  1. Much of the reason for fewer clubs is due to stadium owners selling off their venues for development rather than lack of interest in the sport itself. OK one could argue that speedway clubs (BSPL) should have invested in their own stadia - but that is so much easier said than done. As for lack of profitability that imo is as much to do with clubs paying out 'big bucks' for 'star' riders rather than operating at a level that is sustainable. Onwards and upwards - with whatever works for our clubs..... (PS. apologies Berwick fans)
  2. ...but people's definition of what makes 'entertaining speedway' clearly varies. League Speedway will continue in some form or other if all clubs, first and foremost, are financially stable, which means clubs providing what their fans want/expect to attract enough income to outweigh their costs.
  3. Not to worry, as long as it was entertaining eh? Not sure Poole will do any better next Saturday?!
  4. ..but the BSPL preview does state that Craig Cok (their spelling, not mine)is out on the 28 day rule.
  5. Name me a 'big fish' that isn't losing money this season. Poole opt for Championship racing for primarily financial reasons ie not losing money. Not owning their own stadium Poole get no revenue from any stadium outlets. Their income derives solely from admissions, sponsorship and advertising by providing successful, trophy-winning teams within a financial budget, whilst attracting decent crowds. Simples. Promoter Matt Ford has recently stated publicly that Premiership racing might only be an option for Poole if there is a decent TV contract plus being allowed to race at home on their established racenight ie Wednesdays.
  6. Why oh why do you continue to watch Poole meetings then? Your brain must be well addled! Its a shame you do the sport no favours at all by continually criticising......! Poole have won a fair number (not all) of their away meetings in recent seasons as well as home meetings - sometimes by big scores, sometimes by Superheats, often by gate-and-go .........
  7. ...and all within the same 40 point team building limit!! All of this 'from the gate' criticism - its a shame other teams don't have riders that can gate, like Pirates do in most of their away meetings!🤣 Lawson clocking the fastest time of the season so far. Credit to the track team.
  8. So here at the stadium after a couple of heavy rain downpours the top surface of the track is being bladed off. Sun is shining now but Riders from both teams showing concern. Should make for an interesting meeting..... ....
  9. He's only done 17 qualifying meetings so far (needs to have done 20), presumably?! His official GSA will surely come into effect for July.....
  10. So weather permitting, Pirates have a full 1-7 again with Cooper in at 4, as expected, and Fraser returning at 2. Should be a close meeting imo, but Poole to reach the final.
  11. Pirates social media sites had it within minutes of the final!!
  12. Ben Barker didn't know either!!!🤣
  13. ...plus I had an email reply of thanks from Alyce in the BSPL office.😆

  18. That's why I questioned the 6.71 on the June 1st Declarations, issue 14.
  19. Yes my thoughts too. I've emailed bspl for clarification. I wonder if I'll get any response......from them?
  20. Tonight's HarbourMasters meeting is OFF, due to waterlogged track. New date to be advised...
