  1. I think you might well find Holder taking part - if his recuperation continues to go to plan as it has done over recent weeks - if only for the chance to have a skid!!
  2. Name only? Trophy only! medals only! Records only! Sky only! Media only! Fans only!
  3. I wonder if Sky would further 'drag out' any negotiations until the current contract actually ends at end December, in order to have even more of an upper hand in how Speedway on TV is to operate?! The BSPA would presumably have to make an AGM decision to go with a league structure that assumes 'no Sky', ie no expensive top riders; and other cost-cutting measures etc etc. Then Sky come along in January with a new deal that 'insists' on the top stars being involved in some way?! What would that mean at that relatively late stage? ...A new competition? A Super Cup or whatever, in addition to whatever League structure has already been agreed?! I'm just a bit bored really, with no news............................................................................!!
  4. So Sky have lost out to BT Sport for the 2015/16 Champions League TV rights, thereby saving £millions. Maybe Speedway on TV might be 'saved' after all!!? (ps. If 'saved' is the correct word to use, rather than deferring the inevitable?!)
  5. Got mine on time in the post as usual yesterday!
  6. Also posted elsewhere that Tai is scheduled to appear on BT SPORT Live this evening - BT Sport1 from 7pm to 8pm!
  7. Tai is also scheduled to appear on BT Sport Live on Wednesday evening!! Maybe there is hope after Sky from BT Sport after all??!!
  8. Yes a great interview. Well done Tai and Colin Murray (and Nigel Pearson for presumably setting it up?!)
  9. Isn't the Euro League still on Armando Castagna's (FIM) agenda? If they can get all the TV rights sorted??!
  10. I think it well and truly 'extinguished' the season!!!
  11. Done!! And Dudek for Rookie of the year too!!
  12. The results of the tender process for future coverage of the Champions League (Football!) matches will be known by next Thursday - 7th November!! The winners (and losers) will undoubtedly have an impact on whether Speedway features on Sky - at a reduced financial level - in the future!!!!!?
  13. So, Sullivan's links with Torun not strong influential enough then??!!
  14. Double posts as well as double pies! Lovely.
  15. Surely nobody is saying/has said that lapsed attendees should not be chased for their reasons for no longer attending?! However, it is more than just sensible to concentrate and prioritise one's research efforts on those that have recently lapsed ie, in the past 3-4 years lets say, rather than those that haven't attended for 20 years+, assuming of course that those recent punters can be contacted in sufficient numbers?! Combine those responses with a good cross-section of views from current fans in a properly-run survey, and there should be some decent results!!?
  16. I'm sure they were tested/used at Leicester recently but I have no direct feedback other than a couple of 'positive' posts/pics on facebook!
  17. Elite League - Poole Positive - Being able to see the skills of the top riders eg Ward on a regular basis. Negative - Value for money, because Ward and riders like him are not in every race!
  18. Is that when there were just 2 TV channels and both in black and white?!
  19. Presumably there won't be any of the previous visa issues with Laguta for any of the GP rounds?!
  20. I am sure there is (or could easily be) a tyre for wet weather. However I can't see it working with the highly tuned machinery currently in use by the top riders!
  21. If any Sky decision to cover speedway in the future is financially driven (ie based on overpaying for Premiership footie etc), then reading a couple of the business pages today, the next round of bidding for Champions League football has a deadline of 5th November (NB the deadline is before the BSPA AGM). If Sky win that bid with an overinflated figure to ensure they beat BT Sport, then I can't see Sky renewing speedway. However if BT win the bid then Sky could still look to continue a deal with Speedway!!? On the flip side if Sky do win the Champions League bid, that could leave BT Sport looking for other sport to fill their schedules....!
  22. Good post Tsunami! The only thing I would take issue with is the position with Sky?! As I said in an earlier post, why someone from BSPA/GSI hasn't approached Sky mid-season and given them a sensible deadline to respond with a decision, I just don't understand!! A presentation could and should have been put together to BT Sport (or whoever). The sport would have been no worse off than it is now in terms of knowing whether it has a TV future and planning for 2014 accordingly!
  23. The Star explains that it is due to another bad accident for organiser Marcus Williams, requiring him to be 'in traction' for a lengthy period of time!!
  24. What about the folk who watch both football and speedway?! There is really only one month - mid June to mid July - when there is no overlap!!
  25. Tai's win was mentioned in BBC Radio Solent's live footie coverage this afternoon Saints v Swansea!!
