  1. Such a great advert for speedway, both teams really wanting it and good cut throat racing. Spot on. That's what you get when you have riders of the right mindset, and let's not forget they were apparently racing on the worst track in the country (as we are reminded on a regular basis).
  2. Just watched heat 15 again and Sheffield can whinge as much as they like because that sort of incident always ends up as all four riders back in a re-start.
  3. Yes, the Lions have lost twice at home this season, as have the mighty Ipswich. Janowski is probably the best choice from riders available to replace Morris, but he isn’t the rider he was, which is why his average fits to cover Morris. Yes, anything can happen in the playoffs, but the Lions will be bitterly disappointed if they do not progress after Thursday’s Houdini act in Sheffield. Really hoping for a Lions v Witches final but if the Lions don’t get over the line, I will not have a problem with Ipswich taking the honours (despite what some people might think 😉).
  4. The Leicester promotion have the visibility issue in hand and free carrots are to be handed out to spectators upon entry.
  5. I’m surprised Dickson puts up with this from Kemp. It’s quite possible that one of the other riders in the race could fall or stop with a mechanical issue after Kemp has pulled over, thus throwing a point away. This is particularly important in two legged matches where points margins are crucial.
  6. Exactly. Let’s face it, Flint was lucky to get away with the incident in the first race. Having seen it a few times, there is hardly any evidence of contact from Fricke. The ref bottled it in my opinion, if in doubt favour the home team. As for heat 14, Howarth was clearly taken out (can’t go by Tatum’s comments, he was embarrassing again tonight). Just because the incident happened on the first bend, it is not an automatic restart with all four back. There was plenty of room between the two riders and Rowe drifted over and clouted Howarth. If that had happened anywhere else in the race it would never have been questioned, so why should this first bend incident be any different?
  7. They only turned up because they thought it was drag racing!
  8. From a neutral's perspective, I think the perfect score to keep this in the balance for the second leg would be Belle Vue 51 Ipswich 39.
  9. Sounds promising then, be great to have another midlands track back.
  10. Oh dear, is he following his passion for red and yellow? 😩
  11. What a sad, bitter and incredibly touchy individual you are. You pick one sentence out of my post (which on the whole I think is quite balanced) and then deviate into a rant roping in other posters. Any reference to arrogance is just my interpretation of wording used by other posters at the time. Forums are about opinions and you know what they say about opinions. You may disagree agree with comments I make, but when I disagree with another posters comments, I do not get aggressive and personal towards an individual or make reference to any previous post of theirs I didn’t like. Your post goes on to take a swipe at anyone who dare say anything negative about your beloved Witches, whom I should add are a very good team that I enjoy watching. Most of my posts are light hearted to generate a bit of banter and are certainly not intentionally aimed at upsetting individuals. If my posts upset you so much then perhaps you should not bother reading them, as you could be offended again. Put your toys back in the pram. Move on. On a final note, Ipswich v Leicester would make a cracking final.
  12. Ouch….That rules you out of any guest bookings for the play offs then! Hope you are on the mend soon.
  13. So, the play off place orders are sorted and the semi final opponents seem to be a fair reflection on performances over the season. Not sure what the statistics are but, physiologically, it is always considered that it is preferable for the second leg of a meeting/match (in most sports) to be at home. Hence the incentive for a top two finish. Unfortunately in speedway, the weather can intervene and suddenly, the second leg becomes the first leg, even at this important stage of the season. It does make you wonder, even in this squeaky clean sport of ours, how much effort teams with the first leg at home are prepared to put in when they have to battle with wet tracks or the prediction of later rain. Or is the order of home and away legs really that important after all, maybe not?
  14. Kelvin is a likeable muppet, but there are several (some arrogant) posts on Ipswich related threads, going back several months, implying that the Witches were untouchable if they stayed injury free (not necessarily saying they would win every meeting). Well, they now have their full strength team for the business end of the season but there are quite a few recent twitchy posts on this forum. I obviously would love the Lions to take the honours, but anything can happen. If Ipswich conquer all, I will have no problem with that, but I think that with all the hype over the Witches team, they will be be under serious pressure to deliver. Like some posters have said, if they don't win the league with this year's septet, when will they win it?
  15. So the interested promoter is keeping things under his (top) hat? 😉
  16. Yes, agree with you there. The tribal thing with team and supporter connection is fundamental to working class sports such as football. That level of passion will never be witnessed currently in British speedway which relies (due to rider shortage) on guests and doubling up, thus diluting the rider/team connection.
  17. Leicester will play Sheffield regardless of where they finish. As I understand it, the team finishing second has the choice of riding at home or away in the first leg. All it needs is a rain off and the second leg becomes the first leg which then makes the choice a farce.
  18. 🤣🤣 That’s the spirit! I actually agree with you on Tobi, both Lynn and Brum were miss sold. As desperate as UK speedway is, he may be lucky to get offered a team place next season.
  19. Sheffield colours are blue and yellow……just like King’s Lynn’s 😉
  20. I’m out of the UK at the moment but the weather forecast for Leicester looks a bit iffy for this afternoon. If it’s on, the score might not be as one sided as some think.
  21. I visited Perry Barr earlier in the season to watch the Lions and paid by card for me and the missus at the entrance. I say ‘paid’, but to this day no money has left my account. This could be a blip, but may have happened to others (who are hardly going to shout up are they?…..although they can now!). Whilst this isn’t the straw that breaks the camel’s back, it does imply sloppiness of a club needing to seemingly count every penny.
  22. A six pointer at reserve, quite something, puts the Witches right up there with King’s Lynn 🤣🤣🤣
  23. Only went once with my mate and his dad, pretty sure it was 1975. I was blown away (still a school kid at the time) at the size of the crowd, the biggest I ever saw at a speedway meeting. Remember buying a Belle Vue race jacket (body colour) from the track shop, as Peter Collins was my favourite rider then (could only dream of him riding for the Lions). I think PC won the meeting with a 15 point maximum.
  24. The only trouble with fans these days is getting them through the turnstile! (…..and I don’t mean because they are too fat).
