  1. Worrall’s Championship average is less than Becker’s Premiership average…nah. Dickson seems to have no issue with binning riders and bringing them back. I wonder if he’s made contact with Nick Morris. He may have not raced for a while but his ban does not stop him from practicing and there are plenty of opportunities for that at Leicester.
  2. On current form, R/R at home can be comfortably dealt with. It’s covering for him away that would concern me, as you can’t rely on everyone else to step up on the night for someone who is second in the team averages. Track specialist guests away could be an option but that all depends on other fixtures on the same night and who would therefore be available. As other teams are finding, it’s proving to be very difficult to find replacements of a similar standard when riders get injured. Whilst I think it could be exciting to tempt someone over from the continent, I totally get Dickson’s apparent reluctance on this matter.
  3. No, but their performance does affect what they get paid. To be fair to the Tigers riders and manager, they were very honest in their interviews in the pits and made no excuses for what was going on. How many times in this forum do posters go on about gate and go, riders spaced out, no passing etc, all pointing at the track preparation/design/shape etc. Just in case some people haven’t realised, the ability to make good starts away from the tapes is the most important requirement in a riders skill set. It always has been and always will be at all levels of the sport. Riders have to take that on board and do whatever is necessary in terms of practice and set ups. As professional sportsman, riders will take earnings from points over entertaining every time. As much as we all love Bomber, he’d definitely take more consistently trapping over picking his way through from the back. Regardless of the track, believe it or not, it’s the same for all riders. The better riders will always prosper due to their ability and mindset.
  4. I think you might have your work cut out there! If Becker isn’t fit to take his place tomorrow, it is possible that Danny King could guest for the Lions (think they might go with R/R though). If King did guest, you would have to tell your mates that King and Brennan actually ride for the same team (Ipswich) but neither of them are riding for their own team and will be riding against each other😂. If that doesn’t put them off and they want to attend further meetings, you should become a promoter!
  5. Fair play to all contributing to this thread, as nobody is bothered about a thread relating to the actual meeting.😂🙌
  6. Fair play to all contributing to this thread, as nobody is bothered about a thread relating to the actual meeting.😂🙌
  7. Do you realise that you’ve used ‘logic’& ‘BSPL’ in the same sentence.😂
  8. Will the Bates family still be involved or are they selling up?
  9. If rider and team strengths were more evenly balanced, rider standards become less relevant. Doing away with the guest system would sadly make the situation worse. When your GP standard No.1 gets injured, replacing him with your club junior is not going to work is it?
  10. Guests have always been part and parcel of the sport since I first followed it over 50 years ago. I don’t like it, but I’ve come to accept it. I lost touch with speedway in the years that Leicester were closed, but when I got back into the sport (2011), I was shocked at the amount of doubling up. This to me destroys the credibility of the sport in the UK more than the guest system. It’s got to the stage where any talked about single league (i.e no doubling up) looks impossible without a large influx of riders (from where?) which also impacts the earning potential of existing riders due to reduced numbers of meetings.
  11. People often comment on riders being spaced out during a race. The likes of Morris and Worrall were banned for being in a similar state before taking to the track! Who is going to offer either of them a team place? Ah…. forgot….it’s a Brum thread!
  12. I’m out of the UK on holiday at the moment. Does anyone know if the live stream for the meeting is available outside the UK?
  13. Misplaced my reading glasses the other day and I’m struggling with reading posts on the forum, but wish that people would stop having a go at LagutasRacistNan.
  14. …..what average would he come in on?
  15. Yes but they probably think that they have more chance of winning at Brum than overcoming Sheffield at home, so maybe money well spent.
  16. If that’s what Rob Lyon said, I don’t buy it. Using R/R relies on Klindt taking seven rides, which is a massive risk. No team manager would go for R/R with Lynn’s options for more than one meeting……other than to save money.
  17. Oops!, ignore the last sentence above, technology has got the better of me. Just when I thought I was up to speed with life, I’ve heard that President Kennedy has been shot and Elvis has died. One thing after another! o
  18. Yep, agree with you on that, even as a Lion’s fan. In years gone by, races were never re-started with all four riders back. If a race was stopped, someone was deemed to be at fault. ‘First bend bunching’ is a term that has been introduced in an attempt to keep four riders in a race whenever possible, which is in the interests of the sport and something I get. The BSN coverage is not yet the finished article, but I’m still happy to subscribe to them. If BSNs out put
  19. So sorry that the track wasn’t prepared to Bombers liking as a visiting rider. I’m sure Mr Dickson will consult him prior to the next time Bomber is back riding for the Stars and every other team in the league on his returns to the venue. Whilst I’m still a big fan of Bomber and love watching him race, he should be above making comments about track prep criticism for someone of his ability at this stage of his career.
  20. Not necessarily a straightforward home win. The performance of Klindt will be key. Looking at the R/R options, he will be taking seven rides and normally goes pretty well around Leicester.
  21. Birmingham have a team full of lightweights but its not helping their cause!
  22. …Er… that’s kind of what I was implying 😟(keep up!). Not to be taken to the extreme though, we have enough problems with waterlogged tracks.
  23. A nice complimentary post. The Lions management should be grateful for such comments. I should add that any Lynn supporters attending on Thursday will be searched upon leaving the track to make sure that you are not taking any points back to Norfolk!
  24. You’re right and the track walk appears to be far too enthusiastic. 😄
  25. Brilliant post! Not enough Africans at speedway meetings, come on down! Everyone is welcome at the Lions den!
