Just looking at the first page of the thread and Jeppesen is yet to be added to the Brum team. -

Max Fricke fell and was withdrawn from the second round of the Aussie Championship. -
He’ll certainly be difficult to pass!
-
They do now, he’s called Ben Barker! Looking at his photo on the SGB website it would seem his winter fitness regime is dodging salads. Surely has to shift some pudding to be competitive.

An old favourite set to return? just awaiting Arthur Browning's average to be re-assessed.

Don’t see how the powers that be would allow someone to ride for different teams in the same competition. That would make the sport a laughing stock and would lose all its credibility. Before you know it, teams will be borrowing riders from other teams for one off matches when their own riders are unavailable/injured. Heaven help us if the sport ever plummeted to those levels.

Can’t recall Cloughie using that term, but I get it and it is funny 🤣. That’s got me wondering what Cloughie would have been like as a speedway team manager. I can see him walking around the pits in that green sweatshirt wagging his finger at under performing riders and of course in front of the referee’s box! -

Interesting. I know nothing about the technical side of the bikes, but was reading an article in this week’s Star with Hans Nielsen who said that ‘lay downs’ were here to stay and that nobody would ever go back to ‘upright’ engines. -
Good for Phil, this could be right up there with his innovative coloured start mats at the pit gate for televised meetings.

Lawson has a higher average than Cook 😳 -
Speedway has been around for generations in this country, along with other sports. Unlike other sports (cricket is the best example I can think of), it has done nothing for decades in terms of serious and ongoing marketing to attract newer followers and most importantly, sponsorship. Money that riders can make in Poland is hardly reliant on attendances. Yes, there are more choices for spending your disposable on than there was years ago, but the same can be said for all sports in all countries. I’ve been surprised that the few Polish people I’ve met in this country know nothing about speedway (football is their national sport), but the people running the sport over there are obviously still doing something right!

2026? Think you might be getting a little ahead of yourself. Whilst Ipswich may be a very forward thinking and a well run club, things change very quickly in British speedway. change by the

Last 5 premiership rider predictions…

The article in this week’s Speedway Star would suggest that he only intends to ride in the Championship next season. -

Ipswich Belle Vue Sheffield Leicester Kings Lynn Oxford Birmingham Play offs? Depends on who can get Bomber to guest and who wants to take an end of season punt on Lambert. -
You missed the possible 50p increment between the £1 & £2 increase. Regardless of your budget, the nominal price increase will not determine whether someone will attend or not. Most people will accept what they’ve been served up previously or will have walked away from the sport before now. If all tracks were to reduce prices by £2, how many more spectators would that attract each week?……. Exactly! That isn’t going to bring back the ‘Yes I remember going to speedway years ago, what happened to the sport’ brigade. Tweaking admission costs are the very least of the sports problems in this country.

I hoped that was the case😆

According to my memory and subsequent research, Zagar only did two meetings at Leicester. Scored 9+1 from five rides and then 1 from four rides (failed to finish in 3 races). Pretty sure that he made his dislike for the track well known and was absent from the Aces line up on their later visits. To say you are easily pleased would appear to be a massive understatement!

Tasty looking line up that. The last two in the list will surely provide some serious bottom end (eye watering) fire power if called upon to deliver, should the established likes of ketchup disappoint on the night. -

Anyone for Pukka Park? Where talk of winning the league is pie in the sky. -
Was he recovering from bruising where speedway promoters had touched him with a barge pole?

Averaged just over 7 when he rode for us in 2017. Don’t know what he’s done since but suspect his average may be on the slide. Looking at the averages for that season, someone called Bewley averaged less than 5 for Belle Vue. Think I’d take him on that average, bit of a risk though 🤨 -
Can’t believe anyone would touch Rory on that average.
