  1. Good to meet Orlovsky and have spin in his Lambo afterwards around car park,a shrewd investor. Never seen such a big crowd for a practice session, at least 200 cars in car park.
  2. That brand new Robin logo looks scary, theyre asking the kiddies to name it. I would go with Mad Robbie, Rockin Robin, or Rampant Rosco! Gates open to fans 5.00 today for practice session.
  3. It didn't mention that the vast majority of flashing and voyeurism was committed in the back straight bogs at Blunsdon, so unfair to blacken the whole town.
  4. Dont think Morra or Batch have been the same riders since their mate Darce suffered those terrible injuries.
  5. Belle Vue Rye House Poole Kings Lynn Wolves SWindon Somerset Leicester
  6. Great work Bazza, on holiday on the island mid-JUne, hoping to attend the Kent match. Was there a few years ago v. Newport, friendly but small crowd, about 200. Liked that little stand, and not too serious like Elite League Swindon. What size crowds are you getting? Shame you're separated from Pompey and Soton by that expensive stretch of water.
  7. Yes not as good a team rider as fellow Aussie Leigh Adams, who led the Robins to two successive superb Pairs titles in 2004/5, with Charlie Gjedde and the late Lee Richardson.
  8. Ex Zummerrzet roiders Doyley and Morra.
  9. The two top Aussies, Doyley and Noddy, still ride here, with a few other Gp riders. Unfortunately its not the 70s now and the Poles can shout the loudest.
  10. Unless you're a Rye House fan, good to see mainly Brits in the team
  11. Horse racing has had great success in attracting under 18s, so has ice hockey and athletics.
  12. I liked the Canterbury Crusaders jacket, we copied it for our local cycle speedway team in Swindon, Carshalton Crusaders.
  13. Swindon losing 49-29 at home to Cradley, but Crumpie getting 15 point max. Swindon fans on the greyhound track chanting Crumpies name. A 2004 thumping at Belle Vue was depressing with only 3 races won, by Adams twice, and Gjedde. The 2007 collapse at Coventry in the Grand Final ranks among the worst.
  14. Can remember England v Usa around 1981, a lot of USA banners displayed by English fans. England were behind but a great display by then Robin Stevie Bastable and Lee and Jessup smashed the yanks, who lost the series. Wasnt a big crowd there that night. Biggest I've seen at The Abbey was late 70s, think it was Golden Helmet showdown between Crump and Collins and a league match. The gates were shut, it was said there were 16-17000 inside and hundreds locked out, fantastic atmosphere. Swindon took hundreds to away matches, 500 travelled on the Mad Wellie Express train up to Edinburgh with riders and bikes. Be lucky to get 50 travelling now. But still one of speedways best supported clubs.
  15. Were you there in 1968 GB v Sweden?..more queuing to climb in on the bog roof than at the turnstiles. Official attendance around 12000...more like 15000 packed onto the Abbey grassbanks.
  16. The biggest problem is the odour wafting from the bogs.
  17. I saw you, wearing a Gaberdine mac, orange scarf, a deerstalker, and pink winklepickers, orange trousers, carrying an umbrella, and smoking a pipe
  18. Was that the meeting, a Bank Holiday, where the fans had a race around the track? Swindon won. The late great Holloway, the Earl of Stratton, has a road named after him on the new Blunsdon Mead development, with Lee Richardson and Bob Kilby. Apt that its opposite his old hostelry, the Jovial Monk.
  19. I thought the stand and bogs were being converted into luxury apartments like the old Arsenal stadium.
  20. Just swapped from Bt to Sky so the local pub or rellies to view.
  21. Is there still a grandstand? Is there still a grandstand?
  22. Fantastic...cheers, Christ that makes me ancient! Squibb was top rider. Unfortunately they didn't see the season out, those orange and black rangers. I was 7 then, lived in Nunhead se15.
  23. My first match New Cross-Ackney Awks 1963
