What will 2026 UK speedway bring?
SteveLyric2 replied to Lionsman66's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I asked this question a few days ago, slightly tongue in cheek but................. If the remaining Prem teams are adamant they want to remain in a Prem League with more teams than 4 or 5, why can't they each run a 2nd team themselves on alternate weeks and re-name it Super League? eg Belle Vue Aces; and Belle Vue 'Kings' Leicester Lions; and Leicester 'Cats' Kings Lynn Stars; and Kings Lynn 'Moons' Sheffield Tigers; and Sheffield 'Rivets' Ipswich Witches; and Ipswich 'Crones'? or similar.... -
Don't forget VAT!!
-
I make that 42.43 even with the 2.5% reduction for Brits!!
-
The Fords usually have at least 3 pencilled line-ups each pre-season. This year may be a bit different depending on the final team building points. Agreed to be 40 for 3 seasons but dependant on a 9-team Championship!! Awaits, with interest...........!
-
Rowe isnt the only one expecting to be paid more than Pirates are willing to pay!!
-
I'll be more than happy if Bowes increases his average by .81
-
You often find that riders in losing teams don't perform well whereas riders in winning teams do better.
-
Yeah but Worky were pretty crap at most away tracks too. Their top away score was 43 and that was at Poole where Bowes scored 13
-
Falling out with the management probably hasn't helped either!!
-
Not like you Lewy!! You on the beer again?😇
-
Was it 2 consecutive years? He did ride for Poole in 2023.😇

Haven't Belle Vue given the local City Council some 'guarantees' about the number of meetings? Also they have 2 GPs scheduled ............! -

Shame he didn't give the fans any options - 1, Close down; 2, run in a 5 team Premiership;3, Run in the Championship; 4, Run in a 'one league' set-up, with 5 or 6 rider teams? -
Keeping to the script at least! I still don't understand why they didn't go to the fans for their preferences first before announcing stepping down and selling?
-
'End of Season'??? Poole had loads more meetings.🤑🤑 Also why would a rider 'not be bothered' to attend Poole when he knew it was highly likely he'd be joining them next year?
-
Vinnie Foord was in it
-
Maybe because his Prem team place is uncertain.?
-
Another 'reality' is that there is far greater variety for the fans with the Championship fixtures, as well as being marginally cheaper, plus fans are able to see around 30- 40% of the same riders as in the Premiership ( it maybe higher as I haven't done the actual calculation). Attendances for Championship meetings are also mainly good ie Glasgow, Poole, Oxford, Redcar, so what's not to like?!
-
If it is Bowes to be announced next, then he'll be lodging with Middlo alongside the Cook brothers.

What is there when Clubs are for sale?
SteveLyric2 replied to tonyd's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
As many promoters are 'enthusiasts' first and business second (or third....etc), the purchase value of any club is simply what the enthusiast is prepared to pay!
