  1. Arthur Cross, anyone who can explain a question like you did deserves rather more than just put a "like this" on your post, many, many thank's for that it makes a nice change to get such an eloquent and informative response, more power to your trigger finger Sir!! mc131, thank's mate, broken shoulder blade eh, thats gonna be stiff for a bit, best wishes for a quick recovery Luke!! Who shudda taken "4pts" away from a 7 man Redcar team whom needed a tactical........... Yep, THE COMETS. Try and keep it in perspective!!
  2. Well, that will have certainly cheered you up a bit then!! as for myself, I cant see past the 15pt lead thrown away and losing by two, that's why I said I can never get over confident with the Comets just a bit unreliable, mind you, what happened with this Luke Crang, only a part race then gone for good, two races and we only have one rider in it, did he aggravate an old injury or summat, updates said he was up and walking after the crash? Have to say it tho, got to get rid of this rule of allowing the home side the use of tacticals, once again the start of the slippery slope for us conceding a 1-8 and without it Comets would surely have hung on for the three!! It is disappointing but 1pt is better than none, but with a 15pt lead bombed out nowhere near the four we "could" have got and if we really want to win something this year we have to stop slipping up, away wins are rare for us and this one definitely got away? Without a doubt losing a reserve so early on didnt help but the remainder built up a 15pt lead so..... how did we lose????
  3. Would have been better to have posted this straight away and alleviate any misconstrued thought's? There is'nt really a lot of point in maintaining a dignified silence when there is such a dearth of information available to explain the all round disappointment of Sunday's meeting, that, without a doubt, is what causes so many people to fall out of love with the club and the sport in general, if any sort of notification can be made available asap to the paying public, better it be up there straight away and let people, interested or otherwise make of it what they will!! It is much easier to appreciate the in's and out's of running a meeting when you are told what those in's and out's actually are, it defuses the situation and helps prevent thing's getting out of hand unnecessarily? I personally didnt ask for a full explanation of everything but I am much more satiated now that i do have so for that I, for one, am very grateful for the time taken to post these answers and that is much appreciated, should there be a next time dont leave it so long!!
  4. We know that, just dont want to go too overboard at this stage just in case it all goes pear shaped!! Judging by your rant, I take it your not happy with life over there?
  5. Considering our thinly disguised attempt to cover up the lack of ambition to face Edinburgh in the LC final on Sunday we now have absolutely no distractions at all in our quest to bring the League Championship to DP? Not been a bad hunting ground in the past Redcar so would be expecting at least a point from this but would definitely prefer three!! Redcar's Ht leaders are quite potent on their own track so our's will need to perform in order to compete, middle order could be the deciding factor, r/r hasn't been that bad lately so if Campton/Lambert and Crang can get some points together we should be in with a shout, be pretty disappointed if we came away with nothing especially after the Rye win!!
  6. Why should you be ignored George, your making a valid point, are people in the ground not entitled to refreshments without having to go through all that nonsense, heard some of that message you quoted but not all so I largely ignored it, think I was more bothered about the extensive track work that was going on without actually being told it was an interval, unless I've suddenly gone deaf and missed that announcement as well something has definitely gone awry??
  7. And they certainly didn't, Barrett very impressive and young Jacobs had a good go so all in all the necessary improvement that yielded the win tonight!! Cant help thinking though that this was a match that the Comets didn't want to win, looking at an already burgeoning fixture list adding another two wasn't an option, may be wrong but that's how it looked to me? Comets won races easily when they needed to to stay in the match and then the convincing 5-1 in the last over arguably P,boro's strongest pairing showed we could have easily done better than we did!! Campton put a great ride together in ht14 but nowt much before same with Lambert, Neilsen tried but outpaced most of the time, Wells/Grajczonek won when needed and Rene, by far the best performer all night did most to keep us in it, not enough consistency throughout to match the Panthers who just did what they needed to do!! Blackbird looked very good after a shaky start and could have been worth a lot more if not for that, Bellego, what a poor choice of guest he was, only 11pts, tragic, Bjerre quick from the gate and rode solidly enough same with Ulrich very fast, just as well there's not much dirt or god knows where he'd have ended up, and as previous the two reserves did a commendable job!! Panthers deserved the win on the night for sheer effort and determination but as I say, cant help thinking this meeting was just played out, we "could" have won this if we really wanted to, absolutely convinced of it?
  8. Think the P,boro front four and our front four likely to cancel each other out, this meeting for me will be decided at reserve, Lambert/Nielsen v Jacobs/Greenwood, (if thats the combo?) so their performance is the key tonight!!
  9. Not looking good this, Fisher out now Dryml out, r/r in operation and same for the Comets, World Cup final on, hardly doing much for a good crowd tomorrow?
  10. Very handy rider to have is Bellego, no mug round our place and one of those riders who's scores dont always marry up with the effort he put's in?
  11. Maybe Kyle should nip across to Southport sands and do a Red Rum, seemed to work wonder's on his feet!!
  12. Understand what your saying but that was, if correct, a foolhardy decision, Rene Bach 5 rides 15pts away from home, you've gotta use him, Jacko has to be more ruthless same with Lambert in Ht14, he wasn't riding well Nielsen was, decision made itself.... Jacko, "be more dog"!! Gonna have to watch out when Glasgow come calling, that Kasper fella looks quite useful!! While continuing the theme, I shall enjoy reading the further comments from the disheartened Rye fans, considering the number of times they have mullered us down there in the past I shall simply bask in the glory of a 4pt away win, Sorry guys, it has to be done. (may never happen again)
  13. Never expected that, not at all judging by our usual performances at Rye!! About as comprehensive a win as we could have hoped for, just about excellent all round, apart from Lambert, whom didn't disappoint the locals and scored poorly after a top start, why he was left in Ht14 is a mystery to me when Lykke Nielsen was doing the biz, and why no Rene in 15?? Very handy 4pts away win but poor in the last two races gave the scoreline a flattering look that Rye didn't deserve judging by the updates and post match comments, happy with the win but Comets should learn to keep kicking the opposition for the full 15hts, it looks better in the points diff!!! Almost two weeks before our next PL meeting now so, lets hope we can keep this going when we get started again!!
  14. Always thought that after the incident at Belle Vue a year or two back an official SCB referee had to make the decision, upon inspection of the track, as to whether or not to call a meeting off, dont know if that's what happened here or if it ever actually happens at all? Seems a bit strange that a few posts suggest the weather wasn't all that bad and there "could" have been a prospect of the meeting going ahead yet the strength of a weather forecast swayed the argument, maybe if clubs were made to provide photographic evidence of the track conditions prior to a call off we might start seeing a few less of them, just a suggestion and "not" a swipe at Somerset, it's not in their interests either to lose a fixture?
  15. Just hoping that this meeting goes ahead, with our match at Somerset rained off tonight we can ill afford to lose any more ground, fixture list is getting pretty congested now!!
  16. This is not helping us at all but, it is what it is and if double headers are the only option later on then, so be it!!
  17. When he's wearing a Comets bib all hostilities cease, if he does the job, TJ's new best friend for the night, back to Berwick.... and of course he's a dirty sod, why wouldn't he be? This is only an opinion of course as it is not my place to portent the actions of another!!
  18. Weather doesn't look good but here's hoping!! Would like to think we are good enough to come away with a win from Rye but our record here is not great, never seem to do well on small/technical tracks but, with Rye being a bit down lately you've got to take these sorts of chances and capitalise on other's misfortune? We desperately need to start catching up on our PL fixtures as we seem to be well behind everyone else and further rain offs are not really an option for us at this time, some good away points are needed this weekend to boost the pot? All things being equal and it's a goer, I will hope for a small win for the Comets and go 43-47.
  19. Judging by the comments on replacements and missings so far, this is about as good a chance to get something out of Somerset since Stoney was around!! Should realistically perform much better than the KOC fiasco but I wont big the Comets up "too" much just in case, got to be worth at least a point and we really should get that if we harbour any ambitions of winning anything, got to get the results from the better teams as well? Somerset are not likely to lie down so big effort's required here and challenge for every point, it's a good track for racing on so no excuses for a poor show, hope Mason continues on the up at No4 as I think middle order will hold the key to this match!! Think I'll plump for a nerve jangling 48-42 home win and a point for the Comets!! Long range forecast a bit iffy for Friday and not good for Rye on Saturday, hope it's wrong, thats a long trip for a rain off!!
  20. Thing is HT, the grip is "always" out by the fence as the grading very rarely brings it back to the inside just boshes the stuff around in situ with the "wonder wheel"!! Couple of lorry loads needed really to get the grip back on the inside, was a bit like a pavement on 3/4 for most of the meeting but as I said, didn't stop people racing well on it but as you say, couldn't always get passed?
  21. Very good meeting tonight between two relatively even looking sides that produced some excellent racing on a smooth but often pretty dry track!! For Plymouth, Barker represented some real value in a racer, always pushing and trying for the full four laps, Katajisto was the big disappointment, a better contribution from him would have seen the Devils get closer to a point tonight, Fricke an able and valuable guest scored some good points at the front and backed up well as did Newman, scored well in the middle order, Benko rode quite well really even though he didn't score, just a tad off the pace but Simota did ride well and was value for his points!! For the Comets, Josh rode very well again only dropping the 1pt, Rene looks to be coming back to a more consistent level of scoring and riding much better at 3, the move to 4 certainly seemed to help Campton tonight, one of the best meetings he's had for a while, certainly hope this positional move is a sign of more good things to come, Wells, an absolute gating tart tonight, missed it he's nowhere, hit it and he's up there with the best, enigma!! Lewis Rose as guest res tried hard but was too much outpaced on this fast track whereas Simon just seems to be getting better, the change of track has done him the world of good scoring really good points and, most importantly for us, winning races, something Mills just never looked like doing? Be an interesting return to Rye next Saturday, weather permitting, as to how Simon does, his experiences there were not good this year but, now the confidence is back a nice little 10pts return will do very nicely!! Overall, a very competitive meeting with lots of good racing and a valuable 3pts for the Comets, need to get some momentum going now as we are quite a few matches behind in the PL and need to start getting some in and points on the board not cramming them into a short space of time which has been our downfall quite a lot in recent years? Certainly looked like an improved and dare I say, rejuvenated Comets tonight, a lot more belief about the team and very satisfying it looked too, onwards and upwards!!
  22. Need the win from this and the full 3pts? Should be too strong for Plymouth who's away form has been a bit suspect of late but I'm looking forward to seeing a couple of their riders whom I've not yet seen here before in Jensen and Simota!! Will be hoping that Kyle is OK to resume as his contribution could be vital same with Campton, while looking at DD's format looks to have dropped to No4 so could be a shrewd move if it allows him a little less pressure to perform under as he's been under performing at 2 for quite some time now and looks like he needs a change of scenery!! Will have a look for something in the region of 51-39.
  23. Said the self same thing in my earlier post, and I quite agree, it is farcical!! It should be mandatory that any rider stood down due to illness/injury in one country should then not be allowed to ride anywhere else until that period of time has elapsed? Maybe there is a region of atmosphere over Europe somewhere that neutralises ailments when you fly through it, if this is the case could someone tell me where about's it is so I can book a flight and get my knees sorted!!
  24. Very strange state of affairs this, if Kus has been stood down for medical reason's by the BSPA from riding in the UK then how can the authorities in the Czech Republic override that decision and allow him to race there, surely the reasons given in the UK should be on a Worldwide enforcement standing, just how ill is ill and who makes that decision? If rider safety is supposed to be paramount then how can this type of situation be allowed to arise, your either unfit to race or you aren't?
