  1. Just read your post with jolly imoji. Unfortunately the new COVID variant is funnier. If your internet connection ever goes down, you might want to submit your posts in writing, but remember to use joined up writing and not use a crayon….. And Poole fans wonder why people are queuing up to knock the Pirates with their juvenile mentality.
  2. Is this confirmed anywhere? Would have thought Dan had out grown this league already. Give Joe anther season maybe.
  3. For the avoidance of doubt the reference to Josh was made up (based on his last involvement in the sport). It was meant as a laugh although I really do hope that someone will take a punt on his enthusiasm. We all love a racer but there are acceptance limits regarding injuries to opponents and themselves.
  4. I agree, that’s why I didn’t park in the car park!
  5. Last time I went to Wimbourne Road I told the car park attendant that I would be back next year. Haven’t been for three years, so he’s probably yet another person at Poole that thinks he has been stitched up.
  6. Spot on (but I do think you need to get out more).
  7. I wasn’t there but I understand it was just the twins and Rowe practising. Josh Bates was apparently due to join them (in an attempt to impress team managers yet to complete there 1 to 7) but apparently fell off his bike in the pits and on the advice of medics decided to call it a day despite luckily landing on his head.
  8. You are right but the ‘official’ figures probably don’t include Eastbourne expunged scores which the averages on the Lions website appear to allow for. If that’s the case it says a lot about the sports governing body.
  9. He’s 91? Top bloke, wherever you take him he will no doubt see someone that makes him feel like a spring chicken, such is the speedway supporter demograph. If you take him to Birmingham, get him to wear some Kevlars. He will get free admission, but there is a catch!
  10. Initial thoughts were that the middle order is a bit light. On reflection, providing that the heat leaders maintain their averages, we have four young riders who are on their way up and between them I would expect an increase in combined averages of three (may be more) points. On that basis, the Lions should be there or there abouts come September. I really do think that the gaffer has assembled a team of racers and am looking forward to seeing them give it a right go.
  11. So F1 is more exciting than speedway? You are are having a laugh. The most boring speedway race you will ever see lasts one minute. A ‘thrilling’ F1 race lasts how long with how much overtaking? F1 is all about technology and sponsorship. F1 is totally reliant on sponsorship and race day attendance revenue is an insignificant drop in the ocean. Unless speedway can adopt an aggressive marketing approach it will remain a minority sport. So F1 and speedway are motor sports. How many F1 followers actually know what speedway is, never mind having an interest or not?
  12. Surprised that Pirateshi* hasn’t had something to say about matters. Waiting for a post with a jolly imoji that no one else finds funny.
  13. Any outsider reading Poole’s statement on Basso would think that there was a degree of loyalty within the sport. Loyalty should be a two way street. In speedway, riders can be signed up and moved on within weeks if they don’t hit the ground running. Nobody is more ruthless in doing this than Poole. Money talks, get used to it.
  14. Will you be changing your user name to BassoontoGlasgow?
  15. Not to be confused with riders moving at the start........called ***king cheaters!
  16. If Howarth is on board I reckon there is about 4.4 left for the remaining position (please not Sarj!).
  17. Just in case anyone is confused, there is no Joe Thompson, just Dan & Joe, who are twins…….both of them. Oops… I meant there is no Tom Thompson.
  18. Totally get your point but that would require a second string averaging over 5, which then compromises the third heat leader strength. Decisions, decisions!
  19. Your argument needs to be based on what was known at the start of the season rather than reflect on what should have happened, we can all do that, it’s not that clever. Average returns from Bates & Proctor should have put no pressure for Dan & Joe to deliver away. The twins came in on low assessed averages, just keeping the team total under the limit. Their combined average uplift is higher than that achieved by Hume & Mountain since the start of the season. A team is built around 7 riders, rarely starting from reserves upwards. With your vision you may want to spend your time managing a speedway team rather than keep posting here!
  20. Blindingly obvious my a*se! When a team is assembled at the start of a season, it is with a view that riders will either up their existing average or at least maintain the one that they are on. If Bates and Proctor had delivered on the latter (as we know this went t*ts up), both twins would have remained at reserve. The twins had never raced at this level previously but finished with a combined average uplift of almost 4 points.
  21. If I've done my sums correctly, I reckon that leaves 4.37 left for the final position. That would mean that Dan would remain in the 1 to 5 and not drop back to reserve (his comfort zone). There isn't much out there for that figure. Sarjeant would fit, but no thanks!
  22. What in the Championship? What would their averages be for team building? Think you might be getting a bit carried away here!
