it how I see it, regardless of my allegiance. On this occasion, the referee saw it differently. I'm sure in a fortnight's time when I do the Berwick fixture I'll see things differently again to certain incidents.
  10. This is an interesting point and I understand what you're saying but we shouldn't forget... Plymouth only led in the meeting at the end of Heat 15. The Pirates kept them at bay all night until the final two races when Garry just instilled a mentality in the four rides he used to create something out of nothing.
  11. Let's all take a breath and look at the bigger picture here. After years and years of ridicule and belittling towards British Speedway and it's structure, this week we've seen one of the best two legged fixtures in recent times in the second tier, culminating in a breath taking conclusion last night. Where do you start? First of all, massive credit and thank you to all the riders involved last night. They were a credit to their sport. That was fully committed, no fear speedway from everybody. I'd like to think I speak for everyone in sending our best wishes to Lasse Fredriksen who it sounds like will now miss the rest of the season. I was on commentary on Gladiators TV last night and that Heat 3 crash was perhaps the worst I've seen at Plymouth. To the crowd, what a night for Plymouth sport and British Speedway. They were crammed into the track and what an atmosphere. This goes for both set of supporters and it was a knowledgeable and respectful crowd. Everybody could see and appreciate the efforts the riders were going too for our entertainment. The noise at the end of the meeting with Plymouth getting on top was incredible. Plymouth is very quickly becoming a very difficult place for opposition teams with the atmosphere that's being created. Finally, to Mark Phillips and the whole Plymouth track staff. I take my hat off to them all. Not only was the race surface in great shape last night but their hard work to get the fences fixed not once but twice was astounding. They were rewarded with a fitting finale and I was glad that the stadium announcer got a warm round of applause going for them at the end of the night. Congratulations to the Pirates who take the bonus point and all the best for the rest of the season but haven't they been pushed all the way by a battered and bruised Plymouth?! I do think it's a shame the direction this forum is heading in these days with a lot of the unnecessary jibing that goes on from all angles. Speedway is a sport that is in desperate need of some help and assistance in this country and is facing some bleak times. Everyone, regardless of your personal allegiances or differences should always be supporting those putting on the show and doing what they can to boost the sport. Plymouth as a club is changing before our very eyes. The city is really getting behind the Gladiators and the club are doing all they can to provide a fantastic night out for all the family. It was great to see the fancy dress last night and the kids race being so popular. Heart warming to see the amount of Plymouth Argyle shirts on show, with people taking advantage of the season ticket offer. I've already had one message on Argyle's forum from someone who attended for the first time with his family last night and despite the long night, they loved every moment of it and will be back. We shouldn't be sat on this thread today attacking one another, we should be grateful and proud of the effort and character we saw from 14 riders last night who put on a terrific advert for British Speedway and showed if you do things right in promoting the event, if you have all the necessary safety precautions in place it can be a heck of a spectacle. Thank you Gladiators, Thank you Pirates - What a night!
  12. Plymouth; 1 Kye Thomson (G) 2 Ben Barker (C) 3 Lasse Fredriksen 4 Joe Thompson 5 Scott Nicholls 6 Alfie Bowtell 7 Tom Spencer Poole; 1 Richard Lawson 2 Tobias Thomsen 3 Lewis Kerr 4 Zach Cook (C) 5 Anders Rowe 6 Paul Starke 7 William Cairns
  13. With Arran Butcher sidelined for the rest of the season, the Gladiators have just announced the permanent signing of Tom Spencer, who was very impressive against Oxford a few weeks ago at home to be the new No.7 - He will go straight into the side for the weekend
  14. This ought to be a cracking night in Plymouth. Expecting another big crowd with great weather. Under 16's go free and the best 'Gladiator' fancy dress wins a centre green experience. Plymouth have released an update on Ben Barker today. Nothing is broken, still in severe pain with limited movement and they believe it was a dislocation. He will work closely with Michal Halambiec from B3&Fit with the hope of getting back on the bike for Saturday evening!
  15. I'm speechless but so proud. What an unbelievable effort by the Gladiators. Let's not lose sight of the fact they were without Alfie Bowtell to start with. Ben having to withdraw very early into the meeting but they kept going and showed unreal fight for the badge. To push a full strength Pirates side that close at home, something we haven't done for a very long time shows just how good a group this side is. It's going to be some night at Plymouth on Saturday where crowds have been big and loud all season. It's kids fancy dress night too so expecting a good atmosphere. Guest choices for Plymouth will be key here but what an opportunity in front of them to get another 3pts. The playoffs might be a long way off but there's life in their chances for sure. Looking forward to covering this one on Gladiators TV, hope those who can't make it enjoy our coverage of what should be a cracking night of speedway - as it has been so many times in Plymouth this year already
  16. Dan is an excellent choice of guest and certainly changes some perceptions of how competitive Plymouth will be here. Darryl will obviously be out to prove a point here and put himself in the shop window for the rest of the season and beyond. It's going to be an interesting week with these two going head to head.
  17. According to the Pirates website: Poole (TM Neil Middleditch) 1 Richard Lawson 2 Tobias Thomsen 3 Lewi Kerr 4 Zach Cook (Capt) 5 Anders Rowe 6 Paul Starke 7 William Cairns Plymouth (TM Garry May) 1 RR 2 Lasse Fredriksen 3 Ben Barker (Capt) 4 Joe Thompson 5 Scott Nicholls 6 Alfie Bowtell 7 Max Perry (Guest)
  18. Whilst I don't know the full in's and out's of it, when I asked Garry post Wednesday's trip to Oxford when he came over to us supporters about operating RR, he did say if he did use the rider replacement facility then Klindt would receive a ban
  19. Plymouth couldn't take RR for Klindt, had to be 75% of his average hence Tobias coming in to guest.
  20. Large travelling contingent from Plymouth heading up for this one. Looking forward to it. Always a warm welcome at Sandy Lane and great fun. Full minibus and car full of just Bar Bandits heading there along with the other hardy, loyal Gladiator fans that always make the trip.
  21. Yes, 18 members of the Bar Bandits left either at 6am Thursday or early yesterday morning for the 2025 Northern Tour. There was also a few other hardy souls who follow the Gladiators far and wide in attendance too ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ Bar Bandits Had hospitality at Edinburgh and were made to feel very welcome by the club. Unfortunately Berwick today is off and theyโ€™re now assembling for the long trip home, hopefully be home before 7pm! We are on duty again at another club who always extend warm hospitality to us in Oxford on Wednesday evening. Minibus is full along with a car heading to Sandy Lane to get behind Garry and the team once again! Massive thank you to Edinburgh speedway for being so accommodating to the Gladiators supporters. Bandits had a great night and hopefully put a smile on one or two faces! All being well, see you all in 2026 at Armadale ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›
  22. Frustrating night for the Gladiators where it all got away from them in the first 5 heats. Nicholls rusty and short of a bit of confidence, he said so himself post meeting early on but those last three rides behind Nicolai he looked better. That Heat 15 ride against Paco was superb. He'll come on plenty for that tonight and you'd like to think he'll be a different rider again on Wednesday. Fair play to the Monarchs. Outclassed Plymouth in the first half of the meeting. Gladiators kept fighting but were swimming against the tide. Little room for error now for the rest of the season for the playoff hopes. Looking forward to travelling to Oxford on Wednesday to get behind the team
  23. Ought to be a good meeting this. Hopefully Nicholls is in good enough shape to fire the Gladiators to a vital victory. Hook is a good choice of guest. Bowtell down to reserve could make or break the meeting you feel Fancy Plymouth to nick this...
  24. Massive fortnight coming up. Friday - Edinburgh (A) - Leading by 4 on aggregate Saturday - Berwick (A) - First leg Wednesday - Oxford (A) - First leg Saturday - Oxford (H) - Return leg Every possibility the Gladiators could find themselves in an enviable position by the time Workington visit at the start of August
  25. New 1-7 for those unaware; Scott Nicholls Lasse Fredriksen Joe Thompson Ben Barker Nicolai Klindt Alfie Bowtell Aaran Butcher
