Riders demands over the years
speedwaysliders replied to Robinh88's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I have to say that Speedway nowadays is much more professional than in the past. And because of that Speedway is too dull . Lets look back 10 years 1- more character in speedways riders from years ago.I was lucky enough to begin my speedway days watching the likes of ANDY Galvin, rob Tilbury ,Kelvin Mullarkey!! Dean Barker,Brett Saunders, sean Wilson,The Kennetts and so on.Most were british and had other jobs, but i would look at the line ups in advance and think to myself "that heat looks tasty" im going to that meeting on what drama could happen on the night.Nowadays its very run of the mill stuff with riders wanting to get on to their next meeting, instead of getting up to do their normal jobs . 2 No Pit phone access. For whatever reason sky stopped listening in on rider/ref talk.you cant beat rider emotions and what they think, and makes for great viewing and then interviewing the rider later. Why they have had to clamp down on this,i just dont know,if i was head of sports and had speedway on my list, the pit phone IS A MUST and has to be one of the first things on the agenda, not cutting it all together.Fans love to see controversy . 3 emotions - Speedway is so correct and polite these days, but when rider bust ups do happen, the clips are shown all over the world!!!! Whats wrong with a bit of hand bags ,it just gets the crowd going .Again i wouldnt fine any rider, just let them sort things out. -
Swindon - Belle Vue Koc 1st Leg 14.9.17
speedwaysliders replied to A ORLOV's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
OR could you do the totally opposite, put the 2mins on,get rid of the start marshal(to be honest the riders take the mick with most of them)let the riders dig to their hearts content but if they are not ready to race when the clock counts down to zero its their own fault,LET the riders do work they like within the 2 mins, then put the green light on ,and start the raceit should be fun!!!!!!!!!!!! -

Ill give anything to look through this seasons riders sick notes and the docs that sign them!!Anyone know where they are kept at HQ,im going to break in and reveal all!!!!.................................................... -
Sorry but dont the fans come first.Im one of a number of floating fans, when i can get time off work ill see what matches are on that day,and if i think it will be A GOOD RACE MEETING,i will go.How the hell are we going to race with the pool of riders we have at the moment with double uppers etc.Its a farce now but what will it be like with everyone scrambling for riders on the same night?!!.Im sorry but Jason gets a good leaving out of the sport, hes down very well over the last couple of years mainly going from a second string to a world class rider. Only race experience got him there, but now he wants to change the system for himself.Sorry hes bang out of order with his comments.

Greg Hancock Hurt?
speedwaysliders replied to False dawn's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
IF the events unfold the way people are saying, and Greg doesnt make the top 8,i think he might call it quits for his GP career.Im not a fan of Gregs but you have to give the man credit for being on top of his game for so long.Ill still bet that he will keep his league racing going or even go back to the states where they race forever.Greg could even be one of the yougest at Costa Mesa!!!!! -
Leicester Lions Vs Swindon Robins 17/07/17
speedwaysliders replied to The Observer's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Excluding Riss was one of the worst Refs decisions ive seen.Riss didnt have a clue what rider was where,he was just racing flat out for the win.To say he was at fault for his team mates crash is just stupid, how the hell can he be the cause of the crash is just crazy,The rider behind was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, just unlucky that riss took the line he did,he was in front,he didnt have a clue which rider is where. -
Chris Holder ! :- Friend Or Foe
speedwaysliders replied to g13webb's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Agree, never like to see riders injured, but Batchelor clearly faked an old injury getting him out of the Kings Lynn meeting, but racing for Swindon the next night, and then at Leicester on TV.It now looks hes got a legit injury but how are fans supposed to react?!! -
Wolves V Rye House - 24th April 17
speedwaysliders replied to Beowulf's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
BUT.................Did the track doc know? Surely if the doc got wind of the situation Eddie would have been the subject a few tests to pass him fit to ride. You cant just leave it up to the rider, can you imagine if Eddie came off or knocked someon else off!! I can see the headlines now in the national press!! Also why take 4 rides? somethings wrong,or someone knew and did nothing to stop the rider riding a motorbike at 60mph. -
When Craig Boyce landed that punch on Gollob, sky covered every minute of it,even with craig talking to the ref. When Martin Dugard flawed Stefan Andersen, sky were right there, including beforehand ,when Bob Dugard was having a go at various people. The late great Tony Millard loved every moment of it,putting his own spin on events.I just hope sky havnt told Pearson and co that they cant talk about various flashpoints that come up during a meeting. That would really kill speedway. ps....PS Anyone know how i can get in touch with Kelvin Mullarkey to ask his view on Speedway today?!!!!!

You summed up brilliantly what happened in that race UNTIL the final bit!!! You are correct Lingren did use Zagar to make Cook stranded in the middle of the Sandwich,it was a class move to shut the door on what he had to do.Cook was stranded in no mans land and Lingren made the move work.Super and vital at the time.

Great meeting, had everything,Just out of interest did anyone else think the league trophy had already been given to Wolves before the second leg as it clearly had Yellow and black ribbons on from the start?!! Wonder if Tai is setting a new trend for 2017.Teams just turn up with 3 bikes and engines and use the leftover new tyres to race on new edges come the end of the meeting!! Star of the evening for me was Freddie Lingren-Tonight was hard but fair racing, and the race with craig cook was just class racing when cook left the door open, what to people want in speedway, just shut off and say"after you sir" or use track craft and pass a rider when he has a chance to do so.Thats what makes speedway races like that.
