Scunthorpe Scorpions 2018
RebelDan replied to IronScorpion's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I cant believe it took a Championship club to the tail end of 2017 to give Jake Allen a run - he was excellent in 2016 in his debut season and pretty solid in the top league for the Rebels last season in his first season in the top league. He s a steal on a 6 and will be a heat leader no doubt very quickly. -
Exactly - I fit into that category Ive been to pretty much every home meeting for the last 4 years. If its a Weds I cannot make it due to work commitments, so thats 2 Adults and 3 kids lost. Perhaps if the clubs surveyed the supporters they could have got a handle on what day most could attend rather than arrogantly assuming people can just come on another day of the week. I dont think there would be many Rebels fans wanting Morris - we need a No 1 not a 2nd/3rd heat leader
-
Surely those Robins would object to that - I hope they don't pick a Weds - theres too much footie on
-
The trouble is all the other teams are mainly in the North or East Anglia - which means very few away fans and higher expenses
-
Kildlemand or Zagar would be sensational to watch around the OTA next year, their riding styles would suit the track, they are both unlikely however especially Zagar who would cost the earth. I'd love to see Josh G, Jake Allen and Charles W back and build from there with a No 1. BWD looks to be on a bargain average and maybe worth a shout.

Well done Leicester !!! Chuffed for the supporters as it's no good for the sport or club having the same team at the foot of the table each year. Let's hope they can challenge for honours.
-
There's no credible link with either of the Holders having signed for Somerset. Wait until you here something official, I'd be surprised if both aren't back at Poole.
-
So will the Rebels stay in the top league as it would mean a change of race nignt if the league goes to the much talked about two race nights?
-
Not doubting the racing served up Chris its always first class -just don't score an own goal with PR as per the clubs statement.
-
I think there is another point of view - read the language she used it's just not necessary and will alienate many supporters -its a shocking way to speak to your punters and terrible PR. I can't believe it's still on the website. Who uses words like 'if the fans can't be bothered' - seriously, its terrible. Fans have paid hundreds of pounds this year to support their club with a ridiculous fixture list and multiple guests per meeting and deserve better than this ! Prices have gone up considerably for a family. Many haven't moaned, we have just turned up and paid our money to support our club each week win lose or draw - and I for one will continue to do so. A lot of fans will lose goodwill with the promotion unless this is retracted and an apology is forthcoming . With Speedway in this Country generally on the decline you don't want to give fans a reason to not bother attending.
-
No surprise considering there were two meetings in the last month two months - everyones out of the habit
-
Josh G Jake A Charles W A No 1 Plus 3 others Wouldn't mind seeing any of the following ; Huckenbeck Heeps Kerr Lawson or BWD with whatever is left after the above. Wouldn't have Paddy back or take either of the Holders I could see Lawson back at Lakeside if as expected they step back up.

No Aussies In British Speedway 2018
RebelDan replied to rocketman77's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Banning Aussies on mass is frankly ridiculous. There have been a few well documented issues with certain Aussie riders but don't tarnish them all with the same brush. I agree if their not committed they shouldn't be here, but you can say that about any individual regardless of their nationality. In the main, Aussie riders have ensured we have enough quality to fill 7 man teams - they made up about 14 of the starting 56 team places in the Top league (25%) and 14 also in the Championship (20%)- so would someone like to explain how we fill 28 team places across two leagues if we ban Aussies !! That's effectively 4 entire teams. Seriously get a grip people - we will all be watching National league racing in a few years if a few of you get your way. I'm all for developing British talent but we simply don't put the investment in at Grass roots to attract and support British youngsters. The Young Aussies leave home, travel half way around the world and take a gamble in making it work and for that I take my hat off. Try and put yourself in their shoes for a minute - think about it. Attitude is everything regardless of your nationality, Promoters need to do there homework but banning riders based on their nationality is not the answer - especially Aussies . -
Somerset V Wolverhampton 22.9.17
RebelDan replied to Cliffeboy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I suspect it had more to do with Somerset not having a league meeting since 1Sep and not wanting to go 4 weeks without a meeting which seems pretty reasonable to me. -
The forecast is heavy rain until 5pm - depends if the damage is done by the time it stops raining.

Speedway World Cup 2017
RebelDan replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Whatever are the rights and wrongs of why Tai refuses to ride for GB he is alienating himself from a large chunk of British fans. There maybe valid reasons on why he is not riding which the majority of fans would be sympathetic to and understand - there may not...... At the moment though with this limbo and silence from Tai, if I am honest, my enthusiasm to support him in the GP is wearing thin and that maybe completely unjust (or not) . -
Let's hope we win a few more home meetings hey !!! Up the Rebels
-
Huckenbeck beat every home rider last nignt (including Lawson ) scoring paid 15 and scored paid 10 a few weeks ago at the OTA. Disagree entirely that we could sign any rider on a similar average (5 ish ) to do the same thing - if that was the case we'd have two reserves getting double figures every week wouldnt we ? Out of the 8 home meetings we've had (16 reserve outings) a reserve has hit double figures just 3 times - Huckenbeck has done it both times his ridden. It's not the away points we need to worry about we've lost 4 of out 7 home league meetings- the answer is at home, win your home meetings first and keep the punters happy.
-
Agree he's been very average so far around the OTA albeit I think he's only had 3-4 meetings. Poor meeting last night by the very high OTA standards . KL really didn't have to do much to win - Lawson apart (he was excellent again ) all the Rebels were below par. I said we should have signed Huckenbeck the season before he signed for KL! Sign the boy up next season he loves the track.
-
What's the point in allowing Tungate to complete 8 matches and drop 4 points on his starting GSA? If you were going to drop him you'd surely do it prior to the 8th match and benefit from the full average on the replacement. He is a potential bargain now on a 5 point average for other teams Not sure the changes really strengthen us but I guess we needed to try something
-
Assuming you can only build to 42.5 points when re-declaring It looks like the Rebels will only have about 2.5 points to play after tonight's meeting. I said all along this will penalise teams looking to strengthen (shot down by a few before the Season ) as the Rebels who are rock bottom of the league can only bring in a 6 pointer to replace Graveson - hardly changes things does it. Unless I've got my maths wrong of course!
-
We lost by 5 last nignt and in the 3 heats Starke and Tungate rode together we conceded -10 points (4 to Wolves 14) . Everyone is doing there job at the mo apart from those two

Feel like I've just been mugged! Very harsh on the Rebels tonight Tungate needs to get going and fast
