I missed that one - not so easy then !
-
Zengota or an equivalent rider will be in the team come the first set of averages - the changes this year for most teams could be like no other year , as riders averages will drop in the main, leaving plenty of room to strengthen. I can't see many teams having the same 1-7 all season
-
Not too bad if you just pay an adult admission but I take three kids and it's going to cost me £7 more per meeting - approx £150 over a season - hardly encouraging families and the next generation.
-
J Holder still has a lot to prove and failed to reach Brady's first season average in the PL after two full seasons. I think he's a tad over rated but a good prospect and will need time to settle.
-
It suits Ford allowing Holder to go out on loan to obtain a realistic average for 2018. I can't see it happening as I have mentioned before due to being a Friday track and the number of meetings Holder will miss due to the GP's. The promotion aren't silly and know the score. Poole weren't prepared to take him on an unttainable average so why should anyone else unless Poole contribute £.
-
So what's everyones preference - two strong reserves and a balanced top 5 or a stronger top end and one strong reserve ? 1 Kylmakorpi 2 Wright 3 Schlein 4 Starke 5 Josh 6 Allen 7 BWD Or as an example 1 Zagar 2 Allen 3 Josh 4 Wright 5 Kylmakorpi 6 BWD 7 3 pointer
-
I wouldn't have Holder personally at Somerset on an average which is unttainable - you have to seriously compromise your team. The only benefactors would be Poole the following season when he's on a realistic average. Plus as mentioned before he'd miss around 10 Fridays with the GP's so I can't see it happening.

It's a decent team the promotion are putting together - fair play to them. I think this team will look better as more teams are announced
-
You have to think the promotion were interested in Harris. I'm sure he would have pulled a few more fans from the Exeter\Plymouth way. Money talks I guess. Confident Gary will put together a competive team.
-
I wouldn't have Worrall back and Jake Allen is surely nailed on
-
Champions elect that team if the averages fit Huckenbeck is a steal
-
Not a bad team apart from Watt is questionable after last season I guess. I can't see a Rebels team without Jake Allen. I really like Todd Kurtz he could do a fine job at reserve for a team as he can gate and very rarely gets overtaken by riders at his level. How about : 1 Harris 2 Wright 3 Josh 4 About 8 points to play with 5 Tungate 6 Jake Allen 7 Zac 3 very solid heat leaders a cracking reserve and decent middle order. Or drop the 8 pointer and Zac and go with BWD and another 5 pointer -shame a combo of BWD/Todd doesn't quite fit

Best Teams You Can Build Under 50pt Limit
RebelDan replied to Paddy The Rebel's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Best so far! Blimey is that all Harris converts to - pretty much the same average as Tungate and Josh G finished on at Somerset -
1. Harris 2. Wright 3. Holder 4. Starke 5. Tungate 6. Allen 7. Wilson Dean Blimey that's not much better than our PL team from this year! I guess that proves the watering down of the top league Not sure on Jack Holder, he is yet to convince me - I would think he is a shoe in at Poole anyway. I wouldn't take Brady back either he is too inconsistent on small tracks and needs a year riding one - he should sign for Rye it would improve him no end. I would ty and get Josh in the team somehow and he can double up on a small track in the PL if poss - he was my rider of the year and has been very good all season. Not sure on Starkey - great club man but stood still this year - prob deserves a chance though
-
Why any PL club would want to go EL is beyond me. Be genuinely disappointed if Somerset step up as a regular at the OTA.
-
Kai Huckenbeck finished on an EL average of 3.67 - looks very tempting if you could get him on a sub 6 point PL average - he'd be well suited to the OTA.
-
Branfords last issued green sheet average effective 1st October was 4.6 - he's useful but given his average is close to that of BWD we'd take Bradley I think. That's assuming we are still in the PL!

I hope the Rebels stay PL !

Somerset V Ipswich 7.10.16
RebelDan replied to Cliffeboy's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
[quote name="macca56" post="2862687" timestamp="1475975628 Jake Allen's form is, shall we say, mysterious. How is he quite that fast at the OTA? Maybe there is something in the air...? Jake has been sensational at home for a while and top scored for the Aussies in the U21 SWC ahead of the likes of Brady Kurtz , Jack Holder, the lad is class and destined for greater things. I was disappointed with the OTA which is supposedly a great race track. The floodlights are so bright and the off track lighting so poor, it is almost dangerous (without rabbit holes) at this time of year. It is a great track and I thought there were some decent races without it being a classic - maybe it helps when your team are winning! You make a valid point on the off track lighting though, its really poor in places and bordering dangerous - I nearly walked over a dog (of the K9 type !) outside the bar it was that dark. The bar staff and the prices are superb tough. Agree a great friendly service Apoligises that's not all my post I've tried to quote parts of Macca56 quote and failed miserably -
Glasgow Vs Somerset Cup Final 1st Leg 9th Oct
RebelDan replied to damosuzuki's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Bang in Cliffeboy our reserves are key. We have Connor Coles who was very much off the pace for Ipswich on Friday at the OTA and I can't see him troubling the scores and Josh Bates for Bradley. Depends which Josh turns up - hopefully not the one who scored 1 from 5 rides for Sheffield at Glasgow last month! -
Somerset V Ipswich 7.10.16
RebelDan replied to Cliffeboy's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
In light of the situation facing Plymouth, Workington and Berwick fans I am just thankful there is racing to view on a fantastic track at the OTA each week. Win lose or draw we have speedway to look forward to next March ( I hope!!!). Like many of us, unfortunately I have experienced tracks closing with Reading in 2008 having followed them since I was a kid (30 plus years ) and it's a gut wrenching feeling so I feel for the fans from the 3 teams above. Since moving to the South West in 2013 I always cherish the sanctuary of my Friday nights at the OTA. So I guess you have to try and put it in perspective - Somerset have been terrific all season and yes I'm biased and think we deserve to win the league, but it's not the be all and end all. In terms of tonight's match I think Jacobs could be key for Ipswich and Strakey for the Rebels - he's not been on it lately so we need a big performance from him. May the best team win and riders stay safe. -
Semi Final Ipswich V Somerset
RebelDan replied to mickthemuppet's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
The Rebels are up against it - I'm not convinced on the choice of guests but options are limited. BWD is a big miss and his points will be missed, I think the Rebels will need 14-16 points which is a big ask. Finely balanced -

Have Somerset chosen to ride the 1st leg at home ?
