Scorpions v Leicester 30.08.2019

If Proctor and Nicholls ride like they did last night for Peterborough there will only be one team in it and it won't be the Lions! -
I think that today is the last day for making team alterations.

According to the NFL Pairs regulations each club is supposed to send two riders out of the top three by avarages.

Lions v Glasgow 17th August
Happy Hunter replied to Happy Hunter's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
According to this week's Speedway Star no more double headers at Leicester. Cubs to ride midweek to clear fixture backlog. -
Glasgow can get a maximum of 56 points, Somerset 48 and Redcar 50 so all could get more than the Lions. The maximum the other teams can get are all below the Lions current 43.
-
No more double headers according to this week's Speedway Star. Remaining home matches likely to be on Tuesdays.
-
If my calculations are correct the Lions are now guaranteed a place in the play offs. To finish top Lions need maximum points from their 2 remaining matches and hope that Glasgow, Somerset and Redcar slip up.

There is a lot more about this on the Lions v Glasgow thread.

I hope that it’s now obvious to the promoters that double header meetings are not feasible at Beaumont Park as the maths don’t add up. Like many fans I park on the Shopping centre car park where there is 4 hours free parking. It takes me about 15 minutes to walk to the track and queue to get in. It’s about the same to get back to the car after the meeting and queue to get out of the car park so that’s 30 minutes gone already. There are then 30 races at say 6 minutes per race or another 180 minutes so that’s 3 ½ hours gone out of the 4. Then we need to add on re-starts and re-runs say 3 per meeting at 5 minutes – another 30 minutes so my 4 hours are up. Then of course there is the tractor racing say 4 times per meeting at 5 minutes – another 40 minutes gone and 5 minutes gaps between heats 14 and 15 – another 10. So even without any intervals during or between meetings it must be obvious that even without any lengthy delay due to bad accidents there is no way I and many others can stay and watch all of a double header meeting. -

I wouldn't bank on it! -
No Nichols for this then as he will be on BT Sport for the GP.

I think you will find that it's a cup match tonight. -
They are supposed to be signing someone new to British speedway to replace Bates.

Thanks for this.

If the Lions lose by 20 or less then they will count that as a win! I suspect that Connor Mountain will be the key rider and I also expect that he will be very tired by the end of the afternoon having featured in just about every other race! -
I can't understand why the Gladiator fans are not up in arms about last night's debacle. The Plymouth promotion have a good record for calling matches off early when there is the slightest possibility that a match might have to be off due to rain, either recent or forecast. From Monday to Friday this week Plymouth had about 37 mm of rain including 28.4 mm on Monday and 3.6mm on Thursday and 0.6 mm on Friday. The track is situated at March Mills - a clue there as to why matches get called off because of the weather. In addition the promotion have been trying to get new shale/clay onto the track in the last couple of weeks. It must have been clear by Thursday evening that there was no chance to get the track ready for Friday and it should have been called off then. I can find nothing on the Gladiator's web site about why it wasn't called of earlier. I can't even find out from the website how much it costs to get in to see the Gladiator's this season.
